Ballmer pledged $315 million to this company in 2021 for it to merge with another company and go to IPO, but that also happens to be about the time Kawhi signed his first extension with the Clips. There's no way Ballmer would not know about the Kawhi side of it, it's mostly his investment propping up the company. More likely is that he already had a relationship with Aspiration and used this company as an avenue to provide cash to his team's player for a modest donation of a few million bucks a year.

I think Cuban is jumping to conclusions to defend a guy he likes, but here's the tweet for context. In a later tweet he agreed to go on Pablos show to discuss the situation, which may be interesting if he can bring receipts.

Joe smith scandal 2.0.

Idiots all around if this comes to fruition. Also this was the nicest KL post you’ve ever made @Kermit

I’m turning over a new leaf. Or at least I was until last Saturday.

There are plenty of ways around that. He's being obtuse.

I mean just fucking suspend him. Who cares about his money. He already got away with it.

It wasn't Kawhi pulling the strings on those deals - he was just asking for them.

Bring the hammer down on the Clips and make Kawhi sit half the season.

I had a dream where Ramona and Holly Rowe scissored.

I’m not proud of this.

No way would they just let him walk away and become a FA.   Even if they (he, his agent, any other rep) didnt ask for the deals, they knew about them, accepted them, and knew they were illegal.   He was at fault too and would face punishment.   I'd guess a min of a full season suspension.

I’ll be the one to say it.

Kenan Thompson Snl GIF by Saturday Night Live

Espn is already covering for Ballmer, the NBA will investigate and find no wrong doing, Silver will threaten Dolan by saying “we know you did the same shit with Brunson” and use that to get backing for USA expansion which Dolan is blocking, everyone knows how to circumvent the cap without repercussions, the poors get poorer, Ballmer laughs at every one at the next governors meeting and whips out his peen which in a weird way looks exactly like his head, same hairstyle and everything and it’s also sweaty and loud. It’s either that or they punish him and for revenge he and the Saudi’s fund a rival league and completely decimate the NBA.

No way. They're going to get hit with something. The other owners and execs are pissed.

The question is is it some slap on the wrist bullshit or something pretty punitive.

If Silver doesn't hit them hard, it's gonna be bad for the league going forward.  Lots more of these things will happen.

I think its all or nothing.   If the league confirms that it happened they have to hammer the team and Kawhi.   I have serious doubts that the league will admit it happened publicly though.  I think it goes away pretty quietly and relatively quickly.   What they cannot do is confirm it happened and then give them a small penalty.

I don’t know, guys. The way the world works now is that the extremely wealthy make their own rules. Ballmer is worth more than the evaluation of the entire league. He’s probably worth more than all the owners put together. How do you punish someone who can litigate their way out of anything? Who probably knows where the bodies are buried? If anything, it’s a slap on the wrist. You literally have to get caught on tape being racist to have repercussions these days and even that isn’t a sure thing for punishment any more.

Take their picks away? Oh no, they already suck at drafting and traded away their first rounders for the next couple of years.

Fines? Dude has more money than almost anyone ever.

Suspend KL? Dude never plays anyway.

I think voiding the contract but still having it count against their cap would be a decent idea, while suspending KL and Ballmer for a year.

Force KL to play all 82 games

Interesting take. The NBA YouTube channel has really upped their game when it comes to compiling extended highlights. Enough to chase out most of the unaffiliated channels who were getting big views in the past. If I'm being honest, at least 80% of my regular season NBA viewing is in the form of YouTube highlights. They must be monetizing that side of the house pretty well for him to just come out and say, "just watch the highlights, peasants."
