1939.  I enjoy old movies.

Gone with the Wind, It's a Wonderful Life, Stagecoach, Mister Smith Goes to Washington, The Wizard of Oz, Of Mice and Men, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Allegheny Uprising, Another Thin Man, Babes in Arms, Beau Geste, Confessions of a Nazi Spy, Dark Victory, Dodge City, Drums Along the Mohawk, Each Dawn I Die, Espionage Agent, Gunga Din, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Jesse James, King of the Underworld, Stanley and Livingstone, The Three Musketeers, Union Pacific, Wuthering Heights, Young Mister Lincoln

Full of crime, drama, westerns, comedy and tons of male and female legends from Hollywood's Golden Era.

1939 says "Come at me, whippersnapper!"

Greatest year.  Not just at the top, but the bottom has films fun to watch coming up on a century old.

I’d choose 2026 so I can see something new.

I’m not a big fan of watching movies over and over. There is probably no movie I’ve seen more than 5 times and probably less than a dozen that I’ve seen twice.

I’ll catch Project Hail Mary and whatever else comes out next year while you guys reminisce.

I think you missed the entire point of the thread. Sure, go ahead and pick 2026 so you can see something "new". Then you're stuck with 2026 movies for the rest of your life. What if PHM is the only decent flick in '26? Then you just fucked yourself.

Better than the year you suggested.

Sure, if you're a 12 year old Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fanboy.

Gotta have OG Star Wars so for better or worse, 1977 is my year.

The most memorable of that year:

Star Wars

Close Encounters

A Bridge Too Far

Saturday Night Fever

Eraserhead

Smokey and the Bandit

Annie Hall

The Spy Who Loved Me

Slap Shot

Airport '77

The Kentucky Fried Movie

Still waiting on your list. Will it include Bob Newhart?

You should apologize for bringing up Back to the Future II.
