Soooo I’m in the market for another EDC.
Looking at the Kimber .380 or Micro 9.

Not trying to be an ass with the question, but did you just forget your gun in the truck or do you regularly leave a firearm in your vehicle unsecured? I'd start with a good truck safe if you are leaving it in the vehicle.

I live outside the city. There are only 59 houses in our subdivision. If I’m working from home I might not see a car pass all day.
I moved my truck toward the end of the driveway so some of the neighborhood kids could play basketball and simply forgot to lock it.

My neighbor 3 houses down had his taken too. Funny thing is they left his wallet and watch. I had an IPad and a laptop in mine.

Maybe you should ask some of those neighborhood kids if they know anything about it?

Just ordered one of these from GaG (has a $100 rebate)…..

Did you order the 3” or the longer one? Curious about how it compares to the SP101.

Ordered the 4.25” version. ($148 less than the 3”)
It weighs only 2.5 ounces more than the 5 round SP snubby, and the muzzle blast should be less.
It’s not for carry.

Gunsmith Recommendation?  I need to have a gunsmith do a little work on my Sig/Hammerli Trailside .22 LR pistol.

I live in The Woodlands, but anyone in the greater Houston area would work.  A gunsmith in the Austin Metroplex would be fine also.

Thanks.

Ditto. Need some simple work done on my son’s old 12 ga in Austin.

Call AJ at Blackjack in cedar park.

Or Troy at a red Wolf in Burnet

What needs to be done?

Might try the guys at Athena in Houston.

It is reckless to leave a handgun in a car. Please don't do that.

Anyone have a go to for hard to find parts?

I have a stainless pre-Taurus Rossi M971 357 mag that needs a new crane.

I’ve ordered a couple off the internet but they don’t fit.

Suggestions appreciated

Late to this, but @Handcruser sent me to Blackjack and I was very happy with their work on my ... Tec-9.

Hammerli MIGHT just be the sexiest, best pistol ever made.   This and the P210.

Meaning the Trailside?  Had a bad rep for durability, but it's a bullseye/target pistol, not a truck gun.

Along the same line.

Current production is said to be less than great, but the old ones are lovely.

The older Sigs were/are pieces of art.  The beforementioned P210 is just a amazing pistol all around.  Again, not truck guns.  Not meant to be.

Took delivery of my new PSA Mixtape yesterday. Have already ordered the Maxim Defense buttstock and will be SBRing it after the new year. Might as well save $200. Also picked up the Silencerco Scythe Ti. I made sure to do this before the new year and gladly paid the $200 tax stamp fee. I walked into the gun shop and plopped the credit card down on 12/9 and picked it up on 12/16. Paperwork was actually submitted on 12/12. First titanium can and I'm impressed. Makes a big difference with weight on the front of the gun. Looking forward to unleashing it on pigs, coons, and other vermin. 20251219_144656.jpg

Oh HELL yes, brother. Glad you also saw the light and got what you needed before the madness of the new year.

I only have titanium on the 22LR but it might as well be nonexistent with the weight difference. When it makes sense, likely this time next year earliest, I’ll be grabbing a few more for the big boys.

Coincidentally, I ended up buying the .357 SP101 with the 3” barrel for my self for Christmas, and I really like it.

Definitely built like a tank, makes the King Cobra I was considering almost seem delicate. I strongly considered a .327 mag, but the cost and PITA factor of finding .32cal practice rounds convinced me to stay with a .38/.357

Edited by Bozo_Casanova

I stocked up on the .327 and .32 S&W Long prior to the pandemic for my two Rugers …haven’t used any of it yet, but probably will just gift it all to my grandkids.

eForms is live for $0 Form 1's and Form 4's for suppressors, AOW's, SBR's, and SBS's. I can confirm it works. Multiple times. If you have any NFA items registered to you as an individual, now is the time to get a trust set up and move them over.

I have got to get myself motivated and do the forms to build out some SBRs. I have several I've been waiting to convert from pistols but I can't get myself in gear to dive into the details of how to properly fill out the forms. Mental block / avoidance is real in my case.

Question- nobody in my family wants anything to do with my guns except for me and I don’t loan out NFA items. Is there any reason why I would want to set up a trust?

Was going through the safe and found this. Totally forgot I ever bought it. Tomcat in .32 ACP

Time has passed this caliber and form factor behind. And a threaded barrel is like tits on a duck. But got is it sexy.

@Handcruser

Talk me into or out of a Sig M400. Need more pew-pew for shenanigans and ranch fuckery. I have an AR new that is set up for longer shots, varmint work, smaller deer, etc. This is the opposite. Truck gun. HD. Range work with the kids. I'd mount a red dot and a light and maybe a sub later down the line, but probably not. In the base-model price range of a grand, am I sniffing up the right tree?

And I do know the rail guard is shit.

M400 is probably fine. Wouldn’t be what I purchase but in the $1000 AR world it’s probably fine. It’s just a vanilla AR from Sig. I don’t particularly care for a lot of their products.

What I would be looking for (to fit your description) is an AR pistol in 300BO with a 9-10.5 inch barrel. This is a truck gun so I wouldn’t go high dollar . where are you located?

The P365 Flux needs to be deleted from the catalog and everyone associated with it should go to prison.

Want to stick with the 5.56 for ammo compatibility purposes. In that price range, any other suggestions? Looked at the FN-15 and IWI Zion as well. Seekins is a little over, but heard good things with the NX15

I do like the FN line better.

Man - there are billions of choices in that range. FN is great. Bcm if you can step up a few hundred or so. Stag is also quality but less known. Or do an aero build. That would be simple.

How hard is it to file a form 1 directly? I have a Silencer Shop trust and have used them for all my form 4. They charge $50 to file the form 1 through their system, which includes submitting the fingerprints and doing a QC check on the submission.

Easy to file directly. I have done it several times in the past, but I would have to go get prints made each time. Total pain in the ass. Now, prints are submitted electronically. I used Printscan (link below) to get an EFT file of my prints. Piece of cake to do, and now I have that file to submit every time I do a form 1. I had my prints scanned on Saturday and had the EFT file available about an hour later. Filed my Form 1 the same day. Now waiting on approval.

I initially was going to do it through Silencershop and bought the $50 service. I uploaded the info on Jan 1 and I am still waiting on them to get me the documents to e-sign. The hell with that. I had everything done and submitted to the ATF shortly after I had my EFT prints file. Gonna see if Silencershop will refund my $50. Lol.

Nationalguntrusts.com has a good guide on filing Form 1s.

Cabo summed it up. I got a can this summer for my 7 rem mag. They had a kiosk from silencer shop. I took it home about 2 weeks later after barrel work and govt forms.

903 tactical in Diana tx if you want shit fast. Owner is ex military and knows guns. His online presence is FB trash but local and state police buy their gear from him. I’ve seen his hats on Lone Star Law in the past.

Silencer Shop kiosks are the way to go. @@markstanco did he do the barrel work? I’ve got a .22 I want threaded. Need to take it somewhere. Haven’t decided if I’m gonna use Longview Class 3 (if he’s still open, I haven’t been there in forever) or try to find someone else.
