I’m glad the Allen deal didn’t happen. $18M rental. Who knows what an extension might look like. He’s good but also 31 y.o. Spend some of that $$$ on a Nico extension and draft a tier 2 guy.

Keenan Allen is always hurt, would have been a waste of 18m. Even when he's healthy there is always some lingering issues or excuse why he's not 100%. I would rather see them go after a good player in free agency with some of that money. Get one of the Safeties or CBs still out there and draft a WR early.

Did you watch the NFL last year? Compare Keenan Allen’s numbers to Nico; this would have been a hell of a one-year rental. He missed some time with injury in 2022; other than that he’s caught at least 95 passes every year since 2016. It didn’t work out, but a dude like this on a one-year deal would be huge for CJ’s development. This is real football, not your fucking fantasy team….

He probably would have held out if they weren’t  going to extend him.  I doubt he goes anywhere with just one year left.

As opposed to staying in LA with one year left? Post a list of all the 30+ year old non-QBs in NFL history who have held out of an $18MM deal…

Any navy is too much. Pics like this get me nervous, like the new uniforms will be a Fubu inspired version of the battle red helmet and jersey alternates with light blue accents like shadow on numbers or something. 🤮 Make it H-town blue or don’t do it. Nothing half ass.

Bringing back Charlie Heck on a 1-year deal for $3.3M

Not a bad deal for experienced depth; was hopeful Deculus could grow into that role but I doubt he makes it out of camp…

I thought I read somewhere that the H town blue wouldn’t be used as a main color. I think it was from the Chronicle so probably BS

Yeah, won’t be the primary color

Although there’s a big push for the Texans to switch completely to something that resembles the Oilers' Columbia Blue, it’s not possible. When franchise owner Bud Adams moved the team from Houston to Tennessee after the 1996 season, he took the Oilers history with him, including the logo and team name, barring its use by the Texans.

Still, the Texans have started using a light blue color — which they’ve dubbed H-Town Blue — in some merchandise and signage and it “will be incorporated in some of the new uniforms the Texans will wear next season,” according to Dougherty’s mailbag.

I still don’t get the impossibility or trademarkability of a color scheme. At various points, the Eagles and Jets were green and white. The 49ers and Cardinals are red and white (cardinals added black as an accent in recent years). Bills and Giants are royal blue with red and white as secondary colors. What gives the Adams family the right to block all other teams from having a non-“Columbia” shade of light blue for a jersey? They really overstepped their bounds IMO by sending cease and desists at UH and Rice for using color schemes similar to the Oilers when no reasonable person would confuse an NCAA team with a professional NFL team. They are being bullies and need a legal slap down.

They put up similar stats last year, but Nico doesn't cost 18 million. Nico also needs a chance to be the #1 this year to earn that big fat extension next offseason. Allen turns 32 in a few weeks and has had a plenty of injuries in his past, as well as an ACL tear. I personally don't think he's worth 18m + a multiyear extension + a 4th to get him, but if you do, great for you. No need to be a twat about it.  I don't think WR is our top need, and I would rather see DT, Safety and CB addressed. There are still some good options out there that could be had at multiple positions for a portion of that 18m.

Was more around the notion that a guy who has averaged 95 catches a year since 2017 (and that’s with one year of 66) is ‘always hurt’ than the value of the $18MM or the extension. Dick comment though; I’m mostly full of shit.

I hope Nico has taken that next step in his 3rd year like so many WRs do, and that Tank completely recovers and shows the explosiveness he showed over the 11 games he played last year.

Still, I think we have to keep in mind that our receiver room is a guy who hadn’t had 40 catches or 500 yards before last year; a guy who will be 32 in week 1, is known for his blocking and is 5 years removed from a 1,000 yard season; a guy still trying to come back from beating leukemia; and two guys who were prepping for their pro day this time last year. There is absolutely potential in this group, but given that we have a generational QB who apparently needs 2 weeks to get used to the pro game, I’d like to prioritize putting playmakers around him above everything and let DeMeco scheme around weaknesses on D. Shit, worse comes to worse he looks like he could suit up and give us 30 snaps a game….

Can surly lawyer mafia explain this? There's an incredibly small number of color trademarks (Texas burnt orange is actually one of them, along with Tiffany blue, UPS brown, and T-Mobile magenta) and I don't remember the Houston Oilers blue being on that list. And no actual consumer (football fan) is actually gonna confuse the Houston Texans with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans when the teams hate each other and play against each other twice a year. Why can't we just tell the Titans to pound sand if they try to stop us from using a particular color? Is the NFL being overprotective?

Are the Houston Oilers colors trademarked?

Being that the light blue jerseys with red-and-white trim along with a red, white, and blue stripe pattern on the helmet, shoulders, and pant legs were a trademark of the Houston Oilers during their “Luv Ya Blue” era, the franchise retained the trademark when it relocated and rebranded to the Tennessee Titans.Nov 10, 2023

I would challenge that shit, either in court or among the other 30 NFL owners. This is grade A bullshit and spite from the Adams family towards regular football fans when their hostility should be aimed at former politicians (many of whom are dead now, like Bud and the raccoon that lived on his head). The McNairs hoped by running from Oilers themes, colors, history, former players, etc. that Houston fans would forget and fully embrace the Texans. It’s become clear that didn’t happen and there’s a huge demand for retro color scheme gear. Cal needs to quit being Amy Adams Seaskunk’s bitch boy.

The powder blue is the most important aspect, anyway. Just use powder blue with another color.

Here you go, Texans. A powder blue jersey that doesn’t use red so Adams family can fuck off, and there is no use of Old English or Fubu font.

They can use the color just can't call it Colombia blue. That's why it's being called htown blue atleast that's what Ive read before. Some merch they have now has that shade of blue. Yes the adams family are scum for all thier pettiness towards Houston.

That's 1 of 4. Wonder if pants are solid navy or have some type of piping

Take a look at the reflection in the glass to the right of Nico. Looks like a thin white next to a thick red piping.

They aren't as bad as ya think. Atleast they are trying to make changes for the better. The on field product is greatly improving

Oh I care way more about on the field. But from that one pic it doesn’t even look like a big change at all. Or not enough for them to make a big deal like some huge improvement is on the way. Maybe the other 3 will be vastly different.

The Kid Mero GIF by Desus & Mero

Chose not to make a light blue jersey

Ignored what Houston fan base (and football fans in general) were crying out for

Used Fubu-esque font for numbers

Way to go, Texans! It was so easy to do a great thing and you stepped on your dick.
