I’ve heard Mystic is evacuating today. My daughter isn’t there this term but has friends there now. I think it’s a challenge to get in and out right now.

My niece has a friend who is a counselor at Mystic right now. Her friend’s car was washed away. I’m hearing from another friend that Mystic had cabins wash away and La Junta sustained devastating damage. My friend with a son at La Junta is still waiting for news on where they evacuated the kids to this morning.

Been on the phone with some pals who live in Kerrville and Ingram.  They're guys who have been there their whole lives and each one used the same word - "Unbelievable".

I tried to check the Kerrville online gauge level and it's not even reporting.

This is something not seen before.

They didn’t say it was GLORIOUS?

I went to Waldemar (plenty of friends from Amarillo went to mystic) and my brother went to Camp Stewart. This is awful. I swam in that river as a camper for years and then as a counselor taught swimming. Jesus.

My sister and niece both went to Waldemar. They’re hearing from their network that Mystic and La Junta got the worst of it, but I think that’s purely speculation since there’s so little information coming out of there right now.

No, and neither should I have.

Was just kicking you in the balls for your mistake. It’s what we do around here.

Having lived in Kerrville for years I don't recall a lot of stuff and down river from there that is built up near the river, but if it wasn't close to the roads I was driving along the Guadalupe between there and Comfort I wouldn't know.   In the middle of town the river bed is really wide if my memory serves.
It's what is up river from Kerrville that is in the crosshairs I'd think.  Hunt, Ingram, Waltonia, Mystic, etc.

You’re correct. My friend’s wife and children are being rescued from the 2nd floor of the River Inn Resort as we speak. Family friends in Hunt who have two houses on property are safe, but both houses are completely destroyed. One of the houses is 150 years old. I had no clue it was going to be this bad.

Search and rescue is going to be a mess if they have to evacuate any of the summer camps and parents start freaking out and try getting on the roads.

And you just know that is exactly what's going to happen.

This is right down from my house. I’d load the whole video, but don’t know how. This is an incredibly tall bridge over a valley. You typically can’t even see the river from this road.

Where are you?

Out here at Lake LBJ. Hasn’t stopped raining yesterday and this morning. Radar does not look like it’s stopping anytime soon.

The dot is where I lived for years...

That park is low and very wide. Good Lord that's a buttload of water.

LCRA radar overlay, LBJ and Travis watersheds getting pounded (and Kerrville too)…

Fucking sucks. I’ve told people in conversation who see the lake at our house that it will take death and severe property destruction to fill it up when people ask “what will it take to fill it up?”

I hate this part.

Man, lucky I picked my nephew up last weekend from LA Junta. The good news, is that camp and those people are well prepared.

I picked up my daughters from Waldemar last weekend. Have friends with daughters at Mystic. Very scary.

What's the expectation as this thing crawls east towards the Austin metro area?  The new kid on KXAN is not exactly Spencer or Yeomans.

Unless the force field is super strong I say it almost assuredly will hit Austin. It’s already hitting the western bans of the Greater Austin area.

Surprised they didn’t call in Spencer off the bench last night and have him suck back six Red Bulls and let him rip.

Just talked to my friend who is there to pick up his kids from camps. They were supposed to get done with this session on Monday.

I live in River Crossing. The north end of the neighborhood has homes near the south bank of the Guadalupe. KSAT says the river there will be +34 feet later today. Those homes have to be close to getting wet.

I'll set the o/u for Canyon at 9.5 feet.

I would watch that for hours.

Same. You always knew it was getting good when the jacket came off, the tie got loosened and the sleeves got rolled up.

When he and Yeomans were working together on I think the big freeze...that was as good as weather coverage gets.  Seriously, they were both A-teamers, and played off of each other perfectly to communicate how alarming and big a deal it was, without coming across as hysterical or hyperbolic.

hope this helps as many are working to confirm information.

That may turn out to be true but I’m getting reports that there are missing Mystic girls. In response to that tweet.

Everything I’ve heard says all accounted for, but I did find the wording of that tweet to be a little odd in that it said all “child” campers. Hopefully it was just awkwardly worded.

JFC. My daughter works at Laity Lodge on the Frio. She has 24 hours off and was supposed to come home. That's probably off the table.

My daughter just told me 26 missing. She’s 17 and reliable but sometimes might not have most up-to-date info. My wife (also Waldemar) and sisters in law have heard directly from moms with still-missing kids.

The tweet was for the video. Not for the seemingly contradictory all kids accounted for message.

The San Saba River is forecasted to peak at 32.4 feet, another 17+ feet above its current level.  Christ, this is feeling like the Blanco River flood from 10 years ago.
