no they just have to have a hate that burns hotter than 1000 suns and we need to walk on the field with some "we're Texas" bullshit attitude and BAM those pigs win.  That is the exact formula each and every time Arkansas has beaten Texas, all 23 times they have won.

You overestimate the hate the youngs have on both sides of this game. There is no real rivalry here.

Sark: "They hate Texas more than they like themselves"

Pittman: "I would say he's probably right"

Pittman was talking about the fanbase hating Texas more than they like themselves, not the players. The players only want to beat Texas because everyone in the SEC wants to. We're the SEC's villain. It's the reason we get everyone's best game.

Wont be easy, no doubt.  @ IU, OU or GaTech. Those are winnable.  @Tamu or UGA again, sure those would be brutal.  Id be up for it though, we just need to get in first.   We haven't played to our potential all season.  Playoffs is a whole new ballgame. A road team is bound to breakthrough, why not us.

It’s a dynamic system. Institutional motivation does make its way to the locker room.

Bobby Petrino talked about wanting to get the players more into the rivalry by showing them past games. Seems like something that really isn't ingrained in the program at this point since we've only played each other 7 times this century. If this game was on the road, I'd be more worried.

"We’re going to do some things to make sure they understand it, because it’s always been a big deal. I mean, the first time I was here it was always a big deal about, you know, the Arkansas-Texas rivalry and the Big Game," Petrino said. "We’re going to try to put a few things together for them and make sure they understand it and know how important it is to the state of Arkansas."

Arkansas plans to lean into the disdain this week.

"With the transfer portal and with the guys moving from school to school, you certainly don't have that old taste of growing up, I shouldn't use the word hate, but disliking another program as much as it used to be," Petrino said. "So that does make it a little bit different. We're going to try to rev it up, though, and make them dislike (Texas) more."

that's the very definition of institutional hatred and rivalries making their way into the locker room.  he's literally explaining to the team "we hate texas."

Okay but that doesn't mean the players are going to take that and suddenly become the team that's going to head into Austin and whip our ass. Again, if this game was in Fayetteville then sure that's a easy possibility. This is a team that week in and week out can't find a way to win. I don't think that's going to change because Petrino motivates them with games from when they were in elementary and junior high.

Im not so sure about that.  Old Big12 with Nebraska, sure,  especially after breaking their long home winning streak 2x, going 9-1 against them and beating them in St Louis, 1 second game etc...then of course the two Texas schools Baylor, Tech , we were their Super Bowl.  When we announced leaving, the vitriol from the league office, the officiatiing.  KSU always played up for us.

In the SEC, I feel they are way more deferential.  There is a certain level of respect from my interactions working in several SEC states on a weekly basis and interacting with them.  We came into a league with a pre-set enemies (Bama vs Tenn, Auburn and LSU...UGA - FL, Egg Bowl etc..) that IMO we are not viewed with as much annumus like it was in the B12.  They are glad we are here b/c it elevates the conference to whole new level.  Gun to head, I bet the average SEC fan would have preferred to keep the SEC as it was, but they are not "mad" at us coming in like it was when the Big8 and SWC formed.  We didnt break up rivalries in the SEC in the same way.  In some ways, the SEC teams are glad they aren't playing some of the teams on a regular basis, its tough enough already is the sentiment i get.

I can say with 100% certainty that we are not the SEC's villain. Our three rivals maybe, but that's probably it. Maybe LSU. Maybe.

Huh. I was told the problem of everyone unfairly trying really really hard against us would stop when we left the big 12.

Maybe its the Saban connection,  but Kirby seems to make playing Sark personal...  his defense seems to always have a season best game against Sark's Offense.

Probably because it's a brand name match up.

Apparently other teams hate us for being a college football darling despite not deserving it. The money helps fuel it too

It's mainly the money.

Oh, and Texas. The state. That matters a lot.

But we are not even close to being the villains of the SEC. Not yet, anyway.
