9-3 Texas is watching the playoffs

OU losing weakens our win over them. Same with Vandy.  Yall still think this were Texas shit matters.   We’ve looked like smashed asshole all year old and haven’t played a single complete game. Even OU was close until a punt return.

but yeah ole miss and 10-2 will be left in favor of us lol

lol and?

And what?  We haven’t looked like a playoff caliber team this year. For about 1 half last week we did. Optics apparently matter because it’s all the media and everyone in college talk about Seeing how my prize picks have went this year I’m doubling down 9-3 Texas doesn’t get in.

WTF is with your obsession with "dropping before rising"?  That's bizarre.  The committee will rank on a week to week basis, and if (for instance) we lose to UGA and drop a bit, but beat Arky and then A&M, there is no reason to believe we will be shut out of the top 12.  Quite the opposite, in all likelihood.  Lose on the LAST weekend and you're probably fucked.

Yea it really has to happen in that order you pointed out as long as aggy continues to win. A W-W-L would be worse.

Thankfully the committee seems to disagree

Can someone explain to me how it makes sense to have a team that isn’t even ranked bump a top 11 team out of the playoff? Only college football can create such a stupid ass system that should be straightforward.

Not to your stupid Boston ass.

I’m an optimist.  aggy loses to Missouri this weekend…we beat Georgia at their house, beat piggy here, then make aggy’s life miserable the day after we fill up on turkey and dressing…..boom.

Hey one of you gambling degenerates, run those numbers on a hundred dollar bet…not the turkey part though

Probably mentioned.

Interesting stat from college radio today. The sec schools that the Aggies have played are a combined 6-20 in conference play and all have a losing conference record. 4 of those teams have fired their coach. Paper tiger? Maybe, maybe not.

They missed Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, ole miss, and if you want to throw it in, vandy.

It’s the perfect storm for them to finally do something.

Yeah but Daddy is coming with his belt...

You’re my problem, Masshole. Google “I’m retarded and don’t understand the CFP. Explain it to me.”  Or don’t and continue to ask questions my wife asks. At least I’m getting a kick out of your ignorant posts.

If we’re 9-3, our narrow chances are most impacted by these games:

11/8: BYU @ Tech, Oregon @ Iowa, Navy @ ND

11/15: ND @ Pitt, OU @ Bama, Iowa @ USC, TCU @ BYU, Utah @ Baylor

11/22: BYU @ Cincy, USC @ Oregon

11/29: Ole Miss @ MS ST

We would need BYU to lose 2. OU to lose to Bama. Oregon to be upset by the loser of Iowa @ USC. Baylor to beat Utah.

Based on ND being ahead of us, I don’t see that changing if we both had 3 losses unless they lost to Navy and looked bad in a win against Pitt.

Office aggy predictably expressed his undying love for the 8 game conference schedule today. “Another SEC game takes a check away from a small school that really needs the money.”

I could stay up all night and couldn’t come up with a more aggy statement than that.

next time you need to respond with "yes I agree, schools like App State and Southwestern Louisiana need that money"

I think this is the worst way to do 9-3

4 sec teams after: Bama lost to FSU,  Ole Miss beat Wazzou by 3 at home, UGA used their three free slots on Marshall, Austen Pea, Charlotte.

So they didn’t schedule tOSU and has one conference loss but no others and ranked #5? Seems to be working for them.

Ok. Is the argument that Bama, Ole Miss, and UGA should be replaced with Utah, Georgia Tech, and Louisville?

I think the lesson not to schedule a good OOC opponent isn’t really reflecting in the committee’s work. That could change with 9 SEC games.

Bama is the highest ranked one loss team, and they have arguably the worst loss. But their run against good opponents got rewarded. The committee explained as much.

The committee was more than willing to put three two loss teams above multiple one loss teams. They aren’t harshly punishing ND or Texas or Bama for those early season losses. They rewarded the H2H vs OU. The deciding factor was likely the Florida-Kentucky-Miss State games vs Notre Dame.

And on the flip side, winning those good early games brings rewards that aren’t being factored into the decision making. On balance, winning probably helps cement your place more than losing dings you.

I also think the committee got a lot nerdier on stats that they’d have at their fingertips.

They’ll find a way to get a third Big 10 team in. The Big 12 and ACC need to be one bid leagues, and ND needs to stumble.

How is that any different than us beating Kentucky and ms state in OT and not dominating our cupcakes?

So, this team is trending the right way and anyone at all who looked at the vandy game knows that Texas is for real.

You cannot keep acting like vandy scored a legitimate 31. It was garbage time TD and it was 29 at best including that without all the ref fuckery on a clear failed conversion.

They scored the last TD with 30s left to not lose by 11. This wasn't a close game against a vandy team that was getting a lot of love. A big part of that is Texas looked like a dominant team. The first quarter they looked like the best team in the country easily.

With ND's schedule this year, they should have been required to beat either Miami or A&M to make the playoffs.

Their schedule is trash.

While true, their special carve-out for the playoffs basically guarantees they get in at 10-2 or better.  They will always get the benefit of the doubt.

Just need Pitt to do the damn thing

It’s not hard to comprehend. If we lose to Georgia we will drop from 11 to 13, 14 maybe 15. Lose by 10 handedly with Georgia taking a knee it could be 16. How are you rising from 14 to 10 in the last two weeks?

Texas then has 3 losses look how many teams in the top 25 have 3 losses right now - one. now more will as time goes by but Texas isn’t staying at 11 in two weeks if they lose to Georgia, I’d bet 3-5 spot drop at least.

We will likely be higher than 11th next week. BYU and Tech play each other, and Oregon finally has to play a difficult road game.

Saturday dream scenario for Texas fans:

  • Georgia loses to MSST (or really struggles)
  • BYU blows out Tech to hand them loss #2
  • aggycoaster plunges against Mizzou
  • Oregon loses to Iowa
  • ND loses to Navy
  • Florida beats Kentucky (the closer to .500 Florida ends up, the better for us)

I agree mayhem will happen to an extent, but that includes Texas dropping again before rising. 3 losses was always going to be a tough admission.  And even if the sec gets 5 we can’t sleep on OU they have 2 losses and we have 3? Fuck that noise.  We probably need Big 12 to eat their own, ND to lose, OU to lose, if Iowa or USC beat Oregon they can be a problem rising after a Texas loss. UVA or Georgia tech rising if it’s only one so what. Point is we probably needed to be 8-9 now to absorb a loss. More k think about it all the mayhem that we would need as a 3 loss team, yeah no way I’d count on it.

we need to finish 10-2. That’s where I think this goes.

Add in Michigan, they have NW and Maryland, then OSU at home.  How many years has it been since OSU beat them, 7 or 8?   A 10-2 Michigan who end the year beating OSU would be in the playoffs before a 5th SEC team

Man this thread was pretty heated given Texas is in better position than any of us could’ve expected given the season thus far. This flawed team still has everything in front of them and is finally figuring it out. Let’s fucking go
