Beto 2020

Wow, Beto is polling well in a state the Democrats won't win until 2024.  He is so fucking brave.

Focus your energies on Weld in a swing state.  That's the best hope for getting rid of shit-show Trump.

Got this email from Beto this morning.

We want to level with you about fundraising. No one doubts that we have the people or support to raise what we need. We’ve proven that time and time again. Team Beto has donated millions of dollars — all without PACs or special interests.

But lately our fundraising has slowed down. If we don’t pick up the pace, we will be heavily outspent. In a time of 30-second TV ads and super PACs, the only way forward for Beto and our country is to run a people-powered effort like we’ve never seen before.

We had lofty goals for fundraising headed into April, and we may not make them. But we need to try our best right now to close the gap.

Can Beto count on you now to be one of the people who steps up to own a part of this grassroots campaign? Make a contribution right now to help give us the resources we need to compete.

I have given once to 5 different candidates as of now and that's all I'm doing until probably 2020 before the primaries.

I haven't seen him on many tables lately.  Funds are definitely drying up when you're nowhere to be seen.

Biden seems to be everywhere
Bernie and Warren too
Harris on TV grilling Barr
Pete is on Time

And Beto is...…….

If the choice is between Trump and Beto, I'll have some custom helmets made that hold two wine bottles instead of beer cans to help the wine moms in their pursuit. It'll be easy, just retrofit the beer helmets we Bernie Bros wear to keep us nice and drunk for our door-to-door harassment.

Joking aside, millions of politically active women canvassing is something this country could desperately use. Too many men running things. We really need them out on the field and we should encourage them at every turn.

Supposedly he left the campaign to go home to look for his pet turtle GUs. Hopefully he will find that Gus is OK and then he should build a wall around Gus so he doesn't get lost again.

Since a lot of his interviews with local stations aren’t being covered and I’m the resident Beto fan girl, I’m going to try and post them here when I see them on Twitter.

And he announced today after he finishes this stop in California, he’s heading to Minnesota next week.

I think his strategy is going to work out just fine. This "I've been everywhere" thing will start getting some attention and his focus on social and local media probably makes better and more sustainable connections with voters than cnn Town Halls. Once the name recognition starts to equalize among top candidates what's going to matter is enthusiasm among a base support. I don't think you do that through a few good moments on cable.

It would be nice to see an electoral breakdown equivalent.  I wonder if Beto does better in Texas and other states to inflate his numbers, but he’s not going to win those states anyway.  Maybe he get 45 in TX and 40 in LA, versus Sanders 30 and 30, making him  look better without increasing the EV number.

This photo looks like the beginning of a Brazzers shoot where someone in the Pornhub comments section would give her a 6/10 on ideal calf to ankle ratio.

Fundraising numbers for Democratic candidates from Texas donors -

The above graph is from Emerson.

These results are from Change Research.

Full numbers (screenshot cut off Inslee and Ryan but they’re both at 0%)

We all know Emerson has had issues and I don’t know how accurate Change Research has been in the past.

But my takeaway is the reports of Beto’s demise seem to be premature.

i dont' get the poll . Why is the pool of Dem primary voters comparing Trump vs. the Dem candidates? Why is trump in the poll at all?

Biden's cynical exploitation of Stacey Abrams was pure political bullshit. Beto's invocation is a lot different in its intention, because I think Beto actually respects her and actually wants what she wants. But still...

White male candidates aren't good at outreach to black women. In my own political outings I have, with very positive intentions, said things that got negative reactions that confused the hell out of me. Then I listened and learned. And still mess up. And listen and learn more.

One of the hardest things for white men to do is take criticism and not argue back defensively (like Bernie did at the panel in Houston).

I bet Beto is up to that task.

I had the same reaction as that twitter response initially then I remembered she isn’t running for President and Beto said ... if she wants it. If she’s got bigger, better or just different plans or no plans then great. If she wants to join then great and if she wants to get in the ring and whip his ass then that’s fine too. Given his response in other circumstances I trust that’s exactly how he feels.

She'd make a fine attorney general too with a focus on civil rights, voting and criminal justice reform, if she wants it.

I’d prefer Kamala for AG and I think she’s the natural choice for all of the candidates that might win the nom assuming she doesn’t.

Failing upward isn't a Beto thing, it's a white man thing.

Of the four main white men in the race (Biden, Beto, Buttigieg, and Bernie), none of them are really impressive in terms of track record. Biden's is actively bad, Beto's is mixed, Bernie's is unremarkable (but profoundly consistent), and Pete's is very shiny but very thin. Yet... here they are.

It's bullshit to see Beto alone getting saddled with it.

It’s because he’s the only one with out a current job (other than the former Vice President) and he lost his race only a few months ago. But I agree. One of the most hideous aspects of sexism and racism is the fact that only white men can be mediocre and still rise.

That article seems a little fair. He certainly had failures but also had successes. He benefited from his family's wealth and position in advancing. See the child of every elite in America. Being a white male helped too. Now let's listen to what he has to say.

Going to be interesting to see where he's going. Still seeing a lot of grassroots Beto efforts up here in Northern Virginia, and I still see him drawing large crowds. National poll numbers continue to decline, though, and this narrative of the privileged white kid keeps percolating in the national media.
