I've never once had success with this.. do you just search for the game and that's it?

Yep, oddly enough there's usually some Vietnamese name on the channel like Nguyen. The games that are on network TV like Fox ABC CBS NBC get shutdown rather quick. However, the ESPN networks usually do not and can usually go most, if not all airtime-- purely speculating but it's probably something due to YouTube TV vs Youtube that might make it hard for them to pull it down. Only works for college, NFL games get taken down real quick.

Also, the realstreamhub site above is great and I believe one of the guys who helped put it together is here on the site as we've DM'd before.

YouTube, free streams. It's been solid for most sports.

Cheapest way is to get an IPTV service. They are cheap and they usually have all the channels. Plus you get all the regional Network channels (i.e. ABC chicago, austin, NY, Miami, Clev, new Orleans, LA, etc). It can have buffering issues and they can be a bit sketch, but usually under $50 for3 months.

What’s the story with all these sketchy sites? Aren’t they just infecting your computer with malware so they can steal your banking login information? What is their business model, if not that?

I’m once again doing my annual cord cutter analysis. As probably the last U-Verse customer in the Southwest United States, I have forfeited the right to make fun of my dead parents anymore for keeping their rotary dial phone well into the 1990’s.

The prices on U-Verse have now reached a $85-100 per month premium vs other alternatives like Hulu+ and YTTV, with the only advantages now down to having Astros, Rangers, Stars, Mavs, Spurs, and all other networks on an easy clickable remote. Any other non-Uverse option loses Astros. The other teams could be purchased separately from a different service if necessary, or are already free, like Stars on Victory+.

So until I read that YTTV could have Fox go dark, I was getting ready to turn off U-Verse this week. Now I’ll wait until next week.

I wonder how many people I can share my OTA stream via my plex server 🤔

I have a CDN if you can give me and an rtmp link.

I also looked on Samsung+ LG TV Plus and Google Channels or whatever.

Some of them all have a combination of 4-6 local channels and have some fox sports derivatives. All of those are free and come with most major TVs made in the last like 5-6 years.

Here is an example. BeastTV : #1 Choice IPTV, Over 25K Channels & 8K Quality

1 month is $12 for 1 TV, if you want to try.

When I looked into this several years ago, this was not possible via Plex. But if you can figure it out, I'd take another look at it.

What's the delay on it? I can rebroadcast with OBS screen cap, but don't want if to be like a whole minute behind.

Yea I'm not sure if I can create a stream from my plex which uses my HDHomerun for OTA.  Unless I start adding everyone as users (hell no lol).  I think the only way to do it is through a DVR service of some sort.  But that would add delay to the stream.

Tvapp link does NOT have any pop up ads on any of the cable channels or sports streams. I have never had any issues getting it to work but you might not get a HD/4K feed for a popular game UNLESS you subscribe to their service. Their cheapest subscription is $15 a month and you get simultaneous streams to 2 different devices, a normal channel guide, HD/4K channels and is compatible with Apple TV/Roku/Fire Stick. You can get it to work on more devices on more expensive plans. Follow their instructions in downloading an IPTV player from the applicable App Store for you device and configure it. Payment is by Bitcoin only. I don’t subscribe to their service. I use that site only if I need sports streams that I can’t get on DirecTV — for the bullshit Fubo/Roku/DAZN exclusive events done for Euro 2024 and Club Wold Cup this year and PPV events. I get the stream going on my phone and AirPlay it on my Apple TV. TV app is the easiest and cleanest solution I have seen out there.

locally? Almost nothing. I'm typically ahead when watching OTA against friends that have cable or streaming.

If YouTubeTV is your only option you won’t be watching the game this Saturday. I would start looking for other options

what am I missing here?  just get an antenna.  i have YouTubeTV and never watch games on FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC on it because they're behind what comes through OTA.  why is anyone freaking out about a game that is being broadcast on FOX?

Because I don’t want to buy an OTA antenna?

The OTA picture is glorious, too.  I probably don't have the best antenna or positioning, but at about the same rate that streams buffer or go lo-fi, I seem to lose the signal for some of the weaker stations, which in this case includes Fox4 in Dallas.

Does anyone know a person in Austin that could install a TV antenna on the outdoor second story of our house? I have coax run to each room already but the person would I assume tie into the coax line in the attic. I could probably figure it out and do it myself, but I just don't want to mess with it.

I just bought a 18 dollar Amazon antenna.   Hope I'm able to get a good signal here in far east Dallas.  My TV is above the fire place so hoping that height is good enough

Don't bother with that.  Get one of the rectangle flat ones you stick to the wall.  I have an Airbnb in East Austin and I run three TVs with one of those things.  It can take a bit of adjusting to find the reight spot, but it won't take long.

One thing I will say about youtube TV versus Hulu Live+ sports + whatever the hell else. When you are on mobile only Hulu is dogshit compared to youtube TV. Constant buffering and it is super clunky. Youtube does a much better job when you are at some assholes wedding who decided to get married during football season.

I tried that already. Given where I'm located in Leander, every channel comes in fine except for CBS. So I need something higher and outside.

I would add that cable allows you to watch close to real-time.  I have found that streaming sucks for that.  I am significantly ahead on the game than most friends and family that I am texting with that stream.

This thread is a good reminder for me as to why I pay for the convenience of U-Verse.  I can watch everything as it is happening and I can switch immediately to other games.  Streaming also frustrates me for that reason.  My remote is smoking by the end of Saturday.

As for the other TVs, a Tablo box plugged into the antenna will allow you to stream to all of them.  Don't bother trying to tie into the coaxial split, which likely will require an amplifier if the runs are long enough.

Even on the roof, I wasn't pulling anything (towers are about 20 miles from our house, and one is VHF in the opposite direction).  A preamp after the antenna brought everything in clear as a bell.

Can you say more about this? I have an antenna for OTA but can never get FOX just right.

As others have said, YouTube (not YouTube TV) was pretty good last year. Just search for the two teams, there will be some random dude from Thailand or whatever streaming it. If it gets taken down (they usually don't) just rinse and repeat. It's YouTube so nothing sketchy.

YTTV & Fox: fix your shit and stop trying to minmax your fucking quarterly earnings using football as a hostage.

Somewhere in my junk pile I have an old OTA antenna but I don't want to fuck around with my TV setup to hook it up.  Plus I much prefer to watch games on DVR so I can skip ads.

HDHomerun box is an option too.  Especially if you use plex and want to watch OTA stuff outside your home network.  Can also set up DVR using your plex server too.

I was just reading that the current 4th Gen? Tablos don't let you stream remotely anymore like mine will.  I think there's a way to run it through Plex as well.  I had an external HD plugged into mine for a while so I could DVR the OTA broadcasts.  But I repurposed it because YTTV started carrying my locals years ago.

That is correct. I have the latest gen Tablo and I have to be inside my home network. If you're tech savvy, I think people have messed around with doing VPNs so they can watch remotely, but I've never bothered.

My current issue is getting it and my Plex server to play with my new Nest Pro wifi mesh.  I'm going to have to sit down with it this evening for some port forwarding to those two devices.
