  • just like we all predicated five years ago, it’s steve sarkisian and james franklin leading the top two teams into the college football season.

  • Some of you just love being miserable. The fucking rankings mean nothing right now.

8 Oklahoma - feels like the committee just swapped them and Bama due to h2h.  But the truth is that Bama has a top 10 SOS and I don't think h2h overcomes that.  I'd swap them back.

Lol, OU 100% should be ahead of Bama, they won a head to head road game not even two weeks ago on the road. Results on the field matter.

No they wont

They lost to a worse Michigan team, at home, literally last year as the eventual national champion. They haven't beaten Michigan since 2019. If you think this isn't a concern for them, you're delusional.

I didnt say it wasnt a concern. What I said was they will win. And they will. I will wager whatever you want on that.

I don't think h2h should be over-emphasized.   It's usually misleading because the close team with the h2h win typically lost to a worse team. It's in the same league as cherry-picking transitive property.

To settle ties, sure, but I don't think this is a tie.

I disagree with the transitive properties of football.
That ASU game had Dillingham working Joey McGuire like a motherfucker.  Y'all would have enjoyed it immensely if you had seen it.
It also had Sam Leavitt going for 319 and a TD. Jordyn Tyson had 10rec for 105 yards and a TD.

There hasn't been a similar performance by Tech this season, or by an offense being that productive against Tech's defense.  ASU possibly played its best game of the season.  The game was worse than the score indicates.
IMHO, that's exactly why the playoff system is worthwhile.  It allows for that one-off game where injuries, being on the road, or whatever hits your team.

Tech is in the playoffs because Texas and Oklahoma are no longer in the Big12. All I want to hear from you people is thank you.

Tech is swimming in money and will have  basically a cakewalk to the CFP every year, while we have to be Georgia’s gimp in the SEC. The move was pretty clearly very short-sighted.

ever benevolent.  LOL

Imagine the current discussions of how the new refs and Conference digs don't suit you.

FWIW, on Friday, I deeply hope you beat their ass.

It's fun to wade hip-deep through the argumentation. No doubt about it.

The best part is that it'll never stop as long as the Beauty Contest System continues.

Two teams? You're fucked because you're third most beautiful, biggest cup size, least knobby knees... whatever.

Four teams? Fucked at fifth. Twelve teams? Left out at thirteenth.

Let errybody in, at 128 teams. That's seven weeks of playoffs and nobody gets left out.

Plays the #1 defending national champion on the road to a 1 score game and fall short on the final drive of the game and you have the absolute fucking gall to suggest we wouldve lost to Minnesota?

Get our asses handed to us by a 3-8 Florida squad whose only wins are us, MSU and Long Island University and you have the absolute fucking gall to suggest we would've beaten Minnesota?

Oh, you mean the Florida team loaded with 5 star talent where we had a bad game and they caught us off guard? The same Florida team that shouldve beaten Georgia if it werent for shitty calls going UGA's way? Let's also not compare a league game and season opener. And maybe Manning doesnt get the yips if he doesnt get put in the largest spotlight imaginable in game 1.

But the SEC has 7 teams at 9-2 or better.

6 teams (A&M, UGA, Ole Miss, 'bama, OU, Vandy)

Michigan has ZERO wins over a ranked team this year. Texas has 2.

Michigan was handled easily by OU, whom we beat.

Michigan lost to OU and was blown out by USC. Texas has lost @OSU, @GA and @UF.

Don’t give me the close games argument. Michigan survived by 3 points again Nebraska, 5 points against Purdue, and 2 points against Northwestern.

Why again should Michigan be ranked ahead of Texas? There is ZERO rational justification for doing so.

Michigan doesn't matter. It will take care of itself one way or another. Either they will get a 3rd loss and fall behind us (assuming we beat aggy) or they will have a W over the #1 team that beat us and rightfully stay in front of us.

either way, do you really think we are better team for having played ohio state in the first game of the year?  i don’t, if anything it set back arch’s development

um, he's considering Texas at 9-2.  We have already stipulated that the OSU game didn't happen and we played Minnesota and beat them 38-8.  9-2, Magic!

Gotcha.  Missed that.

As a completely biased Bama fan, I wouldn’t mind if we played at Oxford and the Irish got sent to Vegetables Hell Hole, should all this hold. Texas will pants aggy (again) so we may end up playing UGA (again). All kinds of shit could happen.

Rep for Vegetables Hell Hole.

6 teams, and of those,

A&M has played zero of them.
Bama has played 3, went 2-1
UGA played 2 and went 1-1
Ole Miss played 2 of them and went 1-1
OU played 2 of them and went 1-1
Vandy played 1 and went 0-1.

So basically, Bama has put their money where their mouth is, but even they have a loss.  Everyone else is .500 or less against the best teams in the SEC.  Build that bitch as incestuously as possible, and scheduling alone will protect the rankings.  Get the early season projections and let things cook.

It's pure bullshit.

SEC only having 8 conference games is dumb af too.

Texas will have played 4 of those SEC teams, and depending upon this Friday, could be 3-1 in those tilts.

I'd kinda like to see Tech beat aggy in a 1st Round game at Pyle Field. Hopefully, we'll do our part to make it happen.

You're so easy to draw offsides it's almost embarrassing. Wait, no, it is.

Also, I'd say the same for Arch but....you know...we've already seen it...

That's a whole lot easier when you have 16 teams, only 8 games, leading to as little interplay as the SEC has.

If Tech plays a 1st round game it will be in Lubbock, assuming they win out.

not sure you understand how the seeding works.

Top 4 seeds get a bye, which won't be determined until after the CCGs

Where do you anticipate aggy being seeded, assuming UT beats them on Friday and they don't participate in the SEC championship game?

And if Tech wins the Big 12 championship?

I could easily see Tech sitting tight at 5, even if they win out.

Now, the committee does what it wants, but allegedly the CCG losses won't make a team drop.

For those reasons, I'd like to see a Texas win this Friday, in addition to general purposes towards aggy misery.

I would laugh hard if yall beat them. It's pretty much a guaranteed matchup too since the poverty G5 team isnt gonna be able to hang with yall.

I can't see aggy being a Top 4 team if they lose to Texas and miss out on playing in the SEC Championship.

But, admittedly, I haven't researched how the CFB Playoff seeding actually works.

There is nothing to research, the CFP committee makes up whatever bullshit they need to in order to justify their desired matchups.

Who votes on the College Football Playoff rankings?

There are 13 members on the CFP selection committee. It's a collection of people with experience as coaches, players, college administrators, athletic directors and journalists. Here are the members.

Good God almighty, there are 3 women on the CFB selection committee. No comment.

You're right.

These are two different groups, CFB Board of Managers and the CFP Management Committee.

Here's the CFB Selection Committee - 12 members, including one woman.

They'll bend over backwards to get a team like Texas in, but three losses makes that difficult, especially if one of those losses is a really bad loss.

yes at this point. i consider it the equivalent of a bcs bowl.  bare minimum of a successful system.  that might change as it expands though

Lets talk about our really fucking good loss then since you only talk about the "bad loss." We lost by one score on the road and went toe to toe with the consensus #1 team in the country and BIG champion. Then let's talk about the fact we beat OU on a neutral field, beat the fighting Pavias/refs, and will soon hand the #3 team their only loss of the season. Let's also talk about how it's highly likely that two of our losses are going to come to the #1 and #2 teams in the country on the road. Both games were 1 score games in the 4th quarter.
