How many FG did Arch have?
-
It's a lot more than that, but it's also tough to quantify (paging @PTINS ). They are refining far less, but they are exporting far less, so they are close to staying even on being able to refine what they need internally. This is a decent breakdown. https://carnegieendowment.org/russia-eurasia/politika/2025/10/russia-refinery-damages?lang=en That was from October, and it's safe to say their capacity has dropped a lot since then, at least temporarily. As things continue, their ability to repair refineries will drop as spare parts become scarce. Plus, when refineries are hit repeatedly, there comes a point where they may have to basically be rebuilt, which takes a long time. And you don't even have to wreck a refinery if the pipelines/pumping stations are wrecked and oil can't be moved (they can't store as much as we do). Having to export oil and then re-import the refined end-product is also telling. Ukrainian capacity to hit them hard and hit them deep is only increasing as well, both with drones, but also with their long-range missiles coming online, and Russian air defenses continue to be degraded. I don't think it was 38% (the article is probably right 38% was the upper range), but I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the 20s (only offset because they are exporting less). I don't think 2 years, but I think we will know how things will shake out over the next 6 months, because the tempo is such that Russia refining capacities are going to drop double-digits going forward and as more air defenses are destroyed/exhausted, we will see a lot more targets taken out.

Ignore above post. Wrong thread

ya know, it's funny how these "prediction market" goons are now advocating for the use of insider information in their markets. This feels like nothing but a means for Don Jr to extract some money from useful idiots

Production per $ has to be involved now. If it was just lol free dude plays football, yeah keep Wingo. He gives up on plays too much and falls down when someone looks at him wrong in open space. That isn't "top 10 WR in the country money" worthy. He's not even top 5 in the SEC from a pure statistical standpoint and he's 56 in the country when you look at all conferences. He's good, but he's not GREAT. He currently gets paid GREAT money. Other people who got paid GREAT money - Xavier Worthy, Matthew Golden. He's categorically not the same as them on the field, potential wise I would say he's equal or close.

2021 - Is inflation finally back in the conversation?
Captainant replied to Reagan1k's topic in Business and Markets
If you aren't you're saying all the same arguments that an AI apologist offers. You keep going back to the fallacy of it being a useful bubble - none of this hardware is long-term viable. The reality is there's been billions, if not trillions, of debt taken out to fund these data center build outs. The majority of that spending has been to buy nvidia chips. There's gigawatts of unused nvidia chips sitting around because they can't build out the data centers because of how unique and specialized they are to run genAI workloads. Each rack takes 600KW of power to run, is liquid cooled, and requires specialized network infrastructure to properly operationalize. And for all that effort, they aren't making ANY profit or net positive revenue. Each query they service costs more than they charge for it. -
Ive long thought that Bidens unstated policy was to bleed Russia dry. I feel less confident that what goes on now. I had hoped that someone could convince trump that his legacy could be to be the president that brought down Russia. Think of all the awards he would receive. I was stupid to think that. The collateral damage is too awful and now I want a just peace. That's not going to happen anytime soon. I think about the F Scott Fitzgerald quote often, "there will be a century of middle class love spent here."
-
I believe a 6% figure is woefully less than the impaired refining capacity at this point. I would love to know the date and source of that figure. I don’t think that a 6% reduction would result in a nationwide fuel crisis so severe that it requires purchasing refined gas from China. I would think at least 25% by now, and very likely more.

What traits are those?

There's people who get so far down a wrong line of thinking that they let it take over everything in their brains, for fear of admitting they were wrong. Your dad is unfortunately one of them it sounds like. He doesn't want to admit that he wrongly trusted a fascist, and so he's lying to himself to soften the blow to his ego. There's lots of people like that these days.

That's an outright act of war to blockcade a country. Black and white, that's definitionally an act of war

Germany and Poland are really ramping things up in a way that the US is not. Sweden and Finland got off the neutrality fence and did some conference realignment/expansion when they've held out for over 70 years. Various European nations and defense companies are ramping up arms production, upgrading systems, adding systems, etc. I don't think Europe is aligned with the US anymore. Trump sees this as just a real-estate deal, if Ukraine will give up some, Russia will be happy. Europe is taking the stance that it will just buy Putin time to re-arm and try and fill out the ranks.
-
What had to worry US planners is the possibility that by helping to destroy Russia thoroughly, all they would be doing is transferring a large part of Russia’s massive natural resources to China after it seizes large parts of eastern Russia - or at least those parts of Eastern Russia to which China currently has a historical claim. it was/is probably a valid concern that if Ukraine succeeded too successfully, Russia would use tactical nukes to counteract that success. With other countries you could discount that possibility, but Russian leaders are such self-interested lunatics focusing only on their own survival, that the well-being of their citizens - or their country - or their neighbors - or the world - is not one of their considerations in the decision to deploy those weapons

nah, still lose to tOSU, Georgia, and Florida.

I really hope you're right. But I've lost all faith in this electorate. Once they started winning Latinos and Gen Z, I lost hope. A lot of those folks need to be flipped or we're in for a bleak generation.

They’ve been doing that since October 1 this year. Gonna get pantsed in the playoffs.

This is a good post. But, art has long been commoditized by capitalists. There's a reason "starving artist" was a stereotype long before AI came around. AI is just a leap in that exploitation. Maybe a final gambit? I don't think Cuban is 100% incorrect. AI can be a great tool for the artist. I don't mean oh, go prompt your way to "Citizen Kane." But using AI to storyboard a concept? To make a demo to help sell an idea? To rapidly iterate through ideas to get where to where there is a clear vision of what you want to produce? As a means of continuing education to hone your craft? Those are all ways AI is going to help legitimate artists create and/or be better artists without replacing them as an artist. I know a guy who is a singer songwriter in Nashville who is pretty enamored with AI. He's not a starving artist, he's had some tunes cut by people with names you would recognize. He's not using AI to come up with lyrics and chords. He does that. But at that point, he's using it to produce quality demos to shop to people looking for songs. He can go from a song he wrote that he can play on guitar and sing to pseudo-professional and shoppable demo in hours. He loves AI and doesn't fear it in the least. I use it a lot to "hone my craft". One of the better ways to learn music theory right now is to just chat with ChatGPT about it while sitting at a piano validating what it tells you. I say that as someone with a mid-level understanding of music theory that is using ChatGPT to increase that understanding. Is it as good as a Berkeley school of music education? No, but its better than static youtube video content because I can ask questions, delve into what its saying and direct it where I want the lesson to go. Ultimately, it helps me be better at what I love doing at a commitment level I can make. If this is all AI was going to be for the arts, it would be a great and empowering tool. But that's not going to be all it will be. People like Cuban are going to use it as a way to further commoditize the arts. Streamline efficiency and cost optimize its production so the capitalist can capitalize. But, that's not really anything new. AI is just the newest method. As always, its not the thing, its the humans directing the thing that are the fucking problem.

Last weekend in May, here we come.

There's probably a scissor thread somewhere that way in IPIHB--->

I wish it was, but now that we will be actively going after tankers, the temperature has been raised substantially.

This does not describe his base. This describes something else entirely, maybe the persuadable middle or something. I have been told repeatedly that everyone voted for Trump because of his racism and otherism. And I certainly don't disagree with that as pertains to the base. I concede that Vance has the potential to appeal to a more rational class of voters. But I don't think there are enough rational Trump supporters to get him elected.
