  1. Past hour
  2. lewis black first tried his hand at being a playwright. he thought he'd broken through when he made the Alley, which he described as AAA level. the play bombed, so on opening night he found himself at a bar, in houston, on open mic night, and just started riffing. the rest is history.
  3. A whole lot of people are going to be going hungry soon. ABC News reporting that most house holds will spend an extra $2400 a year on items. For a house that’s already pay check to pay check - an extra $200 a month is going to hurt.
  4. Wrong. Good job Chicago.
  5. So far, we have following Surly-ites attending game (with total guest): @BurntEyes (2) @GottaB (6-8) @Longboard Horn (?) @TxEx84 (8) @BrazilHorn (?) @YChang (?) Miss anyone? To catch everyone up on previous discussions, if enough people want to do a small tailgate (have a central place to congregate), we can start planning. This will be nothing like the awesome tailgates put on by @immamac and others at Michigan and Alabama games. My plans are also uncertain on Saturday as I'll be herding cats in my group. But assuming we move forward, there are a few options. 1) Use RevelXP to setup up tailgate. Issues are cost ($1200 for small tent) and location. On the map below, only the orange box areas are available for a single game. Small areas and not near most of "the scene". The area in the blue box is RevelXP tents for season rentals. Absolutely would pay for tent in blue box, but cannot at this time. 2) Setup our own tailgate. Buy parking passes in the Blue Lot. Can buy tent for $150 at Costco or rent one for weekend. Would allow us to pack a car or two with food and drinks and have it next to tent. 3) Meet sometime in the afternoon at a bar/restaurant. Watch early games and the do own thing before game. Again, I'm not sure my own schedule on Saturday, so TBD for me if I can make. @BurntEyes mentioned this place: https://charliebrownslex.com/. Could do just this or meet here first, then tailgate. 4) Do nothing. You guys are from the Internet! Very scary meeting in person.
  6. Lol. I've got some friends who have had various older family members visit a Hedonism site, and the stories they get are that it's basically like The Villages in Florida, but slightly younger. Just a bunch of 50-65 year old ugly people looking to get their rocks off with strangers. It's basically like a cruise ship on dry land. Now that I think about it, it might be the final, inevitable stop in the evolution of Disney Adults.
  7. i'm not saying you're wrong, but man season 3 is fucking great. also they smoked apple cigarettes. but several cast members who had given up real cigarettes started smoking again after repeating the motion so often in the show.
  8. Nice progress report on transfers from Bobby Burton: Now that the team has finished six days of practice, there are a few questions we can answer with a little more definitiveness (based on both what we’ve seen and what we’ve heard). Here’s one of the biggest ones I had going into camp: What role will each of the portal transfers play for the team in 2025? ** QB Matthew Caldwell - Caldwell is a little better than perhaps what the Texas personnel and coaching staff expected. Not from a talent standpoint, but from a leadership and professionalism one. He takes every snap seriously, and pays attention to the details. He is the odds-on favorite to be the team’s back-up heading into Columbus. WR Emmett Mosley V - He was expected to be a starter when he was brought to Texas and that remains the expectation after six practices. With Ryan Wingo and Parker Livingstone, Mosley adds another good-sized receiver that is both faster and quicker than you might expect. The o/u for number of receptions is 45 this season IMO with 5 TDs. Note: he could be a key third-down receiver for Arch Manning. TE Jack Endries - Unsurprisingly, six days into practice, Endries is running with the first unit. Endries has been perhaps more athletic, often able to leave his feet for catches, than first thought, while he may not be as explosive as or have the catch radius of a Gunnar Helm. Similar to Mosley, Endries will undoubtedly be a key piece of the offense. O/u on receptions is 57. DT Maraad Watson - When I say that folks inside the building are extremely high on Watson, there are no two ways about it. Watson is seen as a real steal. He is expected to be a rotational starter and has opened eyes all camp long. He is a very good athlete for his size. I’m not sure Texas would trade the tandem of Watson and Alex January with any sophomore duo in the country. DT Travis Shaw - The combo of Shaw and Watson is almost unheard of in the portal. Texas got an elite younger player in Watson and a more seasoned bigger player in Shaw. A former five star, this is Shaw’s contract year and he’s treating it as such. Texas thinks getting his knee scoped and holding him out of spring ball is just what the doctor ordered. He will be a rotational starter and has a chance to be a higher draft pick than one might think. DT Cole Brevard - Run-stopper up the middle. Brevard has been a pleasant surprise, in large part because of his work ethic. He has not stopped working since he got to campus. Expect 25-35 snaps per game later in the year, perhaps less early in the September heat. DT Hero Kanu - Kanu is a well-rounded player who lacks an elite aspect to his game. He’s not super big, and he’s not super quick. Yet he is solid and will likely see 15-25 snaps per game. The plan is to rotate the DTs heavily, especially early in the year when the heat can be so debilitating. DT Lavon Johnson - Johnson has been a sneakily good player at times during camp. Held out early because of a sprained ankle, Johnson shows good ability against the run and surprising quickness at times. Somewhat similar to Kanu, we expect 15-20 snaps per game. Edge/LB Brad Spence - Ask any player on the Texas roster who the most physically impressive player is and, despite his smaller overall size, you’re sure to get many of them who will say Spence. As one player said, “he’s rocked up.” Texas will be using him primarily as a pass rusher in 2025. And he could be a surprisingly huge asset in that regard. O/u on sacks is 8. K Mason Shipley - Shipley, the Liberty Hill product and Texas State transfer, is very likely your starting kicker. I say likely only because final decisions usually aren’t made until there’s a final competition for the job during scrimmage situations. But there has been nothing from camp to lead anyone to believe he won’t win the job. P Jack Bouwmeester - If I had to bet on one portal transfer earning an all-conference nod, it would be Bouwmeester. O/u 45 yards per punt. ** The portal class was definitely underrated by national folks. But if there is one piece that is lacking, it might be that true, older first-round level pick. Someone like Matthew Golden last year or Adonai Mitchell the year before. Travis Shaw has an outside chance to be that. Endries, though very good, is unlikely to be drafted that highly. However, Texas certainly seems to have hit paydirt with Watson, Mosley and Spence among the younger players with multiple years of eligibility remaining. And Bouwmeester could be a real difference maker as well
  9. I’ve asked his text messages to stop 4 times now, and I still receive them. I’m a Democrat but I’m looking forward to voting against him just for this.
  10. as is the case in pretty much every city in america.
  11. Any decent hotels near the Houston location?
  12. Speaking of, if you take out the MSST and ULM games Arch started, will Owens/Caldwell get more cumulative minutes/appearances/drives than Arch got in 2024? We had trouble putting away bad opponents at times and that kept Arch from coming on during blowouts
  13. That was infuriating. I remember thinking "just throw it up for grabs like JFF made a career of, Gunner has to be roaming around somewhere!"
  14. I will say the porting of the bag turned out to be great. It carried our night stuff (liners, deodorant, ear plugs, sleep mask), charging cords and plugs, hut shoes and then our extra clothes. We carried a change of clothes, rain gear (which we needed), poles when not using them and our cold weather layers with us everyday in our packs. The nights where we would not get our bag we would add the night bag, hut shoes and chargers to our packs. With water, my pack was about 16lbs and the wife's was about 11lbs. If you haven't already, explore the site below that has some of the booking information and cost of most of the refugios. The hiking club app will show you other refugios along your path that you can also contact. I would be shocked if you could not beat that quote by 30%-40% if you booked yourself; especially if you are going solo and don't mind staying in dorms! Ear plugs and sleep mask work great!!! https://www.montourdumontblanc.com/uk/il4-tmb_p36-welcome-to-this-site.aspx
  15. But yknow, as long as the richies are doing it to other richies, wgaf? As long as the richies aren't doing unto the rest of us.
  16. THeir backup is Miss St JAG Micael Van Buren, or converted Safety Ju'Juan Johnson. Johnson, from what I can tell, was a 5'11 HS QB, who they converted to S, and then to RB, and now is a backup QB. I like where this is headed.
  17. This is the best thing I've read this year. Dumbass hopefully learned a lesson. Here's the Chronicle story: https://www.chron.com/food/article/trump-burger-beainy-ice-immigration-20807205.php
  18. he had way too much press on his way out from UNC back to Austin. btw, he reminds me of my dad, so believe me, I do everything I can to avoid looking at or listening to Mack.
  19. And his wife's whorish exposed shoulders, which everybody knows are much less classy than exposed white implanted tits.
  20. You have to look at the competition also. Texas is the SEC favorite at +270. The other SEC contenders are considered to be Georgia (+330), Bama (+380), and LSU (+700). Georgia and Bama are breaking in inexperienced players. LSU is only one of the top 4 teams that has an experienced QB and they are not on the schedule. The other big game Texas has is OSU, who is breaking in a new QB.
  21. Nailed it. Even the stache, lulz.
