You are spot on.  USC provides free uber to all students.  There is also free shuttles to L.A. Live that picks up and drops off at the school.

The university just completed the USC Village across the street that is mixed use of student housing, residential colleges, retail stores, restaurants and other specialty businesses.  Trader Joe's, Target, Wahlburgers and Trejo's Tacos are just a few of the businesses within the Village.

It takes a village . . .

But have you ever been in the Guadalupe just below Canyon Lake? Colder than a witches tit

Haha, my family would go there about 4 times a summer growing up.  The Pacific is even colder.  And the air in August near the Guadalupe is usually hovering around 100 and it's only usually high 70's - low 80's near LA beaches.

EJ after dark: Can Texas flip Marques Caldwell from Oregon?

  Hide contents

— I recently put in a Crystal Ball pick for Texas to flip Oregon cornerback commit Marques Caldwell. With Marcus Banks now leaning towards Texas A&M, Jason Washington and Texas have zeroed in on Caldwell as their primary in-state target at the position. Caldwell told me last month that a Texas offer would shakeup his recruitment. He actually visited for junior day in February, and an offer from the Longhorns was a dream come true. If Texas gets him back on campus, I think they can get him to jump on board.

— Speaking of Banks, I've been told that Washington has reached out to the three-star prospect over the last few days. However, I am also told that there isn't much movement there. Again, I have reason to believe that Texas A&M has taken the lead in that recruitment. I don't expect Texas to receive an official visit this summer. This one is over. Time to move on.

— Texas is in the process of evaluating several defensive linemen, and one recruit to keep an eye on is Ole Miss commit Jamond Gordon. Texas defensive line coach Oscar Giles recently stopped by to see Gordon and expressed heavy interest. Gordon is from Mississippi and has been committed to the Rebels since last year, but this is still a recruitment worth monitoring.

— Texas is also taking a look at a handful of in-state quarterback options in the 2020 class. And UT offensive coordinator Tim Beck made his way to see fast-rising Carrollton Ranchview product Michael Henderson on Friday. Henderson is an extremely versatile prospect that could also develop into a linebacker at the next level. He holds several P5 offers and would love a scholarship from the Longhorns.

Someone tell Herman to go get Hunter Johnson. Perfect fit.

Seems to me that he's messing with his Twitter followers, but what do I know?

Yeah he's definitely messing with that guy. And since that guy thinks tweeting at recruits is smart and good, he deserves it.

EDIT: Nevermind, that guy's his teammate. They're all messing with everyone.

he is saying nothing of the sort. He was commenting on when he commits he is done with the process completely. This does not mean he's shutting it down now.

Read the replies to his original tweet. Someone replied to his tweet asking him when he is going to commit. He replied, simply, "Today".

Could just be messing around, but he did tweet it.

Read the comments, bro.  In response to a question on when he is committing, Bragg says "Today."

I mostly read the recruiting threads and add some inanity from time to time. Sometimes I add a perspective, but not often and rarely about specific player's ability.

The recruiting thread at Shaggy was great because it remained light-hearted and often witty when recruiting news was scarce. The threads there were a refuge from the endless repetition of the football board and the entrenched mutual dislike many posters were addicted to. On the football board there was an addiction to contention over any point no matter how meaningless.

The recruiting thread here feels like it has been invaded by the football board posters who are annoyed that their readership has fled to another place to get away from them. These posters arrive on this thread which used to be fun and beat it to fucking death with tired observations and opinions.

Some people actually follow sports for fun.

When somebody writes that it's foolish to get one's hopes up or he himself will wait before being optimistic, my first thought is who the fuck cares about your timetable for optimism or your presumption about the state of another poster's expectations?

Who the fuck cares about an individual's crusade to make the same tired fucking joke/observation about a coach or player no matter the context?

Example:

Hey, we got a verbal from a highly ranked wide receiver!

Tim Beck Hater: Can he call plays?

Tom Herman Hater:  Mensa gonna recruit all WRs this cycle?

Guy Who Thinks All Recruits Should be Locked Up by June 1: I guess we're not going to get any linemen this year. We're screwed.

Recruiting Domino Specialist:  I guess this means we're not getting the other guy we want.

All of the Above:  The coaches are idiots for not openly doing what I think they should be doing. Fuck Giles!

The above is arguably relevant but a beating.

I'll not bother with examples of useless arguments that are basically masturbation and should be taken to a private place for continuation. You can find those on just about every page.

Lastly, some say, "well, there's nothing going on. What else should we talk about?"

That's the point. SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR A FEW HOURS.

The fish aren't biting today, why don't we pour garbage in the stream until they are biting. The other fisherman won't mind wading through it and it's fun!

We should all abstain from posting until we're fairly sure we're adding information, entertainment or a somewhat fresh take. Goofy is generally acceptable. Sententious is not. We'll all fall short of this standard from time to time, but we should at least try to make one thread in the sports boards informative and fun.

Bizarre rant. I'm confused on which troubled poster you categorize me as. Beyond that, I don't see a whole lot of difference between this board and the old board in terms of posters. Looks largely the same, but I haven't given it that much thought, I guess.

Ultimately, I'm not sure how you get one sort of thread meandering without occasionally getting the other. Somewhere around this time last year on the Shaggy thread for last recruiting cycle, there was a long, drawn out discussion over medical schedules due to MM's mother being a doctor or some shit. And there was repeated talk of boners from grown men over where a recruit might be going. It goes on and on. Let's not romanticize the good old days, given that today is the same as it ever was.
