Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins

Featured Replies

Cincy's D is ass but he threw for 8.5 YPA and put 21 points on the board. I thought all of his throws that I saw looked great, frankly. He missed one down the sideline and both picks were reasonable balls and decisions. He didn't take a sack all day. He showed some pretty good mobility/athleticism. He looked like an NFL player.

That said - the question for him is what does it look like when he's getting hit and pass-pro is breaking down. We already knew he's great with time to throw. It's his toughness and pocket-presence that he will need to display if he wants to stick around and/or compete for a starting job.

The 50/50 down the sideline to Waddle was a red light throw. First, Waddle is smaller than most NFL corners. Second, he didn't give a fuck. Don't throw that ball. Lastly, coach whatever the fuck your name is. Quinn Ewers isn't the QB sneak guy. What are you doing there? This isn't Josh Allen. Let your RB pick that up. That's like putting your kicker in at RB.

Waddle was just out there to cash a game check, 0 effort and not interested.

Fair. I'm not going to argue that one one way or another. It was at least an arm-punt.

Also, if you are going to have a QB like Ewers, you have to commit to protecting him both in roster management and playcalling. We should be chipping ends and calling heavier protection on blitz downs. Miami did a lot of the right things with that today the team just didn't give a fuck. I get that a fully healthy Cincy with Burrow back at the helm is a tough cover but they flat out gave up. Cincy was doing whatever they wanted on the ground and through the air.

I'm not arguing at all. Your assessment was spot on. Just voicing my observations. It was funny to see Miami running our plays though on several occasions.

McDaniel auditioning for OC?  :)

Yeah, you saw that on the first couple throws that went his way. He don't give a fuck. He is not being evaluated. He knows his job is secure. This is why I hate bringing guys in at the end of the season when a team is out of contention. The vets are just out there dogging it. I mean, over in the Cleveland game Josh Allen only had to throw for 130 yards and no TDs. Cleveland let Cook run for over 7 yards a pop and over 100 yards in the first half. Just not giving a fuck. Only one out there trying was Garrett because of the sack record. Bills scored 23 points without Allen throwing OR running for a TD. Bills had 3 TDs on the ground. Just rolling out the red carpet. That shit makes it hard to watch the NFL.

Yeah, I noticed that while tuning into the game. Looked like Sark was calling plays.

Every throw looks like he is throwing off his back foot.

He’s always done that.

QE 1st half highlights today

Think that first slant should have been thrown?  On one hand it looks like he can fit it in.  On the other hand, the LB doesn't react at all to the clear or underneath routes.

The Waddle pass was awful.  Other than that, it looked okay, but I'd like to see a Nash every snap breakdown.

The guy in the video I posted thought the slant would have been the correct read. Quinn just didn't have the confidence to throw it.

He looks better than his draft position. Good enough to start? Not yet, but maybe not never.

His talent justifies taking him somewhere in the 3rd to 5th rounds. His injury history says "DO NOT DRAFT" in big red letters. Miami split the difference, and I think they did it because they knew they would have to pay more to take him UDFA and that Ewers would probably opt to go somewhere else.

Basically, it was a smart draft by Miami that cost them very little in terms of money or stock. If he stays healthy then they're getting a bargain on a solid QB2.

For context, here are the QBRs of the other rookie starters yesterday:

Sanders: 26.3

Shough: 31.9

Dart: 4.7

Ward: 34.5 (122 passer rating which shows that QBR isn't the end all be all)

Before anyone says "but the Bengals defense is terrible (it is)" - they held Lamar Jackson to like a 16.9 QBR a few weeks ago. It's still and NFL defense. The only NFL pass defense that is a complete joke is the Cowboys.

Ewers did better than I expected. But then again, I expected him to take a few sacks with a fumble and possibly throw a pick six.

I dont really try to base this on a talent midget scale, but each to their own. I was hoping for a better game. Te 10he issue is th-12 for 109 yards in the 1st half, which was good. Bengals took a quick look and adjusted. The 2nd half was 10-18 for 151, 2 ints. Passer rating went from ~102 to ~44.  That was always a question with Quinn. What happens when the script runs out? Can he limit turnovers? Hopefully, he learns from this game and looks better next week. Gets another chance vs a bad defense (Tampa Bay)

Didn't watch but his stat line is pretty good if you take out the INTs. One looked unlucky, the other bad

Quick browse of Dolphins forum and overall they seem optimistic about Ewers. One thing they brought up was his poise and knowledge of the playbook, and gave him a little grace because he had less than a week with the 1st team.

Game was decent. Quinn hits the TE and he fumbles. Comes back and throws an on target pass on a dig, db breaks on it, receiver tries to basket catch it which allows the db to reach around from behind him and get his hands on it. Deflected up in the air and intercepted. Cincy has all their weapons back, so they are scoring at will. Rookie QB. Down a few scores. Trying to make plays. That's all it was. He was fine when it wasn't obvious passing situations. It's easy to play defense when you are 3 scores up and know he has to throw.

This pussy ass thread still going?

It’ll fall off the first page after he retires from football. In 2027 or 20 years from now if he pulls a Philip Rivers.

But, I’m not Rex?   Anyway, Merry Christmas Derka. Hope you do not spend it here letting a coach with 12 games under his belt grind your gears.

This is my first handle. I’m not reigniting a beef, I don’t have beef with anyone in this world. I just recall you being critical of Sam and Quinn and was surprised to see you posting something positive or neutral about Quinn.

So many think I am Rex. I guess because of Ticket thread. I should just stop posting.

That was some of the worst goal line playcalling I've seen in awhile. Even worse than drunk Sark.

So you signed up on September 11, 2025 with your first handle yet you recall Derka's crusades against Sam and Quinn? Make that math work for me, Rex.

Quinn outplaying Baker with vastly inferior weapons is the cherry on top of a great year of shitting on OU.
