Obviously this year was a disaster, the interior in general has fluctuated from meh to total shit show, and the recruiting takes post-pancake factory seem extremely iffy absent serious development like Goosby

This hearkens back to my comment that he's a good coach but needs a better GM telling him who to target and how many.

Other than OL, RB and WR, it's a good class. Surely, the coaches have plans to fill those holes, right?

RB isn't too bad. I think Cooper is the real deal. I would have rather gotten Ezavier Crowell, as I think he's more ready for the college game, I'm not unhappy. It's better than Choice recruiting shit like Rickey Stewart, Jr and Gibson, who havw both already departed. Who knows about Clark and Simon?

WR recruiting is flat out shit. Just say it. It's beyond turd-level. Bishop is a freak, but outside of him I don't see a quality starter, unless either turn out to be Malachi Toney, which is highly unlikely.

OL is horribad. Turntine is going to take at the very minimum three years to develop and add weight, Robertson I like, but Scherer does nothing for me. Had we flipped Scherer from Stanford when Tim Drevno was there, then I would feel much better about his abilities.

I think RB has to be considered alongside the chatter that we will be pursuing a big time contributor there in the portal. Cooper is a good get and it doesn't make a lot of sense to get 2 right now if we're going to the portal.

Honestly can’t believe this kid signed with no drama. After his Oregon commitment I had zero expectation of him sticking with Texas.

There were multiple out of state guys whose recruitments I thought would potentially be dramatic and they just weren't at all. Wesley, Atkinson, James Johnson, Derrek Cooper. Cooper was the only one we ever heard even a little bit of chatter on.

Feels like the top guys stay pretty locked in, and its the middle of the class that gets lured away because that's who we aren't willing to get into bidding wars for.

Also, they won’t be available next year or ideally until two years from now. As things stand, development will have to happen, which is another reason we want good coaches.

develop who exactly? We signed 3 guys, one who is depth who probably won’t develop and one who just needs to add weight. That is not nearly enough to “develop”.

OL (numbers and overall quality) is unacceptably poor.

DL (numbers, not quality) is lackluster now pending the loss of Wells and without a true interior tech. We’ll need to take at least one multi-year guy in the portal like we did with Watson last year; not just one and dones.

DB has numbers, and I expect Davis will be a baller, but I’m not sure the overall quality is great in that group either.

However, with the increased scholarship limits for 2025-2026, taking a HS class of 25 still allows for significant portal grabs without huge roster churn. Hopefully, Sark learned from last year that he needs to bring more players in. I can’t imagine it won’t happen given it’s the final shot with Arch.

We had one and let lane scoop him up.

Billy Glasscock - General Manager - Football Support Staff - Ole Miss Athletics - Hotty Toddy https://share.google/8mEQEqJgISwNwKz4D

I don't want to exaggerate the testimonial on it, but I was talking to one of the GA's that worked under him at Texas and he said good things.  That said, I'm more intrigued by schools hiring NFL guys that have more of a scouting background and are used to the role or have been a direct report one.

None of which describes Brandon Harris, of course.  Paying that dude $600K a year when Glasscock makes $425K is nuts.

Hasn't really been the best End of November/ Earl December?

And yet we're still 9-3 with an outside shot at the playoffs, a top 10 recruiting class, on what most consider a bad/ down year.

Say what you want but we've raised the bar.

Don't think he's worth a 2 for 1 and that's how Auburn got him.

Yeah, they took his brother who was committed to South Alabama, I don't think that's justifiable for us. Its just unfortunate that our two flips were at the same position, turned a class strength into a weakness.

Don't really see why it wouldn't be justifiable. We literally took triplets last year and the roster limit is 105 so we definitely have the spots. To me the issue is more do they both expect to get paid.

IOL: Coleman, Cruz, Kibble, Cojoe, Chatman, Christian, Umeozulu — majority are not stars, but most college programs manage to develop lower rated players, and it was determined that these players could play at Texas. It’s somebody’s job to make sure they’re capable, or free them up to go elsewhere.

With the redshirts in this last class and what you can get in the portal at WR any given year one baller at WR in this years class was really all that was needed. It’s a fine WR haul.

From Wiltfong

Update 3:40 CT: On3’s Pete Nakos has confirmed that Texas has made a big NIL offer to Chris Henry. The intel still favors the Ducks right now with the Buckeyes also still in the picture.

Texas isn’t even mentioned here.

I watched some ESPN coverage earlier and they were talking to Lamar Brown. He was like I have to talk to my agent etc. it’s actually kind of wild that this is like a free agency draft period now instead of traditional recruiting for the top guys.

they should have a hs football combine and shit lol

well that last update in the article was at 2:45.

Wilfong reported that at 3:40, so maybe thats why

Ya I’m thinking Texas just threw in a bid at the last minute and is just making others pay more.

How the hell do we lose wells. We needed to throw a couple hundred thousand more at him and make him sign the paper. Damn. Yes his brother I know, you take him. He knows the deal….maybe he didn’t.

It's hard to trapdoor someone's brother after a year.
