I feel this pain - my wife was like “baseball again tonite ,who the horns playing “ I said they play tomorrow I’m watching Sam Houston vs rice. Of course the wtf look and roll of the eyes. I’m bleeding this turnip of a season out hoping coastal pulls it off.

It’s already marriage repair season at troph’s house. The time after football before baseball helps but it’s the two months before football’s first game that keeps me married. I literally don’t watch a single sporting event for 60 days. And you’d think all lesbians love sports well, not so. there are two kinds of lesbians that don’t love sports (1) the ones that love cats, and (2) my wife.  I’m so lucky.

We have a distant relative who is committed to TEXAS.  If he makes the roster, I'll fess up.  Now, that college baseball is over this is a problem for me.  My wife will start expecting me fix stuff and make something other than martini's for supper.  Now what?!

I’d say there’s quite a bit still needed. Need a starter, a catcher, and a shortstop at least

I think they only want to take 1-2 more arms so they will very picky. Very possible someone like Dotson could be stretched out as a starter with the stuff he has.

If they get Grubbs, Harrison, Ruger and Saunier all back from the draft, this staff will be really damn good. All of sudden you are looking at a group that will go 8-10 deep with a lot of different looks (left, right, sidearm) + any freshmen who show they are ready to contribute early.

Roster check (excluding Galvan, Belyeu, Flores, Fien and Cunningham)

*freshman
C (2): Chamberlain, Courville

INF (4): Mendoza, Borba, Livingston, Duplantier

INF/OF (2): Freeman, Rodriguez

OF (9): Gasparino, Winfield, Moroknek, Williams, Robbins, Peterson, Monsour*, Hill*, Pack*

RHP (19): Riojas, Grubbs, Burns, Saunier, Moffett, Rerick, Flores, McCreery, Howard, Hamilton, Cozart*, Westphal*, Crossland*, Rummel*, Boles*, Walls*, Rogers*, Furgason*, Paris*

LHP (9): Volantis, Harrison, Bing, Navarre, Walker, Dotson, Higgins, Mitchell*, McKernan*

So 45 total with at least a catcher and SS coming from the portal, so call it 47. I’ll assume at least another few guys from the current roster leave and we lose 3-4 more draft eligible guys. That probably leaves us at around 40 heading into the fall.

I 100% agree the staff is really good. I guess with DV likely starting Fridays it’s less important to get a big time starter arm. I’m really interested to see what another year with Weiner does for all those guys listed.

Farmer seems like a perfect fit at a place like Irvine. Good for him.  Was not expecting Ace to USC.

Fewer.

This is Texas and we have standards.

Shaping up to be a lot of singles. Not that it’s a bad thing. Especially considering the way Schloss views offense.

His stats remind me a lot of Mendoza at ASU. Doesn’t walk or strikeout much. Good average with basically no power.

Thought the same. We will need to the long ball from a couple guys but sounds like we can certainly put people on base.

How’s he field?

13 errors. Not great but doesn’t Stanford play on a dirt field? Usually see improved fielding on turf.

Lot of budget for Tinney is freed up. I assume plenty of teams are ahead of us in line for Sosa. The backup plan seems like Mack Whitcomb now, good slugging backstop from Tenn Tech

Whitcomb committed to Vandy yesterday

Are we going to end up throwing money at Flores to come back another year?

No. Pretty sure that money is already being allocated elsewhere and the amount it would require isn’t worth it.

Pretty much everyone except UGA have catchers set for next year either returning or committed. Appears like LSU has entered the sweepstakes, would be pretty cut throat to recruit over Arrambide.

It’s no secret that Arrambide will not be their catcher.  He has trouble with the basics.  They can use his bat and play him elsewhere.

Savage at UCLA might not be the coach as he is not under contract after this season. There is also the whole stadium limbo thing, UCLA needs to decide if they are going to be serious about the program or not.
