Remember how Sark was supposedly unable to win games where he was down at the half?

Remember how Sark was supposedly at fault for us not being able to score in the 3rd quarter?

You mean like the Florida game or the Ohio State game or the Ohio State game 1 or the SEC championship or Georgia 1?

It's been a really long time but I vaguely recall some of them.

Look, I'm in here praising Sark for beating the shit out of and out coaching our top 10 ranked rival and he clearly deserves it. I'm very happy about it. It's a huge move in the right direction.

That said, just because a consistently abusive boyfriend/spouse apologizes and does some real good doesn't mean he/she should be forgiven all his/her history of abuse, errors and trespass.

Don't worry. All the idiots will say this wasn't a big game W for Sark if OU ends up losing 4.

Not a single person other than you has made that claim.

beating a top 10 team? BIG GAME.

PLAYING OU? BIG GAME.

BEATING A TOP 10 OU TEAM? HUGE WIN.

Oh shiitake mushrooms man. Is what BYU is thinking. This coaching carousel is gonna be something regardless.

since I have zero influence power or any control:

1. Sitake to UCLA.
2. UCLA also hires a freshly fired Miami Dolphins HC to be OC

3. Oregon State goes for Jason Eck (this is such a good hire to me)

4. cig says no to Penn State and they decide to roll with Kiffin who will energize the offense and make Addidas shoes look cool.
5. Florida fucks around too long and somehow winds up with Kyle Shanahan.
6. Oklahoma State nabs the GJ Kinne. Maybe? 🤔 or maybe they have someone else on their wishlist.
probably only #1 happens but it doesn’t matter. The ride gonna be a lot of fun. If I were Oregon state or Oklahoma state I’d go for an NFL coordinator type coach who has some ties to the area. But that’s just me.

Sark ain’t going nowhere but if he does it’s back to the NFL to replicate or try to be better than Shanahan.

If Kyle Shanahan ends up at UF instead of at Texas or Dallas, I will lose my fucking MIND.

Oh for God's sake. Going into the game he was like 1-100 in his career trailing at half. Now he's 2-100 or whatever after overcoming a daunting 3 point lead. That it's year 5 when you finally get to trot this out doesn't make the point you think it does. Absolutely enjoy it for what it is but don't

I think this was the best 3rd quarter in the Sark era.  Complete domination on both sides of the ball.

Despite the above, this. I was stunned when we came out with a 7 minute TD drive. We held the ball the entire third quarter (13+ minutes). The defense had one three in out sandwiched between two long offensive drives. OU gets the ball back with like 30 seconds left and throws a pick in early Q4 after 3-4 plays. The third quarter broke their will. I have never seen a Sark team simply bitch slap an opponent in the third quarter after trailing at half. It was awesome.

Playing defense first was huge in this game. Think about how self destructve the offense was in the first quarter and where OU starts their first possession if we take the ball first. They almost certainly go up 7-0 if they start from midfield with how they were moving on that first drive and we're feeling like we're behing the 8 ball from the beginning. Who knows how it goes from there. Instead we get the whole field to play defense and a chance to regroup in the redzone, and we get to make a statement with the ball coming out of half.

I’m with you.  And on top that this was our worst offensive performance against Oklahoma since Sark has been there. Playing well against Oklahoma isn’t a tendency breaker it’s business as usual under Sark.  Great win versus OU but I’ll be back on the hype train when we see it against Georgia.

I don't remember if it was this thread or another thread but a poster was taking the position Sark can't win big games and in support of that position claimed that neither @ A&M with the SEC Championship game on the line for the winner or either of the 2 playoff wins last year were "big games".  That is the kind of 'fan' I was referring to in my post that would claim yesterday isn't a big game W.

#20 Aggy =/= #5/6 OU.

Aggy was a big game, OU was a HUGE game.

You must be mistaking this for the Arch thread.  He’s still getting clowned over there

Which is fucking unbelievable after our win. He did a fine job, overall. He's improving, which is what we want, but it's not good for some.

I swear, man. Some people just like to be miserable. Like, beyond Satya, which if he's doing would be par for the course.

Which is fucking dumb as fuck, considering it's our rival. I don't give one iota if they were win less coming into this game, we beat their asses, it goes on the record.

no need to talk shit about Holly, she is by far the best sideline reporter in the business.

Two things... well, okay, three things.

1. True ststement there, 49-0.

2. Young Holly was a pretty cute little gal. She's what now? Right about 60, I suppose. I'm fairly certain most of us looked a whole better at 30 than at 60.

3. I'm guessing nunna you haters ever spent two minutes - much less a champagne brunch weekend - with a chubby athletic blonde who could suck both her own big toes at the same time while being roundly rogered. Just sayin'...

OK, so first, you made up those numbers. Because if you used actual numbers, the numbers don't say what you want them to say. So you had to make shit up to win a stupid internet argument or whatever.

Second, it feels like you and too many others have this mindset that head football coaches have fuckin' Magical Fairy Godmother powers where they just wave a wand and, bippity-boppity-boo, all your team's problems are solved. And... this is not just a Texas or a Surly thing; look at all the hate Ryan Day gets from tOSU fans, and he's the most successful head coach in CFB currently.

Now, if you're reading that and offended that I compared you to a drooling, inbred tOSU fan, good. You should be.

Now on the OU Week thread I gave equal hate to the Polyannas who yell "IN SARK I TURST". I spend less time typing back to them, though, because they're an even dumber group of mouth-breathing dipshits than the "WHY DOESN'T SARK WAVE HIS MAGIC WAND AND MAKE THINGS BETTER" group you appear to belong to.

Of course we're playing differently in the 3rd quarter than we used to. Of course we've struggled on offense. Almost our entire offense had never played significant snaps as starters. They didn't, because we sent nearly that same entire offense to the NFL last Spring. So now that we have new personnel, it's going to take game-time snaps against REAL competition before they get good. And now that we have new personnel, the 3rd quarter behavior is different, because the personnel are different, and the way the offense performs reflects the group we're putting on the field.

The joy this season will come from seeing them improve from quarter to quarter in each game. The offense that played in the 2nd half against Florida was better than the one that played in the 1st half; the offense that played the 1st half against OU was better than the one that played the 2nd half against Florida. And the second half offense against OU... was getting really good.

OU is legitimately pretty meh (horrible on offense). Let's see continued progress from the entire offense against Kentucky and Miss State. Do what we need to in those games and I'll be more of a believer. Miss State, at least, has a competent offense and it's a road game. However, the final four games will tell all - three competent opponents and a jihad game from Arky with nothing else to lose this season.

Wow, you mean Sark isn't actually 2-100 in his career when trailing at half!? Nothing gets past you! This does make me worry about how mych hyperbole you've simply taken at face value over the course of your life but that's not really my problem.

Stopped reading after the first paragraph. You told on yourself there. I'm good on the rest. You win.
