  4. Yesterday my mom who is visiting made a comment about all trump voters getting cancelled and just because she voted for trump doesn't mean she deserves yadda yadda. I turned to her and said well you are kind of a piece of shit since you voted for trump. Anyone that defends that vote is a piece of shit in my book. Including my dear mother.

Good luck to you guys. I hope we leave this piece of shit conferece together, because we can't add an OOC tradition should we part conference allegiances... the both of us.

  8. Count me among the fortunate few. My parents voted republican their whole life until trump was on the ballot. They immediately mobilized against him. They’re deeply principled (but not religious) and took great exception to his ethical and moral shortcomings. For them character overrides policy. My mom, in particular, was very active supporting Beto for senate and doing what she could to get the democratic vote out. During the pandemic she stuffed mail and packets that could be handed out even though she wouldn’t leave home much for safety. They’ve taken covid seriously and are debating staying locked down longer to allow others in need to get vaccinated before them (which I’ve discouraged). I’m sorry every time I read how this environment is alienating families. I’ve never been more proud of mine - even if their decency might have skipped a generation.

  9. Just got back from my Trumpkin FIL's memorial service. Five hours of round trip driving to sit in a cowboy church with 100+ people where my wife & I were 2 of less than 10 wearing masks. None of her family members--including her mother--were wearing masks. Nothing like trying to support your grieving wife while she's getting the stink eye from yokels she doesn't know because they don't approve of us following safety protocols. The service was about what you'd expect for the poor Hill Country farmer crowd. The minister commented that it was probably a blessing that the FIL passed the day before the Capitol riots because "if he were able to, (FIL) would have been there showing the world just how strong of a patriot he was." Lots of 'amens' after that comment. They said a prayer for our country, of course. And for "what we all know is right to happen, God willing" in the coming days. More amens. And there was an ad hoc reciting of the pledge of allegiance by the congregation when someone took the microphone & said he had a strong feeling at that moment that God wanted us all to say the pledge to honor the FIL. We opted not to go back to the ranch house with the rest of the family & hightailed it back to Austin. We picked up some good Mexican food & are enjoying cold beers while watching football. Fuck Donald Trump.

  13. same. mom passed January 2019 and she was already pretty Trumpy and we'd had a number of 'conversations' by that point, i'd be lying if my feelings towards her weren't already being impacted. i'm grateful she didn't live long enough to be as far gone as others 😕 my dad lives in Trump country (NE TX) and has that stupid Trump as Rambo flag in his barn, mostly bc a friend gave it to him and he thinks it's funny. he votes for his $$ so isn't incensed by Biden (bc market is still running strong 🙄)...but on 1/6 i texted him to 'take that stupid flag down if you love your country like you claim bc Trump is a damn traitor!' he hasn't mentioned it since then, if he's still flying it next time i visit i'm giving him hell 😡 just bc they are old and parents doesn't give them the right or excuse to support insurrection and sedition. if the shitheads at the capitol and online deserve derision and judgement so do people in real life that support/encourage it. i'm not gonna be hypocritical or overly sentimental about it. they are people with morals and brains who just happened to have me as a child, not some magical fairy angels that deserve unquestioning loyalty.

  14. Those pussies at IT won’t confirm the airplane rumor but they allude to it, and yes, know the rumor has been out there since the flight. It’s crazy reading the post mortems from the $9.95ers and having it all confirm shit we discussed here and on Shaggy contemporaneously when the events were unfolding. Tom Herman is a despicable piece of shit. I hope he goes to Tennessee and gets a train run on his ass for 3 years before begging Urban Meyer to rehabilitate him with an analyst job in Jacksonville, only to get denied and winding up as a receivers coach at Weber State working for Drew Mehringer.

  15. I don’t give a fuck if he’s snuggling up each night in front of the tv with Mike Stoops and watching him breakdown film. Mike Stoops is a dog shit defensive coach who has been passed up by the game. He’s also a guy we got fired, mid season, from ou. He’s also a huge dick. He’s also a coke head. There isn’t a single redeeming thing about Mike Stoops as a coach. If Steve Sarkisian hires him against good counsel, I’ll assume he’s back on the sauce. He will have completely and immediately removed the benefit of the doubt.

  16. @HenryJames was able to sit in on the semi-bmd zoom yesterday and has some good notes he’ll hopefully pass on here. He’s going to have to get moderator permission to remove his 100 character limit per post in order to get the full write-up out, though. Some dumb shit asked about Ewers by name, of course. Everything looked pretty encouraging except for the part where he said Mike Stoops is one of the greatest defensive innovators he’s ever been around.

  17. No he didn’t. I’m not saying that is any reflection on Hutzler but let’s not try to rewrite history. Mitchell is a fucking terrible football player. He’s a little less terrible than he used to be but he is anything but “respectable”.

  23. Just in case it hasn't been posted on this thread, insurrectionist Barbie Jenna Ryan's full legal name is Jennifer Leigh Ryan. Jennifer Leigh Ryan photographed herself drinking Coronas on a private jet to Washington, invaded the capitol, is now facing the consequences of her actions, and now feels persecuted. And Jennifer Leigh Ryan wants to be my real estate salesman! Of course, Jennifer Leigh Ryan is a hypocrite of the highest order. Last year, she was claiming that rioters need to be prosecuted. 25. My great great grandparents stole a total of 80 acres from native Americans... they then passed the land down generation after generation till my grandfather sold it when i was a kid... my mother and father were both raised in bfe oklahoma. (Dad was a osu grad thank god) All my uncles however are sooner goobers.... I spent my summers in Ok working harvest and dealing with okies on a reg. Point being, my ancestry (yes i hate my sooner souless blood), my parents and grandparents all had me watching Oklahoma football growing up....guess what, I made a free will choice to choose wisely and not support that school.... Editors note: i was born in Texas and raised in Texas, (my parents were smart enough to escape) I disavowed my heritage long ago. I still bear the sins of my ancestors ..

  26. Sark's Bama offense didn't often substitute the first team receivers out until the game was well out of hand, and he rarely went 10 or 00 personnel (4 or 5 WRs); he'd actually go two TEs or two RBs more often than 10 personnel. With at most three WRs on the field most of the time, and with only four or maybe five guys playing those three spots, arguably the roster allocation of WRs should be smaller than in the past. For various reasons, Herman struggled to fill his classes with elite WRs. He'd land one here or there like Whittington or Bru, but for the most part, he'd miss on guys to Bama, Ohio State, OU, LSU, A&M, and even fucking TCU, and to make up for that, he'd throw numbers at the position later in the cycle (including taking two fucking JAGs as transfers). So now we have too many WRs who won't be difference making contributors anytime soon or ever, and a handful of the ones who make a difference could leave after next year (Moore, Whittington, Smith). So the fix is to take fewer WRs in 2022, right? I actually don't think so. I think you take as many studs as possible (4-5) in 2022 to finally fix this position going forward since the real issue isn't raw numbers but a lack of elite talent that'll likely be around for more than one year, and then you can start taking 2-3 elite guys per class once the position group is stabilized.

  27. You know who else knows more about football than the posters on this board? Charlie Strong and Tom Herman. They both shot themselves right in the dick with their coordinator hires too.

  28. That’s revisionist history. If we’d have ever had a shot with Pryor or Dunning, we’d have taken them and jacked off about it. They wound up sucking, but they were guys everyone wanted. I don’t see an issue with the hire. I know that pits me against golfclap’s worldview, but I can live with that. Same situation with Drayton.
