The video showed that it looks totally done. I thought one of the gossip guys said open Nov 1 but when you click a link to make a reservation it is showing open in 2 days on Thursday October 19.

And that’s what I get for looking at the picture and not watching the video.

Will be in Vegas in a couple of weeks, BYU-Texas weekend. Staying at Venetian, but it looks like the William Hill Sportsbook at venetian doesn't get very great reviews.

I haven't done a CFB sportsbook day in Vegas in a few years. My default would be to get over to MGM Grand by 1230 and watch there. I don't know if they still have the bar off to the back left of the sportsbook, but I remember a couple of times pounding giant ass beers there for relatively cheap and talking CFB with fellow degenerates all day. Had a good time there.

What say the experts here? Is there a can't miss sports bar around the strip that I should be going to instead?  I'd be ok with sports bar over sports book, especially if there might actually be some women to look at (there are usually zero in any sports book) but I also don't want to waste time at some bullshit place that doesn't know how to work their TVs on a game day. I think I'm likely to be solo at this time because I'm not traveling with any other Horns and they'll probably be sleeping in on Saturday anyway. So I don't need a place where I can book a private booth or cabana or anything like that.

Ironically, it's in MGM....across from the sportsbook.  I've caught a few games there; it does get busy.  Don't know if it has changed, but both times I have gone they were fine with us sitting at a table for the entireity of a game, just drinking and grazing:

So Beauty and Essex cancelled our reservation for our trip, closing for a private event. Does anyone have any other reccomendations? I made a holding reservation at Morimoto, and we talked about maybe Cathedral in Aria (can't double book reservations, both are MGM properties). ANyone else have any other suggesitons? We don't want to do Social, becuase it's in Caesar's Palace and no thank you. Retro in Bellagio looked...ah, a little to kitschy.

Anyone got anything else we should look at? We have Italian at Piero's and Jean Georges for Steaks, so some different cuisine than that would be appreciated.

I am a big fan of Bardot Brasserie and it's in the same casino if you had other plans nearby.  Dim Tai Fung is also really good.

We hit Bardot up every other year and it’s wonderful, but I think we’re looking for something new. Cathedral is also on the aria. Will look up your other suggestion, thanks.

Yep. Good bar. It's one of my stops in LV. Last time I was there i stayed at the MGM and ate there on a Friday night. The UT Basketball team was eating there, too. I believe they were in town to play Stanford on Sunday. Took a pic with Chris Beard. The photog was RT. I was damn excited about UT BB and where it was headed. Welp...

I'm a fan of Tableau at Wynn for brunch, if you don't have that lined up.   We didn't try Casa Playa this last trip, but we have penciled it in for our text visit.

Mizumi (if it is open, since they are undergoing renovations) or Wing Lei are solid choices as well.

Will also add those to the research list, thanks. We’re set for the only brunch we’ll be doing, have Bouchon lined up for that.

I've always had good group meals at Yellowtail in Bellagio just telling the waiter to load us up on his favorites.

We watched a game at Blondie’s in the Miracle Mile shops, it opened early, food was solid, good specials, decent crowd.

Nomad Library is also really good.  We went there on our last trip and it was one of the best meals we had.

I am hoping to go Wed or Friday - I've read that you can get tickets for under $200, if you wait until after the 8:00 start time. I've read they are available on some apps, but not on all.

I mean that would make sense. Anybody holding extras trying to sell them on SeatGeek or whatever is gonna panic by 8pm and just try to get rid of them

Looks like showtime is actually 830-840. I will be there Friday night.

Got a reservation for Peter Luger's in early December.  I am excite.

I'm going with buddies in a few weeks and then taking my wife to see Garth Brooks in December for her birthday with some friends. I'm wondering if we should get a reservation for Peter Luger's in Dec. I've never been to the one in NYC because there are too many good ones and it always seemed like a hassle. Have you heard any comments on how the one in Vegas compares?

I also just found out that my buddy that we're going with is good friends with someone in the Raiders' front office and we're getting some insider access shit at the Raiders game that weekend. Never been, so figuring it will be a circus worth seeing.

One lengthy review just out today. More or less favorable. I’ve also never made the trek out to Brooklyn for the original.

I enjoyed the write-up and it was really helpful. I never go to a steakhouse for the steak. It should be a given that the steak is awesome. So PL is probably not for me. Besides atmosphere and experience, the apps, sides and sauces differentiate them for me.

When you live in Houston and Dallas and have access to the best steak joints in the country, going to one in Vegas is generally for different reasons, if at all. So I pretty much only go to STK at Cosmo on occasion and that’s for the party atmosphere and hot girls. I’m mostly worthless when asked about where to get steaks in Vegas. I’m usually focused on any other type of restaurant except perhaps Mexican food (and obviously BBQ) when in town.

Having said that, it is understandable that a group of guys like to have a bachelor party meal at a steak place or maybe people don’t live near awesome steakhouses.

Yeah, for the guys weekend, we always do steak night on Friday night. When we were younger, followed by strip clubs. Now it’s mostly gambling and tradition. Some of the guys aren’t in Houston or Dallas.

This year we’re doing Jean Georges. Haven’t been in over a decade.

For the Dec trip, hell, the alternatives to PL are everything. I’m guessing the women pick if I don’t push for PL.

I might be pushing it a bit for Day 1. Been up since 8pm last night for work. Had to fast midnight to 8am for a blood test. Using bourbon replenishment therapy. Going to power through until the 4:20 boarding. It's a sign. Meal is some sort of beef rib dish. Poors get pretzels.

Meant to post this a while ago, but we were in Vegas OU weekend.  On Sunday, we did the Circa book downtown which was actually fucking awesome.  It's a bigger version of Lagasse Stadium (RIP). I don't go to Vegas enough to know whether it's a "hidden" gem, but it was a ton of fun and they weren't stingy on the free drink tickets.  Downside is food generally sucks in that casino, but I found an Asian restaurant upstairs that was pretty good.  We hit two straight flushes for table bonuses at Pai Gow during the SF/Cowboys game as well when we left our seats so will return.

I agree, the Circa setup is really great.  You can play video poker on the upper deck while watching their monstrous TV wall.

I struck out - had targeted Wed but the ticket prices never really dropped (hell they had actually gone up by 8:20), and I was at Paris eating and didn't want to cut that short. So I had Friday as a back up, prices dropped, though I'm not certain when that happened as I was at a family event with dinner out in Henderson. So I didn't remember to look at Vivid until about 9:00, but there were a good number of tickets available for under $200 at that point.

I did drive by early (6:15am) Thursday, and parked for a while on Manhattan which would have been a perfect place except for the stands that are up for F-1 in a couple of weeks.
