Oh Bobby, one implosion game won’t keep us from the playoffs.  It could eliminate us in the playoffs though.  But we still have the defense as a backstop.  A big difference in Sark and Greg Davis is that his short/screen game can be very effective.

Texas had multiple poor QB games last year and did alright.

There was a stretch there where our offense used to totally shut down for the entire 2H.  Vanderbilt, Kentucky, A&M, and I think Arkansas. I think they also went on a long scoreless drought against ASU in the playoffs.

Texas offense - 2H points

Vandy 6

Kentucky 7

Arkansas 10

Texas A&M 0

ASU 7

Looking through some draft lists for 2026 and beginning to realize that there isn't a lot of slam-dunk first-round skill position talent in the SEC this year. Even with overall QB play looking better than last year across the league, this might be a year where defense is king.

Most of the guys being mocked in the first round (non-QBs) are dudes like Ant Hill (LB), Kadyn Proctor (OT), Keldric Faulk (DT), Jermod McCoy (CB), LT Overton (DT), CJ Allen (LB), Jake Slaughter (OL), etc.

I found that interesting because I think there are some who are nervous with some of our inexperience and/or unknowns at the skill positions, but it appears it might just be a theme in the league overall.

You could argue the best WR and RB are not eligible (Williams and Baugh)

Correct, Coleman at Auburn came to mind too.

Some interesting roster cycles for sure. There are also some draft-eligible transfers like Singleton, Branch, Concepcion, Barion Brown and Nic Anderson who could play their way into high draft picks or put up a dud of a season. Feels like there is a lot of volatility with the skill guys this year.

The 13 games Ewers played the offense averaged a tad over 30 pts per game. The 3 of Arch (against MSU and 2 OOC cakes) were up around 45. I think we average substantially more than 30.5 pts per game this season.

Texas was 74th in the country last year in 2nd half scoring (12.4). . #9 in fist half scoring (19.4)

11th in 1Q (8.1)

10th in 2Q (11.4)

65th in 3Q (5.8 pts)

75th in 4Q (6.7 pts)

You could argue Texas had comfortable leads in the 4Q that depressed the number. 3Q was just shitty.

I honestly don’t care what any mocks or scouts are saying about Concepcion in regard to him having high draft pick potential. That guy is a possession WR with mediocre size and speed and he just had an inexplicably down year. Now he’s in Klein’s offense, which doesn’t exactly feature WR talent. He’s not elite in any way and there is no way his freshman season was good enough to merit leaving early being drafted early. It’s ridiculous.

In fact, all of those guys you listed are somewhat absurd as early draft pick considerations with the exception of Singleton. Brown has hands of steel and is a return specialist. Branch is playing for Bobo after being a middling WR for great offensive mind. Anderson is coming back off of major injury.

There will be emerging surprises, for sure, but those guys seem farfetched. If I had to pick a guy that could wind up shooting up the boards, it might be Noah Thomas. He’s got elite size and great hands and he’s not exactly slow. Georgia will showcase him.

Bro, you’ve been on the ball here.

The Olines are key in allowing the skill guys to do their thing.  The conference may regressed with their offensive philosophies a bit too.  P. Steele has A&M and UF high on its Oline rankings.  They have very good backs with potentially dynamic QBs.  Perhaps a bit more unknowns at pass catching. UGA has largely lived with out talenting their opponents the past 5 years.  That may be over.  Outside of Bama, maybe MSU, , I’m not sure beyond the two previously mentioned there  are SEC teams that could present us with issues.  It’s not enough to have 1 threat or maybe even two threats to succeed against us.  We don’t know who that could be at this time.

Theyll need to score at least 20 to compete against us and sometimes that’ll be 30+.  That is difficult to imagine with what we have versus what they have.  The Gators at home are the biggest threat in my opinion.  To our benefit, they should have bigger goals and other teams to gain their focus than to simply circle our game as the end all, be all.

Branch is an athletic freak. He hasnt shown to be very good at football. If Lincoln Riley cannot figure out how to get him going, no chance Bobo can.

Anderson showed potential at OU. If he is fully recovered, he could certainly make noise. He also has a good QB.

Although an experienced OLine would be ideal, at least we have a more mobile QB in the backfield that can make more plays with his legs if protection breaks down quickly. Even with the new OLine, it anticipate fewer self-sacks this season

Don’t give a damn about hype.  Beat the Buckeyes on the road, and they’ll earn that respect properly (that’s not going to be easy, and yes, it might not happen in Arch’s 1st start as Longhorns #1 QB).  Lose that stiff road test, and expectations will fall, at least a little, before the calendar even turns to September though there will be plenty of time and opportunities to earn them back before the CFP is seeded

Yeah from the first UGA game through the end of the season we looked like pure dog shit in the second half.

Most of the first half offense is scripted and Sark can gameplan as well as anyone. 2nd half off-script offense after the defense makes adjustments hasn’t been as successful, so hopefully coaching can improve in that area this season.

Orphey over Joseph feels like a high chance of upgrade. Sark hasn't missed yet in getting good developmental coaches. Which is why I am also bullish on Chad Scott.

Joesph isn’t that great of a corners coach but he’s a good safety coach. I think it’s an upgrade there.

Yeah, but I think our average starting position ranked fairly low. We may have had a good percentage of drives that started at 40+ but I think we also had a lot of drives that started inside our 20. Our special teams did not really help us last year.

is your name intentionally misspelled?  it’s buggin me.

I blame my folks for muckin’ up my surname, leavin’ me with a handle that don’t quite fit. My daddy was a tireless, self-made barbecue pitmaster from Austin with a touch of narcolepsy and a fondness for ropin’ steer. My mama was a sixteen-year-old saloon dancer from San Antonio named Callie with boots that could kick up a dust storm. My daddy would chase skirts, he’d knock back whiskey, and he’d spin tall tales like he invented the lasso. Sometimes he’d call pecans lazy, the kind of low-down grumblin’ only a genius or a madman would mutter. My childhood was pure Texas, summers in the valley, ridin’ broncs. In the spring, we’d craft leather chaps. When I was ornery, they’d stuff me in a feed sack and whack me with mesquite branches—pretty standard, really. At twelve, I got my first Bowie knife. At fourteen, a cowgirl named Wanda ceremonially polished my spurs till they gleamed like a West Texas sunset. Ain’t nothin’ like a pair of shinin’ spurs, it’s downright glorious—y’all gotta try it. still, comin’ up with an avatar and name was never my milieu.

That's risky a little over a month before the season starts. Some people can have issues with it that can keep things blurry for 2-3 months

Meh. It's pretty routine stuff nowadays.

Here's the video Dr. Mann shows his patients to put them at ease.
