2019 Texas Softball - Connie's overboard, Anchors Aweigh!

Hope Texas trainers are doing a great job getting Elish ready for Bama...

Does ESPN(alias sec lovers) get to decide to start the Bama/Texas series on Thursday instead of Friday?

I'm guessing they chose Texas/Bama for Thursday due to marquee P5 match-up and national popularity of Elish...

It will all come down to hitting this weekend for the Horns. Alabama can really swing the bats, and will score runs. The question is can Texas piece together enough offense to keep pace. If Bama has a weakness, it is their pitching staff...and I do mean staff. They may use 3-4 pitchers this weekend, and all of them can be had, by a good offensive team. Montana Fouts, the freshman, is their best pitcher, but she has had some rough outing sprinkled in this season as well. I sat and watched Murray State put up 10 runs on Bama this year at the Troy tournament, so they can be scored on. I believe that Mike White and the Horns will need some innings from someone other than Elish to win the series. Bama is too good offensively to throw the same pitcher for 21 innings.

Agreed,

Brooke and Shea need to eat some innings

Iakopo, Shannon, Burke, Washington, Hathaway, Jefferson and even Elish herself need to get hits and string them together.

Rhoads is 200 down the line and 220 to center.  Same as McCombs. But the outfield walls are way lower.

Well which schedule is right for Fri/Sat?  The tweet Machinator posted is different than the schedule Cairn Horn88 posted.  I'm assuming the tweet is correct since it states the times have been updated...

CairnHorn's is from yesterday, before the updated times.

The computers (Massey) gives the chances of the home team winning the super regional as follows:

Florida - 63%
Alabama - 69% (nice)
Minnesota - 70%
Florida State - 70%
Washington - 72%
Arizona - 81%
UCLA - 81%
OU - 94%

Ok...so, all we have to do is take out OU and Bama to get to the final 4.  Got it.  What a challenge...this year.

That’s not how it works. Just like baseball, after the supers it’s more 4 team double elimination.  I’m not sure if that bracket indicates that the winners from each side go in the same bracket, but if so we would be in the same bracket with ou should both of us advance. But in theory we wouldn’t necessarily have to beat them to advance to the championship series if the other teams beat them twice.

Also the loser of the 1-0 game in each 4 team WCWS bracket flips brackets. So if you win your first game and lose your second, you don’t face the team you lost to until the champ series.

in 2013, we beat ASU and then lost to OU. We flipped into the other side, beat Florida and then had to beat Tenn twice to face OU again (which we didn’t)

I didn't know that.  It's hard to beat Candrea when it comes to recruiting pitchers (he's probably only behind Gasso in that regard, and just ahead of Mike).

You know White has no qualms about trying to flip her.  He's not Connie in that regard.  Do it Mike.  Give us 6 straight years of an Elish in the circle.

Minneapolis Super is completely sold out. Tickets that hadn't been bought by season ticketholders went on sale at 9 this morning and were gone by 10.

Good Luck !     Beat LSU and the SEC.

Great, well coached team,  great fans.   Really enjoyed the visit to Austin in the past though Texas is 1-4.   Coach Trachsel is the real deal.

Less than 12 hours from first pitch of the 2019 Tuscaloosa Super Regional with Texas and Alabama.

In terms of NCAA metrics, this is as close as it gets (Texas RPI 7, Alabama RPI 8).

The computers disagree - Alabama 3, Texas 14.  Alabama #6 PWR, #8 offense, #8 defense, #19 SOS.  Texas #11 PWR, #29 offense, #7 defense, #12 SOS

Texas' pitching has to keep them in these games.  Here's hoping the key players in the lineup (Jefferson, Hathaway, Washington, Iakopo, Rhodes, Elish and Burke) have found something after the offensive explosion for this team on Sunday.  Texas' offensive strategy: one big inning.

Hard to believe the current Texas defense is ranked #7.  Besides hitting better, Horns defense really needs to step up in this series.  Also not sure why Horns have made so many dumb base running mistakes -- Coaches better get that crap fixed for Bama series.

Time to kick some Bama A$$... 🤘

Got damn. Is every player on their team obese? I don’t understand how they have any defensive abilities at all

Is their roster 37 people for all the fatties needing pinch runners?
