Enforcement organizations? What do you think the DHS/ICE is? Their budget is larger than most militaries in the world and they will do anything Trump tells them to do.

There are barely enough of them to pull of those immigration raids in a single city, scaling that up to the entire continent would require trillions of dollars and tens of millions of those officers. That isn’t happening within the next century, let alone next year.

To this point, I think midterm elections will be HELD.  Will the results be accepted by this admin (including DOJ)?

The margins won't be close enough for them to play that game

I agree with that, I think next year is the year for Texas and Florida, powered by a vicious Hispanic backlash. What do you think of Dan Osborn in Nebraska?

Anywhere in Farm country outside of OK is going to be possible if the economy is bad enough and the Chinese don't start gettign serious about their Soybean purchases. It won't be a case of people becoming Democrats as much as just staying home/punching out of the politcal system for a while.

THat Florida Senate seat is ENTIRELY dependent on candidate quality for the Dems, if they run a turd, no amount of tailwinds will push them across the line.  I think any Southern/Red state that has elected a Democratic governor in the last decade will potentially in play, except possibly Louisiana.  Again, it's just people having a "Fuck those guys" moment.  That's why I put Kansas as potentially at play, if they have a good candidate.

I'm not as worried about the Dems losing the midterms as I am worried that the midterms won't take place.  You know Trump will desperately try to manufacture a crisis that allows him to institute some form of martial law and delay the vote.  They've pretty much told us this.  Will it work?  I have no idea, but I also don't trust this DOJ and SCOTUS to ever do the right thing if it hurts Trump and the Republicans.

"Pretty much" told us this? Trump said it explicitly.

I think it's more likely the elections will go off, he'll declare them fraudulent and try to seize the capitol and prevent Congress from being seated.  Which is like a mile and half from my condo, so that's fun.

As a reminder, Congress expires at the end of next year.  A new one has to be sworn in for their to be a Congress.

They will get out in front of it and spend many months claiming a rigged election prior to midterms. And will do everything they can to delay or cancel it altogether.

Never, ever forget this.

One of the largest, best-funded military forces in the world has been built up in the past few months.

It is intended entirely for deployment domestically.  Against us.

And they’ll fail at it because when elections are held is explicitly laid in the constitution and cannot be stripped out of the constitution. I’m sure he will cry about fraud and doesn’t want to deal with elections results, but he gets no choice.

Getting elected Republicans to go along after the degree of asskicking their party suffers for a man who won’t be on the ballot again isn’t going to happen. There is not going to be January 6th 2.0

Only gotta subdue the pinch points in swing districts/states, where Dem voters can make a difference.

Dude, we didn't think there would be a Jan 6 1.0.  Don't tempt fate.

That assumes the margins are close enough. Like in Florida in 2000 or Ohio in 2004, next year isn't going to be that close.

The point is we know what to look for and how to stop it before it happens. I'm not blindly just assuming it isn't possible, I'm assuming we are capable of preventing it.

How do you strip states of their constitutional obligation to hold elections? Keep in mind those elections are held in less than a year.

If we have moved to the rule of the gun, and Trump has the US military, who is there to stop him?

Dude. You’re treading the line of delusion. Have you not been paying attention the past decade?  It’s always close. No matter what.  Much safer to underpromise and over deliver.

Who the fuck is going to prevent it?  The people in charge today are the same people who were in charge last time around?

What do you think the national popular house vote will be next year brisket?

That is one of the all-time most irrelevant questions.  They don't have to give a shit whether a +10 blue district shoots up to +20, who cares?  It's any competitive or at-risk district that matters.  AND, it also matters that we won't even see some of those votes for weeks or months -- they'll be tied up in machines that were "seized by the authorities [ICE] for investigation of electoral irregularities."  You keep thinking in quaint terms of "votes" and "counting."  That's not the game anymore, man.

We have not, free and fair elections will be held, the electorate will get their say next year.

I have been paying attention, the electorate has changed and this electorate is going to kick the Republicans teeth in. It isn’t always close.

I think the data is apocalyptic for the Republicans and we should celebrate. The past 30 years have been miserable, and we are finally getting data suggesting an unprecedented blue wave is going to arrive, I’m enjoying it.

Americans, us, all of us, and yes that includes the people that prevented it the first time. Do you think 330 million Americans collectively want to overthrow our government and install a dictator?

We is Americans, and we have the same rights and freedoms we have always had to ensure somebody doesn’t crown themselves emperor. In particular the right to vote, in this case voting Republicans out of office, and there’s nothing Donald Trump can do about it.

It is extremely relevant, in particular which districts are competitive depends on the environment. I keep thinking in terms of votes because Donald Trump cannot strip you of your right to vote.

That truly can't be ruled out.  Because many of these dumbasses haven't grasped the difference between "performative" and "strategic."  But...always expect the worst.  In this timeline, you're rarely wrong.

Do you remember Florida and Al Gore?  Votes were thrown away by our legislative branch.  It will be trivial to do so again.

And SCOTUS said, in essence, “counting is too hard, we need finality.”

The margins are going to be way beyond the recount threshold.

Pretty sure Venezuela and plenty of other countries that hold sham elections have that in their constitution as well.

Well, about 40% of this country loves MAGA, so lets not sit here and pretend that lots of folks won't be rising up in another direction, if it went that way.

We were able to prevent before by voting and we didn't. And you were confident we would then as well.

Unless he suspends elections with some form of Sham martial law. What then?

Spiking the football again before the mid-terms is a choice, I guess.

330 milion? No. 100 million...eh maybe.

Again, he suspends elections with Martial Law and there's no vote, what are you going to do about it?

Bingo.  The Constitution of the USSR was incredibly robust in its declarations of rights, democratic norms, and limitations on the authority of the state.

A Constitution is only as good as the willingness of those in power to abide by its limitations.  The GQP has zero regard for any such limitations.  So, quit fucking pretending they matter.  The Rule of Law is never anything more than a mutual agreement, and once one side opts out of it, the agreement is completely dissolved.

If I read that as an actual quote from any (R) elected official in this country, I wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised.

if I then later read that not a single (R) voter anywhere in this country spoke up and denounced that statement, I would be even less surprised.
