Why the hate? Best of luck to Kinne and Texas State.

If aggy had half a brain they would've hired this guy and his staff instead of some obese douchebag from Duke.

Kinne doesn't sign enough Mexicans to Helobious' liking, so he views his entire ethos with disdain.

It’s not hate, it’s a fact. He’s nothing without that UIW core.

Not really worried about Kinne running off anywhere any time soon.  Unless he pulls a rabbit out of his hat and figures out a way to win 10 games this year, he's in SMTX for a couple more years.  He has the rep of a Leach style offensive mind, but overall, I don't see that in our offense, other than flashes here and there.  The plan and playcalling vs Baylor 2023 was glorious in it's execution, but that hasn't been the standard since.  Leach wanted his players to find the green and get there - be/attack where the defense isn't.  I know I'm always right as the armchair QB/OC who doesn't have to call the plays before he sees them, but I do find myself continually seeing giant gaps in the defense pre-snap and us just ignoring them.  He's nowhere near ready for a P4 gig.

It appears that, after all these years, Texas is finally heading to the PAC-12.

Texas State, that is.

So Washington State, Oregon State...

added Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Utah State.

now Texas State... i am seeing a pattern.

Leading to the first branded NCAA conference? Why not? The Pac-Whatever sucks anyway

Isn’t that a rebranded MWC?

Very much so, although it would be nice to have Air Force and UNLV.  Why the MWC and PAC2 didn't just merge is mind bottling.  Even now, adding TXST to that mix for 14 would be better than a Pac8 and whatever the MWC is going to scrap together separately.

Keff is the closest thing to a $9.95er as we have.  Solid dude, good writer - was with the Statesman until they jettisoned everyone.  He put out his early depth chart prediction this week. Starts at 12:00 in the youtube video.

I watched this game on Thursday night in San Marcos last year (I think?).

I didn’t realize the direct implications for Texas at that time, but it was a fun game and I thought Texas State should have won.

This year, man, ASU is loaded and underrated. If TState gives them a real game, I’m going to assume the Big 12 is absolutely wide open.

Just found this thread.  Coach Bailiff put together a T Association mixer at Schoebel's last Sunday, and the plan is to travel well for this one.  He had the guys from he and my dad's teams pretty lathered up about the new conference affiliation and prospects for this year.  As for us being D-1 for 40 years, I got there in July 97 and played 1-AA, which is a pretty big departure from "D-1".  The move to the WAC is what I'd use as an identifier where that's concerned.  I don't really care, but it'd be like stolen valor to tell someone I played D-1 ball, and the reality is we were in the Southland riding a bus to Thibodaux to play the Battle for the Paddle.  In any event, Eat em' Up and I hope to see y'all out there this year.

The fact that you either don't know or acknowledge that 1-AA is, in fact, D1, is some self hating nonsense.  Coach Chisum will forever be my all time favorite Bobcat for drilling that into our head on Day 1.  You showed up in SMTX right after Mike Miller took Jeff Foster and the boys to the D1 Men's National Basketball Tournament. While you were there, Bushong took his team to 2 D1 Baseball Tournaments, Chisum and Jarvis took their teams to the D1 Volleyball and Softball tournaments, and Charles Austin won the D1 High Jump Championship. There are 365 schools in D1, and football is the only sport that has a subdivision.

Spoke to a guy I tailgate with last week about all the PAC news and he tells me he's friends w/ one of ASU's AC.  They spoke recently and the AC told him that the reason our production went to shit in the 4Q was they figured out who our playcaller was (we have like 3 guys calling plays in) and what the plays were.  336yds and 4 TD through 3Q...62yds and 3 TO in the 4th.

BTW - held Skattebo to his lowest YPC of the year & his 3rd lowest total yds on the year.  Unreal that we stopped their #1 weapon and still lost.  We legit should have had 10 or 11 wins last year - amazing what we pissed away.

I think our defense could actually do the heavy lifting this year, but until we figure out the QB position, I remain less than optimistic about pulling off any upsets, especially on the road at a P4.  But, my tickets are purchased, just in case.

This is a football thread.  For years Villanova has been a great basketball school with a 1-AA football team.  That isn't anything new conceptually.  About me:  I'm a third generation Bobcat, and pretty proud of that fact.  My Mom was the first African American appointed to the SWT Development Foundation Board, and is a Distinguished Alumnus.  My Dad is a 2005 Hall of Honor inductee in Football and Track.  My first job out of school was working for Dave Bailiff.  I happen to know Coach Chisum, and if she left you feeling all warm an fuzzy that's wonderful champ.  Continue to say whatever makes you feel good.

Wild how Villanova was able to win a D1 NCAA Basketball championship, eh?  Maybe because D1 applies to an entire athletic department, and 1AA only applies to the football team...as part of D1.

The D1 recordholders for total yards per game in a season, career rushing attempts, rushing yards per game over a career, career rushing yards, most rushing yards in a game, most rushing yards by a QB over a career and in a game, most rushing TD in a year and most games w/ 100+ yds rushing are all held by 1AA/FCS players, because they are part of D1.

Right back atcha.  The fact is that the Southwest Texas athletic department moved from D2 to D1 in 1984, including football.

You can say all of that and then the rest of the world will continue to see anything outside of FBS in college football as D2 or worse. FCS isn’t D2? No one gives a fuck. There are a few pedants here and some guys like you that went to one of those schools who care and then everyone else doesn’t give a shit and it’s muddying the thread.

The Pirate’s play sheet was on a notecard.  It was up to the WRs to run their routes, given the pressure shown.

I’m gonna bow out.  As much as I wanted to play Division 1 football, I didn’t.  This is the first time I’ve had an attempt made to convince me otherwise 😂
