Harbaugh is a crazy cheating booger eating denier. No no and plus they’d find a way to suspend him for meatchicken

I don't think anyone is suggesting we hire Harbaugh.  It was part of the NFL <> college discussion.

I have zero interest in replacing Sark.

Bit of a stretch. Sark has said in interviews why he prefers the college game over the pros. That opinion might have changed now for numerous reasons but it’s not because Sark thinks the college game is beneath him.

Sark’s PR team lets puff pieces like this come out about how much he loves Alabama and then bounces for the Texas HC job 2 weeks later. Words don’t mean shit.

Steve Sarkisian Looks Back On Filling In For Nick Saban: "I Wanted To Do the Best Job For the University"

It doesn't appear that the 46-year old coordinator is leaving the Capstone any time soon

Tyler Martin| Dec 29, 2020

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Even if it was for only one game, University of Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian was back as an acting head coach after Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Iron Bowl last month.

He led the team during the Walk of Champions and out of the tunnel before coaching the Crimson Tide to a 42-13 beatdown of the in-state rivals.

It was the first time in over five years that Sarkisian had been in that position since he left USC.

"Obviously it was a unique scenario," Sarkisian said on Tuesday during his Rose Bowl media availability. "And it was one that I just wanted to do the best job I could do for the university, for our football program, for Coach Saban. And ultimately it was about the players. The guys played their tails off in that game. They played really well in all three phases, and I just kind of did my part the best I could. And again, I didn't want to lose sight of what my initial role always is, and that's to have our offense ready to play and to call plays.

"So the end result, it was an awesome opportunity. It was great to kind of be back in that role for a few hours. But the reality of it is it was about the players and their performance. And I was proud of the way they played in the game."

The 2020 Broyles Award winner is nearing the end of his second year leading Alabama's offense and it's one of the most effective units in the country, averaging 49.7 points and 544 total yards a game which both lead the nation.

Under his leadership, the Crimson Tide offense has scored 35-or-more points in 24 straight contests, which is the longest in modern college football history.

"I think Sark has done an outstanding job in terms of, first of all, system and scheme; secondly, in terms of how he teaches the players," Saban said earlier this week. "And he's a very good quarterback coach. So he's really helped the development of the quarterback. I think Mac [Jones] would be the first one to probably tell you that.. He's contributed as much as anybody that we've ever had here in terms of his knowledge and experience and how he manages the offensive side of the ball."

Sarkisian has also played a massive role in developing redshirt junior signal caller Mac Jones who is a Heisman Trophy finalist, along with senior wide out DeVonta Smith.

In a shortened season game with only 11 games, Jones has thrown for 3,739 yards, 27 touchdowns, and leads the nation in yards per attempt (11.4) and completion percentage (76.5).

"Coach Sark, you can see it on the field, he calls great players, great at developing players," Jones said. "All the players love him. We're all behind Coach Sark 100 percent. And he's an aggressive player caller, and it shows on the field. And we love how he adjusts to what we're saying and telling him, too. Some offensive coordinators probably don't listen to their players as much, but he definitely takes in what we tell him and what we see on the field, and we kind of combine to come up with a game plan and even in-game adjustments."

After reportedly turning down a chance to interview with Auburn for its vacant coaching job earlier this month and pulling his name out of the Colorado search a year ago, it appears Sarkisian wants to stay in Tuscaloosa and isn't ready to hop back into a head-coaching role just yet.

Sarkisian is already one of the nation's highest-paid assistants at $2.5 million and he could very well be in line for a hefty raise and extension this offseason

The 46-year old coordinator seems fine leading Alabama's high-powered offense for the foreseeable future and becoming, possibly, the next great story in Saban's long list of former head coaches who he has rehabilitated.

All Sarkisian says he wants to be at the moment is a sponge, soaking up all the knowledge he can from one of the game's very best.

"I don't know what he's learned from me," Sarkisian said of his relationship with Saban. "But I would say, at the end of the day, I've just tried to be a sponge here, man. I had a choice here two years ago with some other opportunities, and had the opportunity to come back here to Alabama. I jumped on the opportunity, not just to coach the players and be part of the team, but to be around him. Coach Saban is the best ever to do it. And then a year ago I had a couple opportunities to become a head coach, and I decided to come back because I felt like my work here wasn't done. I felt like I owed it to him. I made a commitment to him to be part of this program. And I just try to do the best I can do. I try to be the best version of Steve Sarkisian every day that I show up and be a sponge, all of the aspects of the program that he has his fingerprint on, which is literally everything.

"And I think probably the biggest thing I've learned from him is his ability to balance all aspects of the program, whether it's on the field, off the field, recruiting, all that goes into being a head coach at a place like Alabama. Those are all the things that I've tried to take in from him because his balance of all of that, I think, is what is pretty incredible."

So did Saban.

Maybe actual coaching acumen gets handcuffed in the NFL corporate world. There's more delegation, not conducive for hands-on guys.

Damn you, I did anyway. Sark is 51st, on the list, and he’s young enough but this ain’t his first rodeo. Not saying he likes losing but he knows losses happen. Playoffs are all that matters now that it has expanded.

God damn that is absolutely beyond abominable. How is that possible with everything he has been given? Money? ✔️ Recruiting top 5 classes for four years? ✔️ great DC? ✔️ DL coach? ✔️ freak athletes like Hill, Simmons, and Lance Jackson? ✔️ Inhereted 2 DT that went in the 1st and 2nd rd? ✔️Inhereted 2 DL that went 2nd rd and 7th in the 3rd rd? ✔️ intereted first rd Thorpe winner and added a 2nd rd portal? ✔️ Portaled a first & second rd WR, recruited a first rd WR? ✔️ Two  number 1 rated QB recruits in their classes? ✔️ Top WRs in their classes? ✔️

Avg PPG 2022 - 34.5

Avg PPG 2023 - 35.8

Avg PPG 2024 - 33.0

Avg PPG 2025 - 26.7

It's gone down every single year (2022 being the outlier). How is this possible with recruiting in the top 1-5?

He's fucked himself like Strong by hiring retreads in Kyle Flood and Jeff Banks, his buddies. He didn't hire offensively like he did defensively because they all three just coached at Bama. The same Bama that is a revolving door for coaches and yet still won. I wonder if that was because of the HC? It's like he learned nothing.

Yeah, that's just not cutting it. I dont care how stubborn you are, if you can't see the issues start with you and change in offensive approach is needed, then you may be a lost cause.

The thing is if our Oline wasn’t atrocious and sark was calling the offense specifically to play to arch’s strengths (see 4th quarter last night) the offense would be rolling, we might be undefeated and no one would ever be talking about this shit ever,

but Sark went awol for 30 days to start 2025, missed the Junior Day, jettisoned spring practice, did not address anything with the OLine, went to NFL light no contact practices, had no clue we sucked this bad until we got beat by Ohio State and there is messy personal shit being gossiped about. And now an Athletic article and a weird non-denial denial. So now everyone who was happy with Sark or those who never ever wanted to be this frustrated with the man are now paying rapt attention to every misstep he makes now. The whole thing sucks. I just wish he could rein himself in as playcaller and look at the 4th quarter and do that shit and stop trying to do shit that ain’t working. This would be my hope, he can pull his head out of his ass and whatever is the off the field shit and focus and address the damn Oline and work on restraining his need to handicap the offense and the team with bullshit play calling that don’t work. Thats what I try to hope for despite nothing in his history suggesting he is adaptable or whatever. He just goes back to default mode Sark. Damnit.

Why do we do this to ourselves. Marcus freeman isn’t coming to Texas. My proof is how big dick Texas didn’t land any big names the last “checks notes” 3 coaching searches. We got Charlie(thanks Mack) then Herman who was at Houston and then sark. But this time we’re gonna go poach Marcus freeman at ND? Hahaha. If sark even leaves which I doubt he does, we’re gonna end up something that kinda good but kinda disappointing kinda like sark. He’s been great and this season has been a huge wtf is going on.

I guess. CFB and NFL are just completely different worlds now.
Modern day NFL head coaches work their way up through the system. Pete Carroll might be the only one right now with serious CFB coaching bona fides.

That’s my thought. Will someone even hire him in the NFL? You don’t see a lot of cfb coaches go to the nfl. Rhule, Saban, Carrol, lol kingsbury. Forgot about him, so i guess sark could get hired but kingsbury was actually a good oc.

My point is it's not the 90s anymore. The NFL became a corporate entity and most of the HCs are nameless and faceless personalities. It is a "better" job in title only.

College HCs have to recruit, so having an engaging personality is part of the job.

Does anyone actually think Nick Sirianni is a better football coach than say, Urban Meyer? Does anyone know what Nick Sirianni did before he got the Eagles job?

Nick Sirianni is a Super Bowl winning head coach.

That is bigger professional accomplishment than anything Urban Meyer has ever done.

Bullshit.  Urban kept Aaron Hernandez from killing people at the University of Florida.  Or at least he was able to keep said murders covered up, which is something even Bill Belichick couldn't do.

Game.  Set.  Match.

I prefer Sark stay and be adaptable but if he wants to leave or if he stays and next season looks worse than this one then start the search. To be clear I feel we should have interviews with multiple candidates and go for Freeman. Obviously. So the below candidate is just someone I think should interview if sark bolts or we are forced to fire him down the road. And freeman says fuck off.

Just throwing out a random name: Josh Grizzard. In addition to his awesomely being born in Lizard Lick, North Carolina he’s young. 35. The OC for Tampa Bay. And baker and TB are fucking rolling. Grizzard Played safety at Yale and got his master’s from Duke. Has steadily worked his way up.

But he will likely be poached as a HC for some of the foreseeable NFL vacancies. And he hasn’t been a HC yet. He’s just intriguing. He’s a kid just starting out though but so far a great start.

I just see him as one of many candidates to interview if we end up Sarkless. Lots of credible buzz around this guy.

I just know he is definitely on a few different wishlists for teams who will be needing a new HC but not wanting to hire a retread candidate.

FWIW - I do…. He was the OC for the Colts during Luck’s final year and for 2 more years.  In 2019, he was the OC that helped Indy win 7 games with a QB room of Bisset, Hoyer, and Chad Kelly.  In 2020, Colts went 11-5 with Phillip Rivers as QB.  In 2021, he went to the Eagles.

Funny (or not), that 2019 staff had HC Frank Reich, OC Sirianni, DC Eberflus, DB coach Gannon, OL coach Strausser (now at Houston in same role).

I have no idea if Sirianni is a good coach, but his major roles have been with organizations who have their shit together.  Indy’s front office is extremely competent (Anthony Richardson daft pick notwithstanding).  And the Eagles might have the best GM in the league right now.  He’s not screwing it up, so that is something.

EDIT to add: yeah - he won a Super Bowl…. Pretty important in the NFL.  If he ever starts to suck, he’ll be in the retread pipeline for as long as he’d like.

Hey Michael what if hear me out…that other people have been talking and knew about Sark’s personal shit that has nothing at all to do with my BMD.

My BMD just knew the actual date that loser Herman would be fired before he was in fact fired and the press even knew. Most people have known about Sark’s personal shit in some form or fashion for over a year and most knew about his 30 day absence from 2025 and now that he has made such a mess of the offseason that it affected our games and the fact that the Athletic came out with this article do people NOW feel comfortable saying what they know. My source ain’t CTJ’s source but you ain’t jumping up his ass.

my BMD didn’t tell me any of the PERSONAL sark shit he really doesn’t care if Sark blows goats for fun.

I explained that a have a close friend who knows both sark and his wife well and knew his wife well before Sark left his first wife for Loreal. in my opinion, how you get someone is how you lose them.

Multiple people knew about his personal shit for a long time and didn’t say nothing and were discouraged from saying things bc most of the chiclet brains here think sark is an untouchable god.

Neither my friend nor my BMD are the reason sark’s personal shit is all over fucking Reddit. It’s all over the fucking internet bc sark is messy. People know bc his wife is messy. If you keep your shit in house people won’t know about your shit enough to gossip about it. Unfortunately, when things aren’t going well for a coach in a season particularly bc of said coach’s self inflicted wounds the gossip bursts to the surface.

So if anyone is mad about the gossips (of which there are many) I say for y’all all to Take that shit up with Sark. Or with Loreal. Or both.

Instead of getting mad at a legion of people on the internet who were openly sharing much of the gossip contained in this thread in Reddit and other forums MONTHS before Texas lost to Ohio State to start this season.

I swear to goodness that Many of you repeatedly pick on me solely cuz I have a pussy rather than picking on guys who act like pussies. Go figure.

You're kind of making my point for me though. The NFL and CFB have basically separated into two different entities at this point. The "minor" leagues to becoming an NFL coach is to be an NFL assistant and work your way up.

My hope is because we have a competent and extremely competitive Athletic Director in CDC.

Steve Patterson hired Charlie Strong, and Mike Perrin hired Tom Herman. CDC hasn't totally missed yet. Yes, we're in a tail spin over Sarkisian, but at the very least he got us to two CFP semis, regardless of whose players were recruited by whom.

CDC fucking loves the Director's Cup. He loves it more than anyone on here loves their wives or husbands or whomever. For whatever reason that piece brings him the most joy in life, second only to his pay, and third to his spouse. I don't know if he'll hire Freeman, but he'll hire a winner.

Steve Sarkisian Looks Back On Filling In For Nick Saban: "I Wanted To Do the Best Job For the University"

It doesn't appear that the 46-year old coordinator is leaving the Capstone any time soon

Those are all the things that I've tried to take in from him because his balance of all of that, I think, is what is pretty incredible."

Your reply to me on Sark not thinking the college level is beneath him, is a puff piece tactic used by any coaches agent when they have interest in other jobs? Those two things aren’t even connected at all. If Sark actually believed the college level is beneath him, he would have left a long time ago. The article carry’s more weight if you were trying to suggest he’s leaving for another job even after what his agency released and the post game presser comment.

We are?

The board is in all kinds of disarray, whichever way you are. I'm personally not, because I know CDC would hire a good coach. But I see all over this board to either keep him, let him go, who cares, etc. So "we" just means as a collective of people. Like I said, I've written or even haven't said I care one way or another other than my mentioning of Freeman (to me would be a perfect fit, but that's just my personal opinion).

I am not good at spin speak but just to clarify that this ⬇️ IMG_8717.thumb.jpeg.869898e9104aa4be5381619adc986785.jpeg

means this ⬇️

Right?

PR Spin is some tricky shit.

Sark is like insulting our intelligence here by doubling down on rage. Sending out feelers in September? He’d have walked if the titans offered and left us hanging.

Damn, don’t like that. JMO

I don't think anyone is suggesting we hire Harbaugh.  It was part of the NFL <> college discussion.

I have zero interest in replacing Sark.

Freeman would be a home run hire and the type of hire Texas should make.

Why would Freeman leave Notre Dame for Texas?

Why would Brian Kelly leave Notre dame for lsu?

The reason Kelly left for LSU is no longer applicable with the expanded playoffs.  ND is probably the easiest place to make the CFP.  It's an OG blue blood with a massive and wealthy fanbase, two things that will drive NIL.

There's no reason for Freeman to leave there for Texas.  Y'all are having your "but we're Texas" delusions again.

I was just tossing out his name because I would like him as our coach, and he's very likeable and knows what he wants and needs. He adapts. Others are bringing it to life.

I should have gone with Nick Saban. I bet he would take this job.

Because he's a stupid asshole who thought winning at LSU would be easier than winning at an independent school that plays a shit schedule? And probably knew the people at ND were tired of his bitch ass?

Who is having delusions? I guess Florida had delusions too because he was their top choice. But I guess Texas should once again just settle for a head football coach instead of making it happen with their potential top candidate that has been proven to happen. Seems to have worked out very well for us.
