Any assistants from PSU, Florida, etc that we'd want? I wouldn't mind bringing Stan Drayton back (ducks)

Before his stint at Florida, I had always considered Napier to be a very good QB coach. Now I don't know what to think.

Yall some bitches. Back-to-back quarterfinals and everyone’s throwing a hissy-fucking-fit about a young team having to learn how to compete on the road in tough environments.

You don’t read so good.

We’re throwing a fit because we suck and we shouldn’t suck. The places we do suck should not suck and the places that don’t suck would be more understandable if they did suck.

You just mentally blocking out that arguably the worst game our OL and QB have had... was at home? Against UTEP? "You can't expect year three players to perform well in a hostile environment like their home stadium against a satellite school!"

Seriously. Stop stop trying to make excuses for what has been horrible OL play for basically six years now. People losing their minds saying the program is about to completely implode do need to be slapped back into reality a bit but offensive scheme, QB development and OL development have been objectively awful for years now and a direct roadblock to our success. We are building a level of talent around the program that we can consistently have great seasons in spite of all of this but most of that was serious overachievement by specific units on the field that cannot be asked to replicate that every season.

Brother we are throwing a fit because we were gunning for it this year.  10s of millions have been spent to avoid a down year.  They looked at the offense and thought to themselves they had a championship team during the off-season.  Can't tell me an offensive performance comparable to Shawn Watson is good enough.  No fucking way.

Uh huh. Because that’s the issue.

To be fair, I don’t watch the games because the offense is shit and out of sync this year.

Hahahaha. It is to laugh. …

This is year 5. Steve Sarkisian has been given everything. EVERYTHING he has ever asked for or needed with this program. Many people have spent real money to support this fucking dipshit. He’s coaching a soft offense with a shit run game. Maybe you’re too dumb to grasp all of this, but the only pussies involved with this program are those coaching the offense, the finesse bitches on the OL and the QB who shrieks every time he hears footsteps.

Regarding the assistant coaching discussion, here are some thoughts from my end:

-Flood's not guy driving the bus regarding the approach to OL blocking, according to those familiar with the practices. He didn't forget how to coach overnight, either. So firing him is probably something Sarkisian does in order to save face after the season.

-Sarkisian is a poor OC as a HC. The numbers bear out that he's generally done a mediocre to shitty job and that isn't going to change with a new OLC. One of the biggest issues with Sarkisian's offensive approach is that it is finesse-oriented. That's just not going to fly in the SEC against the athletes they're facing on everyone's front 7s. With the most talented OL Texas has had in decades last year, they often struggled to run the ball against good defenses. Point is, for the OL to really improve, Sarkisian's approach needs to change as much as anything. Seems unlikely.

-Milwee needs to go. Sarkisian needs to hire an independent QB coach with actual skins on the wall. No QB has gotten better at Texas during the Sarkisian era. Not one. 2 of the highest rated QBs of all time have gotten to campus and not improved. One got drafted as an afterthought in the 7th round. The other has become a laughingstock and an accidental meme generator and he's embarrassing himself on a weekly basis. That's all on Sarkisian in some form, but he's not going to fire himself. He needs to fire his buddy and hire someone who can call him on his bullshit and coach the QB room.

-What are we seeing and learning from Chris Jackson? Do we see WRs getting better? It's somewhat hard to discern with the OL being historically terrible while the QB is constantly either running for his life, shitting himself or doing both.

-Too early on Huff.

-I don't see anything happening with Banks and the TEs actually seem like they're improving with reps.

They need to hire a dedicated ST guy

So if Mike Locksley gets fired at Maryland, would it be a good idea for Sark to hire him as an OA since Sark refuses to get an OC? At one point, he was the Broyles Award winner as an OC for Saban and knows what it takes to be an OC in the SEC. It doesn't fix Sark's issue of seeing himself as the best OC option at Texas when the numbers don't reflect it, but maybe Saban can suggest this guy as someone who won't be a yes-man and Sark will actually take the advice.

Is it true Becton was hired because the players under Herman complained about Yancy McKnight so CDC went more towards a speed/endurance ST coach in Becton?

I am not sure Becton is at fault here.  Our DLs have been very strong at the point of attack so they must be doing the correct work out.  It's probably blocking scheme that's being taught.

But we did dog walk Alabama and Michigan with the run game before.  I think its more of Sark playcalling for finesse shit no?

I’ve heard sark and flood are beefing.  Weird that flood would want big humans to play finesse.

he will likely be the manny to mack brown ie fired mid year 2026 to save his own job

Correct, Becton doesn’t have shit to do with the offense looking weak. Sark doesn’t really fuck with defensive side the ball too much so PK has their mental right. You can hear this in press conferences from defensive players vs offensive.

The problem is sark is a front running pussy and isn’t tough. You see this come out time and time again year after year.

Good point, then it’s gotta be the blocking scheme/evaluation of the offensive linemen out of high school (3 star jags) because there’s no reason Connor Stroh/Robertson/Hutson should be on this roster

It’s lack of identity as a whole imo. You can’t point to a single identity Texas has offensively. Sark is trying to be too smart/too cute each week.
