Because he posted a pic from his visit last weekend like every recruit in America does on a visit?

Did aggy roll out the red carpet?  Did they knock it out of the park?  Does aggyland feel like home?  Was he impressed with the aggy network?  If the answer is yes to any of the above then consider him a lock to the sips.

Right. This is what Herman did to their 2019 class momentum. We win big this year and it'll be even worse.

I know they've fairly consistently won ~8 games while in the SECSECSEC, but they finally drew Georgia across divisions this year. They've got 4 almost certain losses before you consider teams like Auburn and MSU. They're going maybe 6-6, probably 7-5. If we have a similar season to what we did last season we should be able to get some more separation.

Last year they finally beat a conference team above them in the standings. They get 4 shots at what should be highly ranked teams this time, they might be able to pull one out of their ass. But 3 of those are away, right?  And bama at home?  Tough sledding, great opportunity for some nice close good losses if they can replace their 4000 yard tailback and all their defensive playmakers.

I'd say 9-3 is their ceiling. They're not going to beat Clemson and Georgia on the road, and they of course won't beat Bama.

LSU on the road is going to be a really one to win, but Jimbo is a much better coach than Oeaux. LSU will be favored and should win, but you never know with Oeaux.

@LSU is a huge problem for aggy.  LSU is a very different team at home, where they thumped UGa and Miami last season.  On the road they lost to aggy and Floriday, struggled badly against Auburn and were completely dominated by Bama.

Agreed on all points, and I guarantee it'll be a night game. ESPN will sell it as the rematch to the 7 OT game and put it in prime time. But you never know with Oeaux.

Did you watch the 7 OT game? LSU's defense looked awful. But their offense is even worse.

I did.  One weakness of the disguised pressure scheme is you run out of different looks when the play count gets really high.  It happened to Orlando against OK St and WVU.

Brian Perroni: 4-star Alabama commit enjoyed weekend at A&M, will be back

Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher has won a number of recruiting battles with Alabama in the last two classes. Most of them have involved players in the state of Texas, but Fisher is showing he is not afraid to go to the Crimson Tide home turf either. The Aggies recently offered four-star Muscle Shoals, Ala., linebacker Jackson Bratton, who has been committed to the in-state team since March of last year. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defender wasted no time in visiting as he spent last weekend in College Station. "I was down there Friday night," Bratton said. "I got there then and then stayed all Saturday and Sunday and then flew back Sunday night. I had scheduled it right after they offered. They told me about the Super Bowl deal and I wanted to spend a weekend down there."

Bratton came in pretty much knowing what to expect as far as the schedule, but the facilities surprised him a bit. "I just toured all the facilities and had a bunch of meetings with the coaches," he said. "That was my first time there, so I didn't know what to expect. It was awesome. Everything was really nice and it was all first-class. I liked it a lot." Though Bratton has been committed to Alabama for close to a year, he is still considering Texas A&M. "I'm definitely giving them a look," he said of the Aggies. "I liked it a lot." In fact, Bratton will be back on an official visit. He also plans to see a few other SEC schools as well. "I will be (taking an official to A&M)," he said. "The others I'm still looking at are probably them, Auburn, Tennessee and Ole Miss. I'll probably officially visit all those places."

As for when his final choice will come regarding where he plans to sign, the nation's No. 4 inside linebacker still does not know. "I'm not sure when I'll know [the final decision]," Bratton said. "I'm just trying to check everybody out right now and just make sure I know where I feel like I'm at home at."

Jeff Tarpley: A&M's spending generates big-time results in last two classes

Texas A&M's ability to print money has given it a leg up over the other athletic programs in the state of Texas when when it comes to hiring coaches and building facilities that enable the school to win championships. Off of the football field, it comes in the form of being able to attract and sign the best players not just in the state of Texas but also to travel to other regions, obtain film, and have sufficient personnel in place to evaluate prospects.

According to the Dallas Morning News, A&M spent about $1.7 million on recruiting in the 2017-18 fiscal year which was Jimbo Fisher's first recruiting class at the school. Some of the money actually should have benefited Kevin Sumlin who was let go in November 2017 before Fisher was hired and closed with the 17th rated class in the country per the 247 Sports Composite rankings.

However, the funds also would have been used to jump start the 2019 recruiting class which began to add four star caliber prospects around the 2018 signing day as the Aggies eventually wound up with a top-five class nationally. The 2017-18 expenses were over $400,000 higher than in 2016-17 when the Aggies actually finished with a higher rated class per the 247 Sports Composite under Sumlin as they finished 13th nationally.

Nonetheless, the numbers are somewhat staggering when compared to those in the remainder of the state. The Aggies' spending was more than all of the other state schools within the state of Texas combined (Texas Tech, Texas State, UTEP, North Texas, UTSA, Houston, and Texas Tech) excluding Texas (numbers for other Big 12 and Southeastern Conference programs were not available). The Horns doubled their recruiting budget with the hire of Tom Herman, spending about $850,000 in 2016-17 and over $1.8 million in 2017-18. Their efforts paid off in a similar manner as they finished with a top-five ranked class for 2017-18.

In particular, the Aggies have helped themselves with personnel hires beyond the coaching staff such as the addition of associate athletic director for football personnel Austin Thomas and director of recruiting Leah Knight, so that everything is coordinated from top to bottom regardless of where the prospect is from. However, the most visible aspect of the increase from the Aggies' spending has been the signing of out of state players from across the southeastern United States. Fisher coached at places like LSU, Auburn, and Florida State prior to his arrival at A&M and he's hired staff that either followed him from Florida State or came from other parts of the southeast or the East Coast. As a result, the Aggies have inked 18 players from out of state in the past two recruiting classes including prospects such as quarterback James Foster and guard Tank Jenkins from Alabama, defensive lineman Derick Hunter from Florida, and linebacker Andre White Jr. from Pennsylvania.

"All of Alabama's kids don't come from Alabama," Fisher said. "All of Clemson's kids don't come from South Carolina. We want to get all the Texas guys we can, but we have to be able to brand [ourselves] nationally and be able to go out and find those guys.

Lol.

So they don’t spend more than Texas, and somehow this OOS recruiting shows status for aggy but desperation for Texas (last point not made by tarp but is all over his board)

When A&M lands OOS recruits, it's because they're winning OOS recruitments against the big-boy programs and Jimbo is a national recruiter.

When we land OOS recruits, it's because A&M took all of the in-state guys and forced us to look OOS for replacements.

It's all about spinning the narrative.

Goebbels would be impressed with the way aggy reporters spin things.

$“Commit out of nowhere”$

They make it sound like it's such a positive, but to anyone not an aggy it sounds like they are likely just buying recruits. I am sure if a guy like Mickens showed up to UT and committed on the spot every ag in Brazos County would be screaming cheating even louder than they already do when we get guys after spending months and months building relationships.

Kind of hard to imagine they can screech any louder. They've constructed a Carrington bagman narrative completely out of thin air to support their delusions.

To be fair, aggy has a lot of practice conjuring narratives out of thin air.  They can do it in their sheep by now.

"Sources close to Broughton say Jimbo Fisher and Co. knocked it out of the park."

Those sources are literally Jimbo Fisher and Terry Price. They were standing right next to Broughton when the questions about his visit were asked.

Hamm Lite doing Hamm Lite things  ::

Despite schedule, A&M has strong odds to win 2019 national title

There are some high expectations for Texas A&M in Year 2 under Jimbo Fisher.

The Aggies lost a lot of talent to the NFL Draft and graduation but return a lot as well. Quarterback Kellen Mond is now an upperclassman with two years of experience. He has some very talented wide receivers in the likes of Kendrick Rogers, Quartney Davis and Jhamon Ausbon. There are also four offensive linemen returning with quite a bit of starting experience.

On the defensive side of the ball, there are a few more question marks. However, tackle Justin Madubuike and safeties Leon O'Neal Jr. and Keldrick Carper return to form a strong nucleus.

The Aggies have made appearances in a number of way-too-early preseason top-10 lists, as many expect the team to be a force in 2019. However, A&M also plays perhaps the toughest schedule in the country.

The Aggies have games against each of the consensus top-3 teams in the country. Only one of those - vs. Alabama - is at Kyle Field. Texas A&M must hit the road for contests at Clemson, the reigning national champions, and Georgia. In addition, LSU is also seen as a top-10 team. The Aggies will have to travel to Baton Rouge for the regular-season finale against the Tigers.

Because of the schedule, A&M is one of the few teams in the country that could withstand a loss - or even possibly two - and still have a legitimate shot at the College Football Playoff. One loss would mean A&M beat two of the top three teams in the country, plus another top-1o team.

With the schedule the Aggies have and the expectations for the team taking a step up in 2019, Texas A&M is pretty high on the updated odds from SuperBookUSA to win the national title in 2019.

Not surprisingly, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence returning as only a sophomore, Clemson leads the way with 2-1 odds to repeat as champion. Alabama is not far behind at 5-2 while Georgia and Ohio State both come in at 8-1. The Aggies are currently listed with 40-1 odds to win the national title this coming season. That puts the team at 13th-best overall.

While many believe, because of the schedule and the talent on campus, that 2020 could be the year for A&M to make some serious noise under Fisher for the first time, there are still some pretty high expectations nationally for the Aggies this coming year.

SPORTSBOOKUSA ODDS TO WIN THE NATIONAL TITLE

Clemson 2-1
Alabama 5-2
Georgia 8-1
Ohio State 8-1
