A Ukrainian Gepard SPAAG downs a pair of Russian Shahed-131/136s, Odesa Oblast.

I was just wondering where the film of Gepards has been.  We've seen their scoreboards, but not much shooting.  Those things are pretty damned cool.

That means Russia has no drones or counterbattery fire to take them out?  How much more effective is artillery when you aren't constantly moving it around?  Must be alot.

Re: Armenia, well, shit Russia.  The deal is "you provide protection/peace/stability, ESPECIALLY with respect to that asshole nextdoor, Azerbaijan," and we're your boy."

Russia isn't providing that.  Any of that.  Armenia is asking, quite sensibly, "so what's the fucking point of being your pal if you aren't going to do the one fucking thing you're supposed to do?  And, by the way, the fact that you won't/can't do that one thing ALSO tells us that you really can't do much about it if we call you on your bullshit.  What are you gonna do, invade?  With what?"

Russia is not a friend you want to have.  Hell, even Luka might agree with that . . . if he knew he wouldn't be executed minutes later (either by Putin for betraying him, or by his own people once Putin withdraws his protection).

All of this.  And it's all good for the U.S. of A.

It's time.

"They are coming," said one official who had access to security assistance plans. The official noted that, as always, such plans are subject to change until officially announced.

A second official said the missiles are "on the table" and likely to be included in an upcoming security assistance package, adding that a final decision has not been made. It could be months before Ukraine receives the missiles, according to the official.

And only 14 months late.

With the reports that Ukraine will be likely to succeed by winter coming out recently hot and heavy, plus now sending ATACMS, looks like NATO/DOD are smelling blood in the water.

Honestly, if what the above map is true, and the Russian's have basically brought in everything they can spare outside of Robotyne , we may well be looking at the decisive battle to control the south of Ukraine right now (exclude Crimea for now).  If the Ukrainians fuck them up, basically the rest of their defensive lines are untenable.  Taking back the land bridge will be huge.  I do think you are right, intel for everyone and their behavior suggests blood in the water.

The ATACMS news is so infuriating...right when their advance has put most of everything within range we decided to open up the arsenal? I just don't understand what we're doing.

It's a chess move, give up Crimea or run the risk of having hundreds of thousands of Russians trapped.  That's the only thing I can think of, and admittedly, it's not great.

We are slowrolling because we have a bunch of folks in the bureaucracy who are still believing that there will be real consequences to “escalating.”

The reality is this: Russia cares about the outcome of the war and not about what weapons systems Ukraine wins or loses with. So the question you have to answer is “are we willing to risk that Ukraine might win.” And now people are coming around to thinking that way and to say “yes.”

We’ve easily ran through about 3-4 Ukraine policies since February 2022.
