The only way this makes sense is if we are bringing in a bigger outside portal WR. Otherwise what the fuck we doing man? Livingstone has limitations but he provides that security blanket along the sideline. No one else we have can do that and it showed all season.

This isn't hard to figure out. He knows he's about to lose playing time.

Not strictly transfer related, but significant roster news

  • This kind of shit from our fanbase wears me out. Sark took over a lost program and since we've been to 2 semis and should have been in the playoffs this year but for a committee that doesn't understan

Feels crazy considering his relationship with Arch and his prominent playing time during the season…wonder if there’s any read-through to us locking down a big fish portal WR or if this is Livingstone thinking he can get more $ elsewhere.

Maybe Arch won’t let him have the leftovers from all the girls knocking on their door every night.

“C’mon Arch, you’ve already got 3 in there with you! “

“Fuck off Jagger, you dropped too many last game”

Bold move, let's see if it pays off.

Livingstone didn't have many drops until last night. He was probably our most sure handed receiver this year

Wonder if Ryan Williams stays at Bama or transfers out. I've heard nothing.

I thought I heard during the bama game that he said he was coming back

Sark is either going to hit big, next season, or retaining Flood, some of these allocation decisions, and his stubbornness on the offensive side of the ball are going to do him in. Anything beyond a playoff run next season is inexcusable.

Correct. Ryan Williams had one of those "announcing my return" non-update updates that are so annoying to see earlier this week.

This might be what makes sense. Coleman is a big outside receiver, and if they are also keeping Wingo, the Coleman position would be Livingstone's.

Again, this era of cfb is profoundly less fun.

You just have to look at it like an anthology series. Every season is independent from the last, and an actor may or may not carry over into a different role.

Cam Coleman would be nice, but I’d be happier with Keshaun Singleton from USF and save the $ for the interior OL guys.

Out of all the receivers, Mosley is who I want back the most.

What are we? Poors?

Another year of Ffrench and Lockett developing might have pushed him out if he was asking for something crazy.

The Livingstone thing feels offensive in a way that other portal entries haven't.

This reaction to Livingstone transferring is comical. I thought y’all didn’t care about losing marginal talent. Livingstone had all season to prove his spot should be solidified. He didn’t do that.

A 3 outside WR rotation of Wingo, Coleman, and Moseley would be damn salty for a leveled up Arch in his NFL audition and heisman favorite season.

Arch and Sark cutting out Arch's buddy and roommate to bring in a more talented mercenary is some football game of thrones shit. Provided they're still buddies and Arch didn't bang Livingstone's hoe or something.

More than Wisner?

Moseley would be elite in the slot because of his awareness with zone coverages and when to sit.

Feels entirely reasonable to me to bet on giving Lockett/Ffrench/Bishop the reps and opportunity to be major contributors instead of stuffing them in the depth chart

Did they mention anything about his injury. Was in a boot at the end of the game?

Why not both?

agreed. all things being equal, i'd prefer he stayed, but this isn't a major loss or anything like that.

Wisner was a JAG asking for RB1 money. Maybe we will soon find out that Livingstone was also making absurdly unrealistic asks but I highly doubt it. Livingstone is also a fairly average outside WR. Wisner was considerably below average by every objective measure.

Ryan Williams turned in a big 26 yd catch but only added 5 catches for 27 yds outside that one play. As his team got demolished by 35 points and only scored a FG.

Those hillbillies can keep him

I distinctly remember at least one of Arch’s interceptions being a great ball to Livingstone that thudded off his hands

It feels more personal because he was on record of being all burnt orange from birth and dreaming of being a Horn. Then gets his dream, exceeds expectations in his 2nd year, and gets pushed out for a mercenary.

Would be like Ehlinger getting pushed out for Kyler Murray if the portal existed back then. Would be understandable from a talent perspective, but just feel very very wrong. It's going to hit the emotions of fans.

Maybe—just maybe—we really aren't fucking around.

Lefau was a nice linebacker, sure, but was he truly a difference maker? Ty'Anthony Smith seems to have shown his class in far less time. Moore and Jagger were B- or B receivers but they ain't winning big games for you. Wisner had some good stretches against rivals but he was nothing special. He was outshined by Clark, who is just now returning from injury, in the bowl game. So far Texas is losing some nice players, but not difference makers. Maybe the money sees what we all see. Arch and Simmons are generational players, and we've got a legitimate chance to run the table next year if we build a complete roster around them in their final years. The moves I've seen so far this offseason suggest that Texas is going to pay difference makers. And they're going to let good players walk with the intent finding great replacements.

Still, it's been fun to watch the bed-wetting the last couple of weeks.

Yeah, the logic people have used all week to not care about Wisner leaving absolutely applies to Livingstone too.

This one is definitely a headscratcher from multiple perspectives.

Livingstone was pretty reliable all year and just a RS Freshman… He’s going to develop into a solid player. This stings.

Does it? Wisner left because we weren't going to pay him a million dollars. This doesn't sound like a "Texas wouldn't meet Jaggerson's $$ demands" deal.

The every year free agency thing sucks, profoundly. Part of the charm of CFB was having guys like Livingstone on the team come up big in dumb moments - I will never forget the zombie bump of the Jake Oliver recruiting thread in 2016.

There is only 1 football to go around and adding even just one receiver from the portal likely meant that one of Mosley/Livingstone/Wingo would squeezed out of playing time/targets, and that’s before you even factor in dudes like Lockett/McCutcheon/Bishop/TEs/RBs in the passing game.

Don’t like that

If we can land Coleman, which honestly may be in the works, it'll work itself out. But yeah, this is not great by any measure. I guess ur frees up a scholarship for a better WR, but damn we are thing. He plays the X and all we have there is WIngo and Lockett. Maybe Terry can play if, but he's working out at RB, so we have to hit the portal. Coleman seems like the choice so far. He's all about money as a mercenary, and I'm fine with it. We need more names, tho.

We don't actually know that yet.

Has to be a way to hold on to the guys that bleed orange though. Not only that - Livingstone showed a ton of promise and was making plays early in the year when everyone else was terrible.

Arch's roommate leaving? Dayum. Arch is going to have to make new friends on the team.

To whom? Lockett? I'm fine with that. Just seeing if that's who you had in mind.

I would go with Mosley over Livingstone as sure handed, but he was solid. I wonder if the staff already has someone lined up?

Portal, Wingo (maybe), Mosley

McCutcheon, Ffrench, Lockett, Livingstone

Then three true freshmen. That would have been 10. And those first six are all gonna play a bunch, and so is Bishop. I suppose it makes more sense if you think about it in a "PL wasn't going to even be in the two-deep" sort of way.

31 minutes ago, CockadoodleHorn said:

You are correct, he did say he's coming back, which is fine considering he's a drop passes machine.
