A former gynecologist accused in lawsuits of sexually abusing more than 200 patients over the course of decades has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on federal charges related to four women.

Several said Hadden would often seem as if he was concluding exams, only to turn around just after a nurse had left the room, saying he needed to check something else.

It was in these moments, the former patients said, that he would insert his tongue or ungloved fingers into their vaginas, or fondle their breasts for several minutes under the guise of performing an exam.

I know we shoudn't victim shame but the guy stuck his tongue in their vaginas?   And they didn't think that was, uh, weird?

Prosecutors alleged in the 2020 indictment that Hadden also assaulted "dozens of female patients, including multiple minors" between 1993 and 2012.

Maybe something having to do with this? But let's keep making jokes about rape.

I'm not making jokes.   And if the child was a minor, there most certainly should have been a nurse or parent in the room.

Considering the Larry Nassar scandal, it's not hard for me to think some parents can be overly trusting with authority figures like doctors. And the 2nd part wasn't directed at you.

Really curious how and why this became a federal case.

You're the expert on 'removal' here, but I would think at some point, on some level, he was not only seeing/molesting patients from other states...but also inducing them to make the interstate trip to begin with through some means of marketing/licensing/outreach.  my initial guess is some kinda referral arrangement where doctors and former patients in other states were incentivized to send him new referrals.  You so much as sent a thank you fruit basket to a referring physician in another state so they unknowingly send you special cases to sexually assault...'remainder' is no longer an option, no ?

Statistically speaking, that kind of geographic scope and duration of crime spree with 200 patients (probably more, just some didn't come forward or are deceased)...whatever facility he ends up in at the federal level...somebody there is related to/friends of the family of 1 of the victims.  Having an inmate's tongue cut out is difficult to hire out.  Difficult.  But not impossible.

The point is why the fuck is this federal?  Is there any reason NY cops and courts couldn't investigate and prosecute this?

There's no inherent federal interest in rapey gynos and some nebulous connection to interstate commerce doesn't create one.

Didn't read any of it, but what if he had an office in NY and NJ? Would it matter?

Well yes, courts take more of a wide berth to the commerce clause than do prosecutors.  i'm guessing there was an ostensible financial network at play here, perhaps even literal trafficking.  Sends the victims off to another yet-to-be-identified OT/PT specialist who can help them further with their lady medical issues.

Or it's the most catastrophic misstep in prosecutorial history, we'll see...

There's one paragraph that refers to it.  4 victims traveled to NYC.  A nurse and medical assistant testify to witnessing it.  How was he able to get away with it for so long?  Were his subordinates afraid?

During his trial, in addition to the four victims who traveled to New York City for appointments from as far away as Nevada, jurors heard from another five women who said they were abused by Hadden, as well as a nurse and former medical assistant who said they witnessed more assaults.

Years ago when I sold at rental the older guys would come in limping around. These fucking floors, I got a prostate infection. Gotta get a finger wave. Ha you’re fucking old.

A few months later I had the same. “Son there ain’t no lady urologists in Memphis. You want one with small hands. Also if you’re in the middle of the treatment and you notice both hands on your shoulders, you picked the wrong doc!”

Seriously, my wife was abused by a doc at nine years old with her deranged mother watching. It still upsets her badly when she sees these stories. She would rip Larry nasser apart with her bare hands.
