As you stated she is a fucking captain and there was no way she wasn’t going to make the All-Star game, but fuck the other players for actually voting on merit instead of just voting CC first because apparently she is carrying them on her back and they wouldn’t be getting a paycheck if not for her.

They’d be in boarding group f on Southwest without her.  Ungrateful leeches.

you’re in denial. how many times do they have to talk shit about her and/or physically assault her before you face reality?

Michelle Tafoya

"Ninth-best guard in the league? Don’t try to give me the excuses of, ‘Well, she’s been struggling lately,’ or, ‘She missed some games with injury.’ Come on, this is insanity and I think it’s an activist vote by the women of the WNBA, who simply cannot stand her success. It’s so dumb and it’s so childish," she said.

Going to skip over anything Tafoya has to say. She’s an absolute nut job of a human being.

Hope Clark gets healthy soon though. She’s clearly not anywhere near 100 percent right now. Glad the Fever were able to win against Minny without her. I think by playoff time the Fever will be hell on wheels of Clark is fully healthy and hasn’t had some goon try to end her season early.

If you don't like a nutjob being accurately called one then put me on ignore because I am NOT going to let it slide when a complete moron tries to interject themselves into something for other reasons that have zero to do with her ability to play basketball. There are plenty of decent human beings that can be used for quotes about Clark besides Tafoya.

Yes and that should not prevent her from being voted highly by her peers as she's still one of the top, I don't know...6 in the league even with her poor play?  And you'd never have seen them do this stars in the NBA.

also, it’s an all star game, and CC is arguably the most exciting player and inarguably the biggest draw. it would be hilarious if the players got their way and CC was left out, and the wnba all star game lost a rating battle to a bowling tournament.

Exactly.

Because the Fans and media votes...if it were up to the players she'd be left at home.

She's not even the most egregious one lol. Kelsey Plum 6th in fan votes 6th in media votes but 16th in the players vote. Where's the outrage?

Clearly the players have grudges and it's going to hurt the league more than help. That's my main point.

Or maybe the players are the ones who see each other play each night and aren't just voting on name recognition. Maybe CC has been hurt a lot of the year and hasn't been consistently performing up to her standard and there are some other players who are producing at a little better clip right now.

No no no, don't do that.  You know players will have issues with other players and will vote as such. Just like players that DON'T deserve votes will still get them because they're all friends and have known each other.

Same reason some rookies who deserve to be voted, don't, because they have to "earn their dues".

It's all silly. Just vote the best players.  The fans fuck up their voting, and the players do too. Usually the media is only one that gets it pretty right IMO.

And also this.  To pretend players are the ones who "are actually voting correctly" is silly.

Same type of logic that leads to the "Did you even play the game...i'm better because I did" mentality by pundits.

The Athletic's Sam Amick and Josh Robbins revealed that players voted Haliburton as the most overrated player in the NBA, with 14.4 percent of the 90 votes going his way.

where’s the outrage? nobody cares about kelsey plum. nobody knows what team she plays for, what position she plays, or what any of her stats are. nobody is tuning in for kelsey plum.

everyone- especially the other players- knows that CC is one of the handful of best players in the league, that she’s the most exciting player in the league, and that she’s the biggest draw, specifically because of those reasons. and for these reasons, she is hated by her peers, hence why they’ll find any excuse to knock her down, either physically or metaphorically. this is just the latest example of this group of nasty, thuggish, entitled women who owe basically everything they have to either men or to CC being all too eager to bite the hand that feeds them. it’s nauseating.

Imagine not knowing one of the lead guards on a team that won a championship back to back recently and almost 3peated and is still one of the better guards in the league today and then think people should give a shit about your opinion on the matter. I guess you Clark stans assume everyone is as ignorant in regards to the WNBA as most of you are. So far the only argument in this discourse has been they should have voted her first, well because she is CC. She has missed half the season and believe it or not there are players that have been better than her this season.

imagine not realizing that nobody tunes in to the wnba for kelsey plum, or that the majority of people who tune in or even talk about the wnba do so because of caitlin clark; imagine getting a league handed to you by men and then constantly bitching that men need to do more for you; imagine  playing a sport that loses money every single year because that’s how little people care about it, only to finally become relevant because of one player, only for your entire league to turn on her, to leave her off the olympic team, talk shit about her, root against her, physically assault her, try and keep her out of your all star game, etc. imagine being that fucking stupid.

also, it’s seriously troubling that you don’t realize that the fact that i don’t know which team kelsey plum plays for makes me the exact type of person who’s opinion you and the wnba should care about. your league is trying to convince people like me to invest my time and money into it, and as long as the rest of the league continues to openly hate the one player that i want to watch, im not watching.

I get what you are saying, but I actually think you are making the opposite point by saying it.

WNBA was a flailing league. If it wasn't outright dying, it sure wasn't growing with any alacrity that would anyone would confuse with health. If you cop to being a WNBA fan pre-CC, that is cool, but it's rare. And it stands to reason that the reason the league was failing (cue Bill Burr for the 11th time) is that it had no broad support from any sufficiently large demographic.

So the fact that the (massive) growth drivers are new fans who don't really know a lot of the players who were drowning in a sinking league isn't the flex you think it is. That said, there are a few names that casual fans shold have heard of and I think Kelsie Plum is one of them. You should have a passing awareness that she is a person and a component of the league just as I know there is a fat rapper named LIzzo and Gorilla the red, even though I have never and will never listen to woman rap. Just by virtue of being alive.

i/we do. still couldn’t tell you what team she plays for or what position she plays. i know her for two things: throwing a t shirt very very far, and for going on a podcast and saying that wnba players deserved a bigger cut of the league’s nonexistent revenue. don’t know anything about her game, her team, her skill set, etc.

Right, but she has a “name” and is a somebody. Even if she was one of the taller midgets pre-CC.

Yes. Clark is the reason I watch.  If she’s not playing I’m not watching. Based on the ratings, I’m not alone.

Fucking laughable. My guess is if you stop 10 people randomly on the street and ask them how Kelsey Plum makes a living, 1 might be able to tell you she's plays in the wnba. If you ask details like what team she plays for and what position, you might have to ask 25+ before someone knows. Unless you're at a  Subaru owners convention, Plum is as relevant nationally as someone like Sergino Dest. Solid player but moves zero needles.

And Plum is likely one of the ten most known wnba players.   She craves attention.

Well, lucky for you two, Clark's team plays Plum's team tomorrow on NBA TV tomorrow evening.  If you want to watch basketball tomorrow, even if Clark is unlikely to play, then you could educate yourselves on Kelsey Plum.  Hint, Plum held the record for mo st points in the NCAAW game which Clark ending up breaking.  Enjoy learning!
