I can understand the frustration felt by Republicans over the unprecedented lack of a floor vote formally launching an impeachment inquiry, even though the US Constitution requires no such thing. It's a bit like refusing to consider a sitting President's nominee for the Supreme Court, although not nearly so backhanded and evil.22 points

Honest question: is this just a message board thing or are you consistently wrong all of the time in real life too? Do you try to get into other people's cars by accident when leaving the grocery store? Do you try to heat your food up by putting it in the washing machine? Do you walk around all day with shoes on the wrong feet? Just trying to paint a better picture of who I am dealing with here.20 points

This. To be clear: The President is NOT exerting Executive Privilege. He's exerting "Fuck you, I've deemed your investigation to be bullshit, so I won't comply" privilege. This is dramatically different than Eric Holder testifying under oath that high level officials were not involved in "Fast and Furious" (which is sort of a catch all phrase for a number of border gun walking programs). The House then made a broad document request that DOJ deemed to be outside the lines of investigation, delivering only a portion of the documents. Holder was convicted of contempt and the case is STILL being litigated. Holder appeared before Congress at least a half dozen times, under oath and withering testimony, acquitting himself well. Keep in mind, with Fast and Furious DOJ provided thousands of pages of documents, testimony, and background. It was only when Holder decided the GOP had gone to far afield did he object. The White House is literally refusing to provide even a scintilla of information and is attempting to block all witnesses from testifying, even for investigatory fact finding. That's not presidential prerogative, that's obstruction of justice. If you attempted that during a Grand Jury proceeding, you would be thrown in jail immediately. If this were allowed to stand, every president for the rest of time could simply say "No, your ridiculous" to any Congressional request and that would be the end of the matter.18 points

The most infuriating part of all of this is how much he's fucking up any thoughtful person's ability to make a case for a more restrained foreign policy in the future. And it'll be the assholes who right now are crowing about non-interventionism, who are the same assholes who used to call anyone who didn't support the invasion of Iraq traitors, who will be lambasting anyone who doesn't want a more interventionist foreign policy in the future. All of this shit is just a game of calvinball to them.12 points

That's what you get when you go with circumstantial evidence. That's probably why it's inadmissible in court.11 points

You guys need to slow your roll on 4th and 5. First off, he's a practicing defense attorney. That's the way he thinks. And it isn't a bad idea to challenge your own thinking on things from time to time. Second, he provides a ton of good info on these threads.9 points

And I thought that Holder and the DOJ were wrong. Because I fucking believe in the rule of law, regardless of whose fucking "team" is in power. You, on the other hand, are just fine with this administration telling the rule of law to go fuck itself. So, with all due respect, fuck the fuck off, and....8 points

He named a city after himself when he discovered Ohio. Columbus. Columbus Ohio. A lot of people don't know that. Co-lum-bus O-hi-o. People, important people. I can't tell you their names. Import people come up to me and say, "Sir, you should name a city after yourself." That's what they say to me. Maybe a district. The District of Trump instead of Columbia. It shouldn't be named after another country anyway. District of Trump. It would be so beautiful. I won't stop anyone from doing that. Trump District. District of Trump. Maybe Donald of Trump. It's a nice idea, but I wouldn't want to encourage it. But, you know, people say...8 points

If and when we throw Urquidy/Peacock out there, I move that we hereafter refer to this "bullpen" lineup as "Urqock." Example sentence: We're going to ram Urqock into the Yankees' collective pee-holes.8 points

Some guy running from the cops hopped my back fence 45 minutes ago while we were out enjoying beer and rain. As soon as he hit the ground, Penny and Emma were on top of him. Climbed back up the fence and stood up there for a few minutes while dogs jumped after him and I held a light on him. He finally made it over to the neighbor's yard, made it to the front, and cops found him hiding behind my garbage cans. He had some extra holes in his legs. Good fucking dogs. Emma, the 16 year old, was showing no mercy.7 points

Thanks @texifornia. Great article. I guess despite what some dipshits here and elsewhere say, some people and several major news outlets continue to care about Art Briles being a piece of shit. @Jkwellborn do you care to comment about the part of the article that cites several victims of sexual assault in Mount Vernon, much less the 1 in 3 women in the United States who will be victims of sexual assault in their lives, care very deeply and are bothered by his presence there? Or are you still sticking to the fact that no one other than the coaches on his schedule give a shit?6 points

It’s because Texas got its ass whipped on both sides of the ball. 9 sacks allowed on offense, Greg Davis specials all day and starting every drive deep in own territory due to repeated stupidity on KR. Defense missed around 25 tackles and let Hurts get easy run after easy run and had no sacks in spite of OU having issues at Tackle. Was a 7 point game but Texas was flat out the weaker team physically all game6 points

I'm opening a restaurant called Shitty Tacos. What's clever about it is that we don't serve tacos at all. It's a front. We serve pancakes and fraud. Well, mostly fraud, but occasionally pancakes.5 points

Actually, that language doesn't assert a privilege. At all. That is, if a party submitted that language as an assertion of privilege in court, it would not be well-received, as it does not assert that ANY specific privilege applies to ANY specific request (and there are specific requests that have been made to which they could respond). Rather, it says, in simplified language, "if you don't follow the procedural rules that I alone decide apply and are binding, even though there is no authority making any such procedure binding, then I just won't respond, and I'm not waiving any privilege that might apply, and here, I'll list all of them, except the clergy privilege, but I might, because I said 'including,' which doesn't limit me."5 points

Texas is not there yet but this team fights when it could go to a complete dumpster fire like the end of Macks tenure and with Strong. We won this game last year and played like shit in 2019. We can still fuck OU up in the conference championship and then play for another major bowl. Stop being a bunch of bitches.5 points

I'm ashamed to admit that when several days pass with no board activity from the resident trumpkins, I start to hope that they've finally reached the point where they step back and do some introspection to figure out how they've managed to support and defend such a shit individual running a shit administration. And then zavala will do his random drive-by video propaganda post, or onboard will see the virgin hillary in his tortilla and come back to scream about bengazi or the clinton foundation, or boxofhammers will tell us how all the climate models are wrong, and a little more of my faith in humanity dies. Someday, I'll tell Lucy to just take her football and fuck off.... someday.5 points

I’ve actually been pretty shocked by how much a 7 point loss to OU broke our fan base. Winning the Sugar Bowl completely reset people’s expectations last year instead of just acknowledging we were way ahead of pace last year. We’ve lost by 7 points to two teams with loads more upperclassmen talent than we have. There are obviously some serious coaching issues, but the sky isn’t falling and there’s plenty of room for improvement in talent and coaching moving forward. We’re still on track to have a ton of success as a program for the foreseeable future.5 points
