Cam should have blocked, Quinn shouldn’t have fumbled. This isn’t that hard.
“ he played a clean game until” is a pretty common refrain this season.

2 things are not possible at the same time if one of them is a negative against Quinn.

Quinn throws well on the move, well too fucking bad he doesn’t move well.

Exactly.

Those last two plays on the goal line is why we don't move the pocket with Ewers. His mobility is fucking terrible. There were obviously other issues on those plays but Ewers cannot move.

When he moves laterally it often looks like he's going to trip over is own feet.

While Quinn wasn't horrible, I have no idea how he got that #1 recruit overall ranking back in high school. Watching this guy for 3 years and none of his tools jump out. Thank you for bringing us back to relevance though Quinn, don't win that Alabama game without you

We used to be bad so we should be thankful to be almost good enough. Loser mentality

Well, we beat aggie who played ND really close, we also beat Michigan who beat OSU and they are both playing for the NC so that means Sark and Quinn are amazing. It's a sign.

Cool. Chris Simms had a bunch of records at one point too. The goal is to win.

His QB rating is better than VY, he must be better than VY.

Quinn throws well on the move. The fact that you are blaming that Cam Williams play on the quarterback shows how you think. On a play like that you cannot let tht happen. Tackle the motherfucker if you have to, but to get walked  by and barely get a hand on him?

How do you NOT fumble in the middle of your throwing motion?

He literally said after the game he saw him coming but thought he could get it off in time instead of pulling it down.  You make more excuses for him than he does.  I hope however you’re kin to him you stick around next year too..   Then you can tell us how even though the offense is better, how it would be better this year with Quinn because everything around Manning is better….

who would guess a QB in 2024 would have more stats than QBs from 1950-2002!!!! Shocking

Think about what your dumb ass just said. Pull it down and do what? It's 4th down. Pull it down and run for it? That's a long 10 yard run with all eyes on him. He has to throw there.

Any QB with athletic ability that acknowledges he saw the guy coming but did nothing to make him miss or extend the play is dogshit

In what regard? Chris Simms was a play away from a national championship game at one point.

The gap between Colt and Quinn is massive.

A sack in that situation is better than a turnover, especially a turnover for a TD. Just completely dumb not to protect

I wish he had decided to do that here. Does his NFL career win us this years CFP?
And also, what exactly is going on? What’s your point?

You are a coach. You have a pocket passer. it's 4th down and everyone knows you have to throw it. One of your tackles is a turnstile. Do something to help him. Chip him. Keep someone in to help. What you cannot do is ask your worst pass blocker to 1v1. He got by him so fast that Q never had a chance. He was on him before Helm go to the EZ on a 7 yard route. That's what you aren't seeing. There are plenty of QBs in the league that can't run. Playcallers know this and help them out in situations like that. Quinn has proven he can do it if you buy him some time.  I'm off to bed.

Then eat the football. Literally just don’t fumble. That’s the only requirement.

Now do all of Quinn’s other TOs this season.

Hate to break it to you but that’s what sark wants. More athleticism sure but we will never consistently run the QB in sark’s offense.

Let's start with Quinn's miss on the 3rd and 5 to start the 4th. This flipped the game in my eyes. We had all the momentum at that point. Quinn sails a pretty easy completion and the rest is history. Ohio State gets it back and drains over half the quarter and scores. If he completes that and we keep moving, we have a chance to really start to take control of this game.

Completely disagree.

Arch, KJ, Dia are all mobile QBs. Trey has some mobility and isn’t a fucking pussy statue like Quinn.

it’s not even about being dual threat. It’s about being a functional runner. Quinn isn’t even that except on rare occasion

Tip your hat to Quinn for a good Texas career and wish him well next year. He played well enough tonight that we couldve won. He didnt cost us the game, but he didnt win us the game either. And that is pretty much Quinn's career in a nutshell (sans Alabama 2023).

But you have to have a guy who can extend plays and get away from pressure. Quinn doesn't do this at all. In fact, he does the opposite. He's a statue that self sacks himself even on plays with little to no pressure. You don't need a VY or Vick at all. But you are at a big disadvantage if your QB is as immobile as Quinn

I am very curious to see if he goes pro.  I was thinking he would go even if a 3-4 round as he is injury prone.  I think if he doesn't go pro, it means he is dropping like a rock and needs to maximize his $$$.

Frankly if he goes to another college team, we will get our answer if it is him or Sark and this thread will continue.

You can disagree with me but sark has said it - pro style pocket passer thinks designed runs are too risky. He’s done it with arch some so maybe he will come around but he’s been adamant about what he wants in a qb and it’s not designed runs or the zone read.

Toss sweep on the 1 against the other fastest defense in CFB is the problem. If Arch was in there and we ran that I wouldn't blame Arch for that shit either. We get too cute instead of just playing football.

So arch is the problem

I said more athleticism that’s what that means.  But we are  not joining the ranks of the running qb offenses under sark and he will always pick the top pocket passer recruit over the top dual threat.

Yeah, you don't need a guy that's crazy athletic but at least somebody that can move the pocket with his legs/scramble when needed.

Beck at Georgia could do it, McCarthy could do it at Michigan, and either Leonard or Howard can do it this year. I don't care how good of a passer somebody is coming out of HS. If they're a statue with limited mobility, I don't want them.

I’ll add one last post before this thread is hopefully mercy locked.

I am surprised at the amount of vitriol from several folks on this thread (and pretty consistently at that). Were there inconsistencies in Quinn’s game? Yeah definitely. Did he play well enough tonight for us to win? Also yes. Will Arch be a better QB? Yeah probably but that’s not a guarantee.

I guess for me what it comes down to is I won’t denigrate a dude who came here after we wandered the desert for over a decade (and went 5-7 in Sark’s first year). A dude who came here and won huge games (you are being intellectually dishonest if you can’t recognize what a turning point 2023 Bama was for this program), who by all accounts loved this school, and his teammates. A dude who took us to back to back CFP Semis.

I will always be grateful to Quinn for helping return our program to where we belong amongst the CFB elites. Nothing can take away what Quinn did here and how he helped this program return to the national stage after so many wayward years.

Thanks for everything #3

I think some people go over the top but I'll never understand these arguments.

"Did he play well enough tonight for us to win" is exactly the problem. He was just OK with a legit defense. The issue is we were paying him NIL to be a gamechanger and not just a decent QB.

That doesn't justify some of the hate but the fact some are fine with Ewers "being good enough" is exactly the problem. It also perfectly sums up who he is as a QB.

Quinn didn't take us back to the CFP. The defense did. He did everything he could to try and stop that from happening, see aggy game. The defense saved that game.

Quinn lost to every quality opponent he faced this year. And by quality, I mean CFP quality, not regular season good. We all knew you can get away with inconsistent play against junk SEC teams or Clemson/Arizona St. Won't happen once you face someone of quality. Ohio St made him pay for how inconsistent he was. All 1st half, he missed passes. He missed a huge pass to start the 4th qtr on 3rd down that completely changed the landscape of the game.
