If Bama looks like shit they should drop out. Miami would get in over us. ND could beat OU.

Yeah they won’t have us jump Miami for some stupid reason. Once again it’s the stupid 3>2 losses without taking Schedule into account.

Their losses are far worse than ours.

It's beyond clear the SEC ranking of OU, Bama, Texas, Vandy is honoring H2H.   And somehow ND/Miami is completely outside of that analysis.  I don't know who is lobbying for ND here but I hope they get every decent game scheduled after this BS.  It's beyond clear no upside or downside to scheduling big games OOC given treatment of both Miami and Texas.   ND should be behind all of that group.

Yeah, I'm not really that mad about the Ohio State stuff. The Notre Dame stuff is just massive bullshit. I gave USC shit for dropping that series but I think everyone should do that. Miami beat them. That should matter. It doesn't because Notre Dame can pick and choose their opponents every year and suffers no consequences for losing to good teams.

Committee: We have to put Texas above Vandy due to H2H
Also committee: BUT THE IRISH MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS

How many fucking Catholics are left in this country? They can't keep getting away with this!

We all saw it coming. Committee said fuck you sark. So let’s see if we were bluffing about canceling big OOC games now.

Didn't they just extend deadline to negotiate playoff expansion?  Now Sankey is going into those negotiations with this card (and legitimate threat) of pulling the mandatory P4 OOC game and directive to cancel any scheduled games.

I think this is setting up with a Bama and BYU loss to be Texas first out.... see we didn't punish Texas, they are ranked higher than several two loss teams.

Fuck OU

Fuck ND

and how do we have the best win of the season and move up 3 spots, but when we have a bad loss (not even the worst) and we go from 7 to unranked.

BOMC my ass.

Back in my day. “We’re Texas”. Meant something.   We used to be a proper country

I knew we weren’t getting in, but I am surprised that Alabama last year at 9-3 received way more discussion to be included in the playoffs than Texas at 9-3 this year

I said earlier in this thread that Sankey would be happy with this scenario because now he can get more of what he wants out of the negotiations. I'm sure he's very interested how Bama is ranked if they lose on Saturday. If Bama drops out then the CCG goes away.

You mean the network who stands to lose tons of money at this point didn’t want to bring it up and remind everyone they were about to lose a ton of money? That part didn’t surprise me.

I mean Disney/ESPN hasn’t exactly been the model of a very profitable media company as of late.

They are making their bed….

Yeah, Aggy lost 4 ranks for losing to us and we only gained 3. It's like they treated us like we are the shittiest team alive that pulled a fluke upset. God damn I hope this team uses that as a chip on their shoulder to just absolutely assfuck Michigan in the Citrus bowl and go on a tear next year.

And we should be ahead of ND because common opponents (Arky, aggy) we have 2-0 vs their 1-1.

well that and SOS and SOR.  you know, like every metric other than the loss column.  we have our marching orders.

bowl game doesn't fucking matter. it's a scrimmage.

I’m just glad the corporate fat cats weren’t able to get a deserving Texas team in the playoffs and now the little guy over at *checks notes* Kellogg will get some money from us.

Texas beating Michigan in a bowl game has led to an undefeated national championship the following year 100% of the time.

That was because the nick saban Alabama mystique was still around. Each year that’ll pass and Alabama will be normal again.

Sankey is looking to (i) maximize $$ and (ii) maximize SEC playoff teams.   Networks need marquee OOC games for $$.   Networks (and everyone) want playoff expansion for $$.  This committee just gifted Sankey a ton of leverage.  SEC has dominated the TV ratings this season and Fox/NBC are similarly desperate for SEC teams to play on their networks OOC (again, Fox had TX/OSU which was highest rated game of the year).

Now he doesn't have to threaten to "take his ball and go home".  But what he'll say is that if expansion isn't acceptable to us, we'll just keep it how it is and I'm directing all my teams to cancel ND and any P4 game at their discretion given it's clear there isn't any upside.

B1G and SEC need to lock ND out.

That would be ideal.

But the thing we all need to understand is Norte Dame could play a schedule full Mountain West and what will be the new PAC 12 teams and still lose one or two and get into whatever playoff scenario.

It’s a media driven  and 1% type thing that Norte Dame gets preference.   They try to do same damn thing for USC until they can’t.  Ditto for Michigan until they can’t.   If Northwestern had a good team, they’d get love too.   These schools is where many in the media and power centers went to school.

Why risk an Arch Manning, Collin Simmons acl tear? All for a game that means completely nothing. Get the extra practice. But WGAF about a bowl game.

I think CDC should cancel the ND games first as a threat and add he will cancel Ohio st and Michigan next

I bet some intern got an email to start checking every single P4 schedule to see which low level team has a 2026 opening

Expansion doesn't solve the ooc problem. All you've done is exacerbate it just like going from 4 to 12.  Now teams will not schedule tough ooc to avoid that 4th loss and get in with 3.

The only solution to ooc conundrum is to say you'll consider strength of schedule instead of solely relying on losses, and then actually doing it.
