Aw that's just mean. We usually like ISU and OkSU fans around here. And probably KSU fans if they existed and had internet connections.

KSU fans have the internet, and it's fucking terrible.  I get along great with them in real life, but on Twitter they're absolutely obnoxious.  I mean, it's a rivalry and everything, but it's morphed from this very respectful rivalry born out of the realization that these are (on paper) about as similar as colleges in different states get, but it's gotten a lot chippier over the last decade.

This does not have the effect you think it does.

I guess it rid you of Mensa.

It seems like you pretty much fire the coach any time we beat you.  I think Chuck Strong's last straw was getting blanked in Ames, right?

Were you the guy jumping up and down in the little box on the sideline? I hated that guy.

I was way up in the nosebleeds in the SW corner to start. Our group went nuts after our first TD and we started getting stink eye from the UT fans. Given as we’d been to Baylor and Aggy the previous years and been escorted (or had it threatened) by law enforcement at both for not being reserved, refined Southern gentlemen, we bolted for the visitors section. But the visitor section wasn’t full and there were UT fans behind us. They were cool though.

I still can't believe mensa thought the 59vyard fg for the tie was his best option.

So you’re saying the Hail Mary was our best chance? The kick had the distance and was pretty damn close.

I’d like to see those percentages of victory given both options.

57*, it was within Dicker's range, and there were only 3 seconds on the clock. I think it was the best option. He fucked up on a lot of stuff but that wasn't it.

I guess it comes down to the odds of Dicker making that kick.  I had zero confidence.  The hail mary had a very slightly greater than zero chance of working and would have resulted in a win and not just overtime.  Not really a huge deal either way I guess.

There's no reason we shouldn't beat Iowa by a handy margin.  Their QB is going to be playing in front of a hostile crowd for the first time in his career, and we're legitimately better than them at every single position group other than OL and special teams, and our OL isn't far behind them at this point.

But we'll probably lose because Campbell can't beat Ferentz.

The good news is that you will beat Iowa this year. The bad news is that will be Campbell's only win in the rivalry as he will be moving up after the year you're about to experience. Spend the next few months remembering all the shitty years. And then enjoy the fuck out of a good one.

You were probably one of the guys that was certain he was coming to UT, right?

For 4 years I've been hearing this.  For the first several of them, I agreed.  At this point, I think he's our Snyder or something like it.  Unless an NFL GM offer comes along.

He fucked up when he had the ball, and the lead, with three minutes to play, and decided not to run the ball, but called 3 passing plays instead.  The result was a three and out, saving lots of time on the clock for ISU, which they used to drive the field, take the lead, and ultimately, the win.  *furk*

I'm skeptical.  The next good movie I watch based off of a video game will be the first.**

** Bob Haskins and John Leguizamo in the 1993 masterpiece Super Mario Bros. clearly being the exception.

I heard an interview with someone close to  Bob Hoskins once, and they asked him about this film. He said, “I’m a plumber or something. I think i save a girl from turtles.”

CSB alert:

There was an ESPN article with a picture of me looking suicidal while standing behind some ecstatic ISU fan at the 2010 game.

That 2010 ISU game is my favorite clusterfuck of an ISU loss for several reasons.

First, it cemented Greg Davis getting the heave-ho at the end of the season. Mack could try as he might to keep his boy, but that fucker was going after this game.

Second, back to the Davis issue, with time running out, on fourth and long from inside our own 20, and maybe inside our own 10 or 5, with UT down in the score, we ran a play-action pass. Hahahahahaahaha. I fucking exploded in laughter as the play unfolded. Our whole table did. The other UT fans nearby at the BW3 were a bit dumbfounded, but they didn't seem to know football from a hole in their ass.

And finally, I wrote what may be my favorite thread title ever, and I've had some doozies, with "Punt On First Down" and the typical screeching thread about everything wrong with Mack Brown's regime at Texas. RIP Shaggy. It was cathartic. That fucking offense was pathetic, and watching the Garrett Gilbert implosion in damned near real-time within the fanbase on and offline was surreal.

The 2015 Halloween game in which Iowa State buttfucked us in public to the tune of 24-0 was easily the worst of the four losses and erased any doubts I had about whether or not Charlie Strong had a prayer of making it at Texas. By then I don't if I had any doubts by then, but if there was any left after the ND game to open that season, the ISU joke finished it.

That 2015 game was an odd one.

That ended up being Rhoads' last year as well, which was cemented with an epic Farmageddon choke (and Farmageddon is full of epic Iowa State chokes) even by the standards of that rivalry.  That was when Mangino was our OC, and Rhoads had recently canned him.  The team seemed to play better instantly, and there was a belief that we could mostly win out after that game (OK State at home, KSU and WVU on the road) and go to a bowl.

We blew 2 double digit 4th quarter leads in those last 3 games.  I was furious at the time, but we don't get Campbell if Rhoads pulls that out, and we're still sitting here doing backflips over 6 win seasons.

What if.....Ferentz retires and they hire Campbell. My head would explode.

There's been a lot of outrageous talk about liberal vs conservative Civil War, but I think you might actually see an Iowan Civil War if that happened.
