Yes, it's a lot. The plan is ultimately to endow every position at Texas for every athletic program, following logic and a model similar to the Longhorn Foundation, which is the collegiate gold standard and rivaled by damned near none. Few schools have all of the advantages Texas has, including powerful, interested, and ridiculously wealthy boosters in spades (not just one or two), as well as large, aflluent and interested middle and lower layers of an alumni and fanbase too. This is weaponizing things through competitive advantages in spite of the AD, which should have been helping with this years ago, and has instead done nothing but whine. This will wind up being a $300million endowment down the line if some of this stuff comes together and the initial target is half of that. Football players will eventually be making legitimate money at Texas even as 3rd stringers. I told one of my buddies at Bama about this yesterday and asked him about their end. He said "For one, we're not anywhere near any of that in planning. That's you guys catching Oregon. For two, no, and you know it. We cannot post $100million+ to endow all of the positions and you know that." Expect numerous former athletes to participate, including the likes of Ford and Durant. I'm sure guys like VY are a given.37 points

Stolen from IT - but @RGBIII and @immamac early moves are going to turn Texas back into a juggernaut.36 points
-
BTW, for anyone whining about IT/On3, they've been instrumental in helping many pieces move around and align, including on the former athlete end. Like we've said, there's more to come, but everything is moving in the right direction and in big ways.34 points

Oh baby it’s rolling in! This plus a lower number of TEs enrolled probably means we expand to DL as well Bobby Burton is one of the best things that has ever happened to the university. He has been entirely instrumental in all of this and the future success of Ut I’m absolutely framing that quote and putting it on my wall “One looks like Jesus if he was a HS science teacher, one regrettably looks like Tom Herman. They love paying players, they are Longhorn Legends”30 points

IT saying that initial allocations would be 80% football 20% other sports. Players make on average $100k. If they portal or are processed out of the program, they lose the money. A new incentive not to play shitty, guys. I'll take it.30 points

This is fucking amazing. Aside from the obvious benefits to Texas football - all I can think about are the kids who come from less than nothing who now have the opportunity to help siblings/parents. Incredible.24 points

I am certainly not going to stan for Nahlin, but he's played a big part in a lot of this stuff too. Thanks. I am considering changing my handle to "Cobb" and putting the Dicaprio inception jpg in as the avatar. They think they're getting someone bigger and there are several, including the already mentioned Billingsley, that they're watching or pursuing. Yeah, watch as more of what is unfolding comes to fruition and then think back on all of the folks as recently as yesterday dismissing the concept of the bag game eventually becoming a corner case game. LSU's bag slush is $250k per year and Bama's is double that. These programs are not going to amp their dark market efforts by 10x, 20x, or 50x and coaches across the board are going to have excuses for playing the recruiting and transfer game above board. Uncles won't, but everybody else will. There's still a black market for bootlegging in this country and liquor is legal. There will always be a dark market in recruiting, but the size and scope of the alternative are going to completely fucking dwarf it.23 points

Reading this tweet was a bit of a rollercoaster.21 points

The money isn't all paid up front, they have to continue to be on the team. If they get processed out then they lose the gravy train. You are searching for reasons to worry, stop doing that. On the day that Texas boosters just announced they're doing something awesome you are trying to find a reason to bitch about them. Stop sucking.19 points

Why do you think that’s the case with Durant? He donated 3 million to the basketball program a few years ago. And has helped outfit every sport with KD styled gear19 points

Pull yourselves together you fucking pussies. You’re embarrassing yourselves, and more importantly all of us by association. Get it together. Whining About our own recruits trolling us? The fuck. if Harris chose bama there wouldn’t be a sliver of this level of melt. So Harris goes to aTm. So does Stewart. They’ll Transfer in a year. All that matters is a our coaching changes, the purge, and what we can grab via portal and close to the class. It’s going to be an underwhelming class. Let’s see how it finishes in key positions. Fuck.18 points

This is what I'll never understand about aggy. Why do they have to constantly pretend that they are something that they are not? Why can't they just accept that they have their own thing going and be proud of who they are? This is what separates aggy from any other program with a superior rival. You saw last week every poke fan thinking we'd lose and acknowledging the history. We know where we fit in that rivalry and we don't pretend to be anything different. We at least are superior in baseball and probably even in basketball overall. We love winning the Bedlam Bell (trophy covering all sports). Aggy is far more inferior overall to UT in pretty much every sport yet think they are equals or superior. I'm fine with you guys calling us Okie Lite, but I lose my shit when anyone says Okie aggy or makes any other comparison. We don't have any sort of delusions of grandeur, and we don't jizz in mason jars. It's not the same, not even fucking close.18 points

I know this is a 2022 thread and some have maybe seen it but I thought it served some importance for these WRs in 2022 2023 4star DeSoto WR Johntay Cook "The trip to A&M was live. I had never been to a game at Kyle Field and it was loud as hell," said Cook. "But here is the difference between Texas and Texas A&M. Right now Texas has the scheme but not the players, A&M has the players but not the scheme. I mean A&M is running like the Wishbone offense, it's cool and all but if Jimbo opened it up that would be serious. Its that fucking simple. It ain’t Rocket science. Man has been running the same offense for years and you think he’s going to open it up cause your coming….smh sorry I had to get that off my chest due to the Stewart news18 points

This. The fucking Death Star has begun its construction but everyone is mad because a couple of Ewoks decided to fuck off to Alderaan. If you don’t speak nerd….things are good irrespective of what a couple 17 year olds do today16 points

Of course you know when aggy hears about this, John Sharp will “borrow” $10,000,001 from the Hurricane Harvey account to start their Pyle Field Putz fund.16 points

I realized before school even was out that we were going to have to address it because otherwise he was going to hear about it the next day (first year in middle school). Turns out that he and his buddy already heard about it through friends and asked us. It sucked hard. He has pretty severe anxiety to begin with. Just laid out the facts of the incident. He had heard about other incidents and he asked about them, including Sandy Hook, which caused me to choke up and him to cry, realizing the full scale of how fucked up our world is, and what hit home was that it could happen at our daughter's elementary school that he just 'graduated' from. We explained how rare it is statistically and all of the things that our schools do to keep them safe, and that everything in life has some risk involved in it. We talked about bullying, and people who might have issues but don't have any support to work through those issues. I told him that kids would be talking today and to not believe any of the rumors because most likely they would all be lies. He asked if he could talk to the school counselor to help him worry less (specifically as it relates to this) and we encouraged him to do that today. It's so stupid that it's easy to compartmentalize these things and digest them when they're in Florida or California or Colorado but when they are in your back yard it has a way of crystalizing just how real and devastating they are. These things don't really seem to happen in Oakland County and so you just have a way of thinking they never will. I was not going to say anything to my 3rd grader until we got an email from the Principal this morning - the typical "Our hearts are with Oxford, kids are going to be talking about it" etc. She's much more mature than he is and I was much more vague, but she was like "Ok". I asked if she had any questions and she said no and that was pretty much that. I told her the same thing about rumors spreading. I'm so depressed. I know that here I am likely preaching to the choir, because there are smart people here with common sense, but I am so fucking sick of the rhetoric on this topic. So fucking sick of politics and partisan takes. Kids killing and shooting other kids in school should not happen. It seems everyone can agree on that. But anything beyond that and everyone starts screaming about their rights and the Constitution and puts corks in their fucking ears and isn't even willing to come to the table to discuss any kind of solutions, no matter how big or small they are. This country is fucked because time and again, Americans are willing to put self over community. I have no specific answers but it's got to start there, and that's why it's a non starter.16 points

Gotta love Oklahoma…Okla-fucking-homa… being pissy about hiring/recruiting shenanigans. The poster child for cheating going back the 70’s (as far back as I go). Hell the state celebrates ignoring rules as part of its heritage. So forgive me if my give-a-damn is busted. Eat a bag of dicks. This is going to be a fun trip back to OKC in the spring.15 points

One thing that I hope comes with all of this.. if kids are about to have cash dropped on them the moment they step on campus for off-season training. Please, please, please! Set up some financial literacy classes, and workshops. Please.15 points

It's likely to be monthly payouts as a practical means of managing the process, carrying float for further gains, and keeping players from doing idiotic shit. Remember when you guys are thinking about this stuff that all of this work is being done to set floors (now and evermore) so that recruits and coaches can know what the future, should they come to Texas, looks like. None of this can be used as an enticement, yada yada, but in the future, matter of fact history is not ignorable and will be front and center for recruits and transfers to understand. That's a big point of all of this. That considered, remember that this doesn't include any corporate NIL work for players that is very real and will only get bigger for the bigger names, which is why corporate density in Austin and Texas is a bigger deal, and a competitive advantage, than people understand right now. The 3rd string DE will still pretty much just get his expected floor, but the starting QB or point guard probably get far above the floor if they're worth a shit and have a symmetrical face. It also doesn't include crowdfunding efforts from the fanbase, memorabilia set-ups and signings, etc. Plonsky and crew are on the cusp of being able to pay female athletes more than any other college program in the country, and more than most semi-pro female sports leagues as well. She's not that stupid. Bickering over "equity" will come a lot later.15 points

My man won 11 games at fucking Baylor two years after taking over in the middle of one of the biggest off the field PR disaster / scandals / dumpster fires, ever. He also took over a dogshit Temple team and led them to back to back 10 win seasons. He had Temple beating Penn State, 27-10. Temple!!! With regard to him not beating a ranked team, he only played three of them in his final year at Baylor. A CFP OU team 2x and #5 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Apparently, Georgia actually cared about that Sugar Bowl. Rhule had to play a 3rd string QB against OU in the Big 12 Championship game and took them to overtime. I think I would take Matt Rhule over every college football coach outside of Saban and Meyer. And honestly, considering he's only 47 years old I might take him over both of them, too. For comparison, Matt Campbell has never won 10 games -- not at Toledo or ISU. I don't think Campbell is anywhere near the same league as Rhule.14 points

Fact: if not for the existence of two separate videos showing the world a virtually 360 degree view of the murder as it occurred, everyone who or profits or earns an income from our disgusting law enforcement industry would already be telling lie, after lie, after lie, to keep this murderer on the job. This is how police have operated since forever. if you doubt this, go read the press release the the police issued after George Floyd’s murder. The murdering cops would have received a pat on the back for a job well done if not for a 17 year old girl with iPhone in hand and the presence of mind to press the record button. Bernard14 points

Correct. Correct. A few other things to think about: 1) The smoking hot females on campuses nationally are already getting paid through NIL more aggressively than most of the male athletes. There's a hot softball player at Texas, for example, who is making damned good money already. There's a gymnast for LSU who's made more than the average NFL salary. We may not agree with or like why such things are what they are, but many of the females already are "winning". 2) There are numerous UT alumni initiatives that are picking up speed after the AD insouciance stirred up a hornet's nest in early July. People at every level are tired of losing and have developed the mantra of "if they're going to label us as the evil empire anyway, might as well have the fucking empire and its riches then" in regard to building something big. There's another massive story dropping very soon and a bunch of us are on that. There are multiple other billionaire-backed plays too. 3) The layer cake we've been preaching, along with the modeling after the Longhorn Foundation premise of endowing all positions, is now actively where this is all heading. Go look at the original thinking on Burnt Ends on the NIL board here, and then look at what we put out there on the 2022 recruiting thread in July regarding all of this, and you guys will see that the efforts on the IP and creativity of getting things actually moving are now flowering. Big money folks, the middle layer of donors, the everyman and fan, they will all drive the competitive advantages inherent to UT and can coalesce beautifully if God or Shiva or whomever will allow us to have nice things. 4) Now think about Austin and the state of Texas' corporate density and what will happen for many standouts on that end as NIL takes root. There are like 30 car dealerships in and around Austin. There are like 4 near College Station and like 8 in Birmingham, as one small example.13 points
