So I came home from a trip today and find an anonymous gift on my doorstep. I had one of my kids open it in case one of my enemies was trying to take me out. Luckily, all clear.

Instead, photos attached of what is undoubtedly a @HenryJames special. Strong work. It’s going to be worth a fortune some day.

Didn’t Sark let someone go in the portal and come back a year or so ago? Am I imagining that? I know a couple of guys have said they were going to portal but weren’t actually in it.

No one who has filed the paperwork and put their name in the portal has ever returned to the Texas roster. I’m assuming that will continue to be the case.

Now, yeah, guys have come to their senses and Texas has taken them back, such as Blue and perhaps D Williams.

Bond got the money and immediately came in as an entitled diva who set all time high water marks for entitled douchebag behavior. He was unfocused, was a bad teammate and the team ultimately let him hide behind an injury to save face for the fact that he was flat out benched by the end of the season for being unreliable. Golden was the complete opposite - he came in focused and motivated to improve, and he did and was a portal success story that you'd want to identify and emulate. AD Mitchell was in-between Bond and Golden - less focused and more of a pain in the ass than Golden (his NFL pre-draft comments were accurate) but not the disaster that Bond was and Mitchell performed on the field.

I agree w this post about the portal being a total crapshoot. You might get Joe Burrow, or you might get Nico Lamaleava. That is what is concerning about the Auburn WR.

However, I never heard or read anything negative about Bond while he was at Texas. His injury is what derailed him and he tried to play through it. I spent some time with him and he was incredibly nice, and extremely grateful for what he has achieved in life and was giving back. He screwed himself AFTER he graduated w that sexual assault case. What did you hear?

You can get it tailored if it doesn’t fit.

I am considering asking for some money or I will portal to another program. My strategy is simply this:

I am asking how much Banks and Flood make. And asking for that. Considering all my years of fandom and traveling and money spent on years of nothing but losses and heart ache and years wandering the desert

I mean If we are going to pay Sark’s buddies to be on the coaching staff to suck ASSWATER and not do much worth a shit the team can pay me to watch Sark squat and call slow ass developing plays that have no hope of generating a score, I see no downside. I’m sure to see an offer soon, check’s in the mail and all that,

So USC then?

You’re not responding to someone who would be speculating. And while you might have missed it while sniffing jocks, there was plenty of discussions about Bond’s attitude heading into the 2024 season.

I will ask you since others haven't answered. What's Sark's policy on his players going into the portal?

Maybe we should ask Maalik Murphy.

There’s a poster who works in the athletic department and was on the field for the bowl game and 3 posters involved directly with NIL all saying the exact same thing and @Thatguy is still scrambling with the bullshit?

Bond’s attitude was also discussed plenty during the 2024 season, especially after his injury “lingered.” @TreatyOak wasn't paying attention.

I have absolutely no idea. He has recently whined about the lack of professionalism from player's agents, claiming many have no accreditation or understanding of the process whatsoever.

I did see an interesting TikTok created by a female volleyball player. She said it was unnerving how the minute she placed herself into the portal, she was instantly cut off from all university services such as gyms, weight rooms, health services, trainers, tutors, advisors, etc. I wonder if athletes understand that.

If you tell your employer that you are looking for another job, do you still expect to have access to the company resources?

I told my wife I wanted a divorce over lunch.

That night she didn't make me anything for dinner and didn't want to have sex.

Weird. I'm... unnerved.

I would think the athletic department would have a “don’t be posting on fanboy websites” policy.

  1. I don’t care that much

  2. I don’t actually believe that all the people on here with claims of double-top-secret information actually have that information. It’s more likely a fanboy forum flex that isn’t verifiable. $30,000 millionaires who can afford to fund players/NIL are not putzing around on a forum such as this.

The richest man in the world bought an entire social media platform because his feelings were hurt. You'd be surprised.

Don’t some schools allow the players to still have access if they are in the portal? I wanna say I read that somewhere.

Cuck University?

What is funny is that there are certain posters who are very well connected to the program and people around it and are merely sharing what they know—not for style points, surly cred or trying to wield some kind of power. Because this is a fan forum and people like to be anonymous and share or give some context to a particular situation that they happen to have information about. Like it don’t like it but I happen to have met some of these people and if they say “this is what is happening” I’d trust them 💯 over any other asshole on any other site. Even if that asshole is well known. Just sayin’

Well it’s pretty funny for someone who ain’t never been to a tailgate and has no clue who some of us are in real life nor the money spent or the time and money spent by some on this very site (including our fair leader) to keep Longhorn football 🏈 where it needs to be. So we can bitch and nitpick about individual players and not be staring into the abyss. There’s some dudes on this site that have fucking kept shit rolling.

Side note: there are so many good gifs to choose from when you search “head shake”, I had a hard time choosing. Even an old Godzilla for on there. And a Smurf.

Eventually all communication between humans will just be gifs sent back and forth.

Reminiscent of Bumblebee communicating with Sam and what’s-her-name played by Megan Fox using only audio clips.

It only gets awkward when another Surly Horns poster asks what your handle is at a tailgate.

I mean, WTF is the point of having one if you divulge that?

College athletes were thrilled when the portal became a thing, and it has paid off for many.

However, what is interesting (and slightly funny) is that so many assumed it was all upside, except for two little icky things:

1: Leaving for more playing time/money is great...if you can find a better situation. For every Joe Burrow story, there are two Tate Martells.

2: Players can come in and replace YOU

Who???!

Scrambling? I've remained steadfast in my stance. Someone asked why would the coach lie. I pointed out the coach's policy on entering the portal. It's understood that you cannot receive official offers until you are in the portal, but there is our coach saying call us back if you don't get the offer you think you are worth.

The point is he is doing that to protect the program reputation. Now we all understand that is what you are supposed to do. We expect that. But make no mistake it is still a lie. Just like the coach doesn't come out and say he pushed out 12(random number) players because they weren't good enough. To protect the program.

Now I know a lot of people played sports here and a lot didn't, but coaches nowadays use playing time to force kids to drop out of their program. It's the PC era. They even do it at the high school level.

My daughter is a high school senior. She committed to play college vball the July before her junior year. That December her college coach got fired. The coaching search took a few months, but then the new coach called immediately after being hired and said she was reevaluating her needs. The previous coach had misevaluated and had a bunch of dead weight on the roster. We knew she was going to have to push someone out to make room for us because the previous coach was honest about her mistake and cryptically said the same. This season goes by and two of her scholarshipped outside hitters immediately go in the portal. She didn't tell them they no longer have a scholarship. She told them she didn't see much of a role going forward. Kids wanna play so of course they are gonna go elsewhere. I am sure no one that hopped in the portal for us was told their NIL was being taken away. I am sure every player still woulda got their money to stand on the sideline. However, if you tell a kid who had dreams of making it to the next level your role will be significantly reduced, they are going to leave 90% of the time. Money on the table or not.

That is all I am saying.

For me, this wasn't even about Parker as much as it was the amount of kids being pushed out or choosing to leave in general. We seem to be losing more than we are getting back and all it takes is an injury or two and you are ass out.

There are 4,000 players in the portal. This isn't a Texas problem. Stop.

Parker's cryptic tweet about Texas was bullshit.

Then he quickly follows that up with interest in blOU.

He's like Fredo -- just keeps doing stupid shit...
