oh and further dividing the country? You support a piece of shit whose entire platform is racial division, fear-mongering and hatred. And you eat it up because you are ignorant.

Chastising yourself? Looks like someone forgot which sock account he was logged in to.

Listened to a Fresh Air podcast last week about a reporter following the Nazi movement in America. He thought this meeting would be small but that there is fear that the next protest in Portland may be as bad as Charlottesville.

Yeah the Northwest is a breeding ground for meth'd-out Nazis outside of the major cities. Bussing these guys into college towns or the SUPER not-Nazi-friendly district of Columbia on the eastern seaboard is a different ballgame and much harder than just harvesting them from their meth shacks in the mountains to head to nearby Portland.

This is the reality of the Nazi movement. We can sit safely in our comfortable Texas whiteness and pretend there is no threat, but that's only because there is no threat to us specifically. Nazis aren't marching through OUR streets chanting "blood and soil" and "Jews will not replace us". But the situation in Portland is that you have a much stronger fascist movement and cops that are often working directly with those fascists.

The both-siders can eat their fucking sheet cake with Tina Fey, but those out on the streets fighting Nazis are the ones doing the real work of protecting people from the worst of these monsters.

So when everyone does it, everyone is equally guilty regardless the validity of character they are justified in protecting religiously, politically, economically, and relatively relating to acting the same way using different excuses educated as facts humanity has the right to tell humans who they are each generation playing reality's games of hide and seek of what is really going on.

I get the counter protest but I think it would be more awesome if " unite the right" just marched down the street and no one payed attention, no news cameras were there and the march just ended with this impotent whimper of the alt-right deciding where to get a hot dog.  There is no better counter protest than to make a group feel like they are completely irrelevant.

I agree with that sentiment, but I also know that if you give an inch, they take a mile. So you show up to protest whether it's a million nazis or 1 nazi. Because if 10 nazis march and they feel like its "okay," then the next time you have 100, then 1000.  That's where we got with Obama. We thought society had changed enough where everyone could go about their business and we could ignore a nazi here and there. We thought the fight was over, but it's never over.

I still think the best response to these brainless fucksticks is to have 50 tuba players following, taunting with a few goofy notes, and periodic chants of “you’ll all die virgins!”, maybe “you masturbate to cuck porn!”

Treat them like the fucking joke-ass losers that they are. Be relentless. Make fun of them. Shame them. Humiliate them.

I also say that’s how to handle short-dick Trump.

For sure, the PNW is worse. It has 2 cities which are excessively liberal, but neither particularly diverse (though Seattle tries), and an entirely white and rural countryside to the east of Seattle and Portland which hate the cities. Washington and Oregon are actually America in a petri dish. Uber liberal cities controlling very rural areas, but they're less diverse than America as a whole.

And certainly worse than TX or NY. TX has always been diverse ethnically in its rural areas. NY is now diverse in most of its rural areas.  In WA and OR, they're almost all white.

We are talking nazis, right?  Really Brad Pitt and Tarantino had it right.

That’s kind why I’m thinking so few showed up.  It’s dawned on them that marching around and pushing white supremacy is looked down upon by most in this country.

And some of their friends...

Them being fired and ostracized won’t stop the most hardcore of them - they will just go back to their parents basement and keep up with their mail-order businesses, or whatever.  But it’s going to make plenty who aren’t quite that serious have second thoughts and keep that shit to themselves.

For those curious about Tina Fey and sheet cake...

The centrist/lib response to Nazis in the streets is to do nothing but get mad in silence to maintain maximum decorum.

Doxxing is now something many of you seem cool with, but at the beginning of this movement doxxing was considered too strong and too indecorous a response. Even the centrists and libs are learning, VERY FUCKING SLOWLY, about how Nazis are properly dealt with.

... are you trying to tell me that I didn't know about the Nazis who lost their job?

He was the one that argued that those on this board aren’t actually politically active and won’t vote. Very queer that someone who frequents a University of Texas board doesn’t understand who the posters are that frequent it. Almost like he’s not actually connected to The University in any real way....hmmmm

Everyone with a strongly held opinion should be ready to "man up" and be publicly identified for it.  If the consequences of hate speech is losing your job and other affiliations then so be it. But you are a naive and ignorant fool if you think doxxing changes the hearts of people.

If there was only some historical figure that set an example for breaking down barriers in the civil rights movement of this country that helped put us on a long term path to reconciliation. One who believed in righteous civil disobedience and used non-violent measures to befriend those in opposition rather than humiliate or "defeat" them.

Tread on them.

That's bold.

I don;t wish violence and certainly not injury, but part of me wants to see if it is NBA type bitchassery or people truly duking it out should both sides meet for a 'debate.'.

Minors?  Without consent of those in charge of them?

Correct.

Maybe for another thread, but being of the age of 18 makes a difference to me, both as a citizen and a parent.  i said so then and stand by it today.

17 is arguably the age of consent for sexual activity.  21 is the age for legal drinking and gambling.   Since 18 is the required age to vote, that is how I arrived at my statement regarding political demonstration.

we make the little fuckers do the pledge of allegiance.  Isn't that "political demonstration?

We don't need them to change, we need them to shut up. Civil Rights progress did not come by converting all white people away from white supremacy, it came from shaming the white supremacists into silence/non-participation.

Look not all trumpkins are racist. But the orange god uses the exact same words as David duke and his ilk and there is a reason why David duke and his ilk wholeheartedly support trump.

True they weren't initially, but at what point would they be? I'm leaning towards yes but not sold on it. If they continue supporting him despite his parroting of racist rhetoric, "both sides/shithole countries", continued dehumanization of immigrants, won't the needle move and ...as dumb as this sounds but make them racist by association?  Saying "I'm not a racist but i support racists!"  sounds like something racists in denial would say.

Given how fond the alt-righter/white supremacist types are of doxxing their critics, they shouldn’t have a problem being publicly identified themselves.

False. They had their full chat show lineup and then during news shows cut in on the rally a few times. Fox covered it more or less full time.

That's not how you spell promoted.

ANTIFA was literally first claimed as a title by the KPD and RFB (and other Communists) in the fight against Hitler's growing nationalistic fascist movement. Literally invented to fight the Sturm in the streets.

If grandpa is real and is 96, he was 10 years old at the time.

*thinky face*

A. I'd imagine that 10 year olds remembered something that historically significant.  I was 10 when Reagan was shot...I remember it clearly, what I was doing, even them throwing him into the car.

B. There is no growing Nazi movement here.  Unless you want to consider people for border control Nazi's now as well?  If so we've got a lot of Hispanic 'White Supremacists' here in San Antonio I could introduce you to.

I actually feel the same way about Nazi's & Communists...there are only two types...the good ones, and then the ones still alive.

So  let's stop pretending the Antifa fucksticks are any less appalling than the Nazi fucksticks. They're all shitty people.
