I've maintained  the plan has always been "can't leave Bama out two years in a row".  I guarantee if our resumes were swapped with Bama's  and we just lost today like they did the committee would push us out and and slide Bama in.

the committee does not have to provide their rationale post-mortem so it will be high comedy watching the disney heads explain the difference between the byu ccg slaughter and going out with 2 losses and the bama ccg beatdown and making it with 3 losses

OU has losses to *checks notes* bubble Texas in a rivalry game and ole miss who is a real deal contender for a national championship

OU's just relieved michigan was dog shit this year when they scheduled them

Michigan was hardly dogshit. They weren't the team they are now early though.

We’re not even in the discussion with the committee anymore. Probably never were even last week. It’s all on bama, ND and Miami. I assume whoever doesn’t make it will be who we play on our Kleenex tissue bowl. Actually that is who should host the two teams that didn’t make it. Kleenex.

Citrus Bowl has 1st dibs among non-playoff bowls and due to bowl ties will be selecting an SEC vs Big Ten game.  It’ll almost certainly will be Texas v Michigan in the Citrus

If we are going to classify the UT loss to UGA as a skull fucking, I would submit , UGA not only skull fucked Bama , but they burned the body afterwards, extinguished it by taking a piss and then ate the steaming pile.

Hear me out; Bama's loss to UGA was a worse skull fucking than our Q4 Bukake, and the  -3 rushing yards that Bama "earned" by backing into the SEC Championship, makes our turd look like a prime rib. I have not seen an ass whipping that bad since LSU could not cross the 50 in the MNC.

By championing our low point and glazing  over Bama's against FSU, ignoring our strong finish while ignoring Bama's end-of-season collection of shit, you completely  delegitimizes your argument. This does not make you a super fan, it only puts you in the same company as that Fuckwit Pig Aggy AD.

piling on, league zebras had to save bama in their paralysis performance in the iron bowl while the night before we had exposed and cauterized the aggy infestation

georgia may be the only sec quarterfinalist

I’m actually glad we are getting left out. Underperforming and squeaking by first round opponent with poor line play, a bad offensive game plan, and special team fuckery followed by losing a clearly winnable game in the second round or semis is not what I want to see.

Sark does some soul searching in the offseason and makes some meaningful changes to staff and process

As disappointed as I am, this is where I’m at. I’ve gotten to the acceptance phase. That being said, the physicality I saw from Georgia was just different. We have to get to that level of intensity on both sides of the ball or we’ll be left with our dicks in our hands every year. PK has been pretty good but the bend don’t break style takes aggressiveness away. The OL style of catching defenders rather than firing out does the same. We’ve got to change to allow our players to be pipe hitting mfers.

I can’t see Bama getting left out for losing a championship game. Especially if Miami gets a spot. If that happens, the championship games are completely devalued. You’d have the ACC’s sole representative being a team that didn’t even play for the ACC championship. Then you’d also be penalizing Bama for losing to a team they beat during the regular season

I'm not glad about Texas not being in the playoffs. I think they are hot at the right time and they would make a deep run and have a legitimate shot at winning it all if they put it all together.

I do think that if there is limited attrition from the portal for Texas and a good 10 transfer class in to address major concerns Texas has a shot at being a wire to wire top 3 team next season.

Alabama deserves to be penalized.  They had multiple bad losses and that Georgia win looks to have been a fluke that happens in rivalry games.

Our defense played soft all year and a lot of the blame should go to Akina for how the DBs played.

Our roof was the semis. We would've lost another winnable game in a heartbreaking fashion in the semis against UGA/IU/OSU (our team just isnt disciplined enough to win when it counts). As long as OU/Tech/aggy dont win, I am okay with this season. And now we can hit the portal hard this offseason without having our hands tied by being deep in the playoffs.

Hey, if only we didn’t have to play the fourth quarter it would’ve been a four point loss

I mean Kirby going for it on fourth down and doing an onside kick that early is a) unfair but b) shows you how scared he is of sark.  I think he asked Kramer to remove us from his schedule next year

I am afraid the only soul searching Sark would do will involve getting out of marquee non-conference games. He thinks playing in the Swamp or the Shoe is hard. Cignetti on the other hand doesn't flinch no matter who the opponent is.

Cignetti is a hard ass and cocky as fuck.   This year he was able to back it up.  I think he got mouthy before the ND game and got crushed.  But I’d take him as our coach any day

You won't have to worry about OU.  They aren't winning shit with Mateer.  He's a turnover machine against good defenses.  I also don't think Tech's defense will hold up against good offenses.  Those big slow linebackers look great against BYU, but when they are dropping in to coverage against teams with a pulse, I think it will be another story.

Show me a great coach that doesn't have these traits. It comes with the territory. Nice guys finish last.

Hopefully we will look at some offensive linemen this year.  Sark knows that’s legal right?  To have a good OL?

If the committee actually had a brain, understood nuance, and watched the games, it wouldnt have knocked us out, but I digress. This was the worst committee we have ever been subjected to. Excited for the format to change so a bunch of retards in a room stop deciding our fate.

If we asked the committee to scrutinize how we looked in each game because the final score doesn’t tell the entire story, they also might look at our games against SJSU, UTSA, UK, and MSU. A reasonable assessment is Texas could knock off a top team but is just as likely to struggle or shit the bed against a lower seed team.

Agree with all of that. Plus, any system that has 2 G5 teams and Alabama in over Texas this season is just fucking stupid.

That said, the team needs to get better. Handle your business and the shitfuckery of the system won’t matter.

They looked like ass and the Refs bailed them out in that game against Auburn.   Auburn seems to be the team picked by the league for the Refs to use to bail out certain teams.  What did Huge Freeze do to piss them off before he was shown the door?

You would focus on how the team looked as the season progressed. We turned a corner against MSU in the 4th quarter.

BYU has a more compelling case than ND. Better SOS, better SOR and 1 loss being a conference championship.

This is the first year Texas has been left out. It's also the only year Texas didn't do enough to be mandated in.

Texas is inarguably a bubble team Florida or Ohio state loss or not. The Florida loss banished Texas from any and all rankings only to claw back from the depths of irrelevancy. Beating aggy by double digits was not enough, it needed to be a blowout by 21+. All gas no brakes is what Kirby fucking smart does. Texas didn't "dominate" anyone this year.

Truth.

The pearl clutchers should embrace it.

If the committee want to be consistent, it is either Bama and Texas or Notre Dame and Vandy.  SOR and elite wins vs handling business and good losses.

I realize that consistency is not a requirement.

Nice try, I ain't buying into SHIT for Texas until we beat Georgia.  So I guess if we make the SEC CG next year.  Until then, week-to-week enjoyment only, no peeking at the future*

I don’t think Texas is getting in, but I do think they’re at least worthy of consideration.  I mention that because I do sense a concerted effort among talking heads the past week plus to not mention Texas at all in such discussions.  THAT feels like an injection of collective bias that shouldn’t be present among the committee members and the media, but who are we kidding here.  Compare it to the way 3-loss Bama was debated up to the release of the final playoff rankings a year ago

The team that deserved the spot more wasn't talked about at all though (Ole Miss).

wtf did bama get the conf champ game over aggy and ole miss again?

I haven’t seen Texas mentioned in the tv discussion at all in the past 24 hours, which pisses me off more than not getting in. We had some great wins and deserve some air time for the hype machine and any recruits watching. Our merits for inclusion seem to be limited to the zealots of surly horns.

Dropping Bama seems to solve a lot:

- No forcing of ND/Miami question

- Avoids 1st round rematches and first round intra-conference games

The big problem is the “punishing for a CCG.” Bama made it easier by getting smoked.

This is what I WANT to happen. I don’t think it happens though.

we are unfortunately out.

The committee is a moving target year-to-year so it’s hard to speak w/ any convention as to their criteria week-to-week much less annually.  They DID hang their hat on “Conference Championship game participants will not be punished due to a loss” a year ago.  This season, and in the past week, Yormark specifically has played it close to the vest in interviews revealing almost nothing to give the public an inside look at committee criteria down the stretch so all we can do is guess.  If it’s the eye test, Bama’s finish vs OU, Auburn, & Georgia didn’t exactly light the world on fire.  But in a world of speculation, one can only wonder what ACTUALLY tips the scales…..eye test?  good matchups for TV ratings?  Who knows, but I would bet the committee, already staring at Tulane & James Madison ruining 2 of the 4 1st round matchups, doesn’t want to flirt with a 3rd choosing BYU over Alabama
