Six RBs isn't enough to your liking?

Given the injury history and lack of experience, it would not have been bad to bring in a proven RB.  I did not see any great runs. Mostly got what the OL blocked. Texas used 2 RBs in the game and one of them is not 100%. Great blitz pick up by Baxter in this game though.  I assume Baxter will show more with the football in hands as the season goes on, I doubt he is 100%. Of the 6 RBs only 1 came into the season trusted and healthy (Wisner). Clark had 0 experience and was coming off major injury. Gibson came in with major trust issues. The other 2 are true freshmen. Its room with potential, but also a lot of questions.

My post was what non-autists know as “sarcasm”. No shit you have whines about the RB room. Strong work ignoring the consequences of actually bringing in this ethereal quality, proven, healthy back from the portal as well.

All the people saying that Baxter was back because he ran with the 1s were wrong. He didn’t look the same. He’ll need to bulk up and be a bruiser for his nfl future.

For the orthopedic doctors here, how much more explosion can you get back after a big injury if you’re already fit to play?

What? "Back" meant playing. Not playing at 100%. I don't remember anyone ever claiming that.

Well if he can beat out a 1,000 yd rusher for the start at less than 100% that’s great news. I’m curious how much more juice he gets back.

not a doctor, but I think most doctors would say every case is based on the individual. There is also the mental aspect of injuries. Sometimes it takes a while after a guy is fully healthy for him to trust his body fully. Not the answer you are looking for, but I dont think even CJ knows when he will be the same.

Whoops I knew he played the first snap, but I thought Baxter had more touches. It’s sometimes hard to tell when you’re at the game and we were sitting pretty low.

I think we see a situation where Wisner gets fed and eats against teams we can bully up front and we lean harder on even carries to maybe mostly Baxter against better teams (pending no hiccups to injury recovery).

Wisner is great in this offense against Ark, UK, etc teams we just pushed aside.

I’m happy with how the running game was.  Every team looked like dog shit week one and I didn’t expect to average almost 5 yards a clip with how the o line was shaping up and how fucking shitting the game was called

Pieced together the PFF OL grades:

PFF grades:
DJ Campbell: 60.7 (69.4 pass/57.9 run)
Connor Stroh; 44.9 (64.3 pass block/39.1 run)
Brandon Baker: 41 (35.6 pass/55.3 run)
Cole Hutson: 63.2 (52.7 pass/63.8 run)
Goosby: 73.9 (77.9 pass/69.2 run)

Agree. I'm thinking SJSU gets gashed.

Man Goosby is a monster... would be amazing if he stuck around another year but I won't fault him for leaving.

This sort of data is available in a lot of different places

You can use this thing called Google to search for stats in a given game.

ie: Texas vs OSU 2025 stats

With a largely ineffective QB, and an "OC" choosing to run primarily up the middle, neglecting misdirection for the most part and still averaging 4.5 including the QB is pretty fucking impressive given the defense Texas was facing.

Edit - This isn't to say the line's performance was great. More to point out between QB performance and game plan, our OL executed pretty damn well. There are issues with the OL but I think there are a lot of mitigating factors.

Good grades for Hutson, Goosby, and Campbell.

Shit for Baker and Stroh....but what was Neto's?

Thanks. I had already done that. Thus, I thought.

BENCH STROH!

It was only 11 snaps, but I would definitely argue for more snaps for Neto to get a bigger sample size to make the decision

I just used AI on the Texas grades. You can do the same for Bama. I dont feel like  goign through Bama, since we dont play them.

Ironically, he graded the opposite of what one have expected. Great in pass, not so great run blocking. Definitely limited sample size though.

This may have been covered already but why no Gibson or Clark appearances? I would have thought Gibson especially. So if he didn’t even get a touch I’m assuming portal in December.

He’s also a monster sized human being.

just for context Banks 88.2 overall (89.9 pass/82.4 run)

Goosby was solid, but not in the monster tier yet..

70.0–79.9: Average/Starter. The player is meeting expectations for their position.

80–89.9: Good/Above Average. A grade reflecting solid, consistent, and high-level play.

Maybe we can entice him to stick around by signing his brother to the basketball team...

I thought we might play them in a injury-minefield-and-not-that-important SEC Championship game, but after seeing BamaJelly in their first game, they are spread way too thin!  Lulz.

I doubt we'd see them in the SEC Championship game.

And since I mentioned that, the SEC should chuck the SEC Championship game to the curb and have a playoff-play-in-weekend instead, with 2 CFP-play-in games where the winners get to be the last 2 SEC spots in the CFP.

Gibson has fumbleitis and cannot be trusted in a close game.

What is that Banks grade? For his career? Last season?

That grade for Goosby is a 1 game sample size against maybe the best team in the country - and he was 5+ points better in both phases than any other lineman. In a game where the OL actually looked pretty good.

Banks is a very high bar.

that was last year. I put Banks in the "monster" category. Goosby grades looked really good, because overall the OL did not grade out well.

That's fine. I'm not going to debate the proper qualification. He's not at the Outland level but he's a 1st round pick unless something changes.

Keep in mind he was also banged up to some degree in his hands going into last weekend.

Hey man, we didn't need the imagery of you fucking Jeff Howe.

I've been blamed for a lot of stuff on the boards over the years. Some of it justified, some of it absurd. What I've never been blamed for, however, is posting a thread title that cost us a game. Solid work.

That Oilers, Bum Phillips loser pep rally gonna kick that sumbitch in thread title was terrible.

His height, arm length, and foot quickness will make him a 1st round pick IMO. Especially if he shows out at the combine. Being a 6'7 OT at 315-320 lbs is a NFL organizations wet dream.

You should have reported me to the authorities or something if you couldn’t handle it. Didn’t you already come on here and whine about it?

He had a chance to get into the circle of trust all spring with Baxter out and Blue gone, and the result was a guy coming off an Achilles tear passing him on the depth chart.

Has he? I feel like I haven't heard one word about him since the start of camp, other than stuff like "passed by Clark and maybe Simon".

Shut up about thread titles, the real problem is the stupid fucking Texas! Fight! thread every Friday before games. We haven't won shit since that started on whatever board it was at the time. So corny and has brought nothing but bad juju.

It's like the wave for Longhorn internet message boards. We almost won this week because South Austin couldn't start it but then troph screwed everything up.
