What? It's as if you don't understand the whole "transaction". Yes, it was paid with inflation. -

Fuck Arkansas!! I have never gotten over losing to them at home in 1964, and I wasn’t even born until 4 years later. We failed on a 2 point conversion late in the game to lose by one, because DKR didn’t believe in going for a tie (unlike a certain pussy at Notre Dame). If we make that play, we would have been back to back undefeated national champions. Instead Arkansas and Alabama both claim the MNC that year even though we beat Alabama in the Orange Bowl. Imagine having TWO back to backs over an 8 year period. Fuck Arkansas!! -
Not only will he catch a TD. It’ll be on a fade route just to piss you off

As soon as the leaves were pretty well down and the weather became rainy, accompanied by light snows, these men, after acting the part of husbandmen, so far as the state of warfare permitted them to do so, soon began to feel that they were hunters. They became uneasy at home. Everything about them became disagreeable. The house was too warm. The feather bed too soft, and even the good wife was not thought for the time being a proper companion. The mind of the hunter was wholly occupied with the camp and chase. I have often seen them get up early in the morning at this season, walk hastily out and look anxiously to the woods and snuff the autumnal winds with the highest rapture, then return into the house and cast a quick and attentive look at the rifle, which was always suspended to a joist by a couple of buck's horns, or little forks. His hunting dog, understanding the intentions of his master, would wag his tail and by every blandishment in his power express his readiness to accompany him to the woods. -Joseph Doddridge, from Notes on the Settlement and Indian Wars Of the Western Parts of Virginia and Pennsylvania from 1763 to 1783, inclusive, together with a Review of the State of Society and Manners of the First Settlers of the Western Country

I don't care about parties. There needs to be some form of buffer between monetary policy and pure politics. That applies in a general case. Trump is a spastic shitmonkey that will do anything that is politically expedient. So it applies about x100 with him in office. Also, 50% inflation under Biden? GTFO with that. You need to unplug from your toxic media. -

plaintext Austin, Texas — In critical minutes and hours when deadly flash floods hurtled down the Guadalupe River washing away children’s camps and RVs, the county official responsible for coordinating emergency response was likely asleep at home, the Kerr County sheriff tells CNN. When asked if he knew whether Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator W.B. “Dub” Thomas was working the night before the early morning July 4 flooding that killed at least 136 people in the state, Sheriff Larry Leitha said: “I’m sure he was at home asleep at that time,” and added that he was also asleep. (emphasis mine) This revelation that, as a flurry of National Weather Service alerts sounding increasingly dire warnings came in, the key emergency official in charge was likely not awake to receive the information – has not been reported before. Erskine played in Steps Ahead, before Steve Smith (of Journey fame) joined in ~1987. Both are fantastic drummers. Steps Ahead was founded largely by Michael Brecker (tenor sax) and Mike Manieri (vibraphones). They created some fantastic music in the mid-80s to mid-90s. When in NYC (a family member lives there) I always seek out a Steve Smith show. After one of Smith's shows, I see a guy I think I recognize. I ask if his name is Mike Manieri. He says, "yes." I said that I recognized him from the "Live in Tokyo 1987" show (it was 2022?) video. He laughed and we talked for a bit. Down to earth talented guy. Was teaching at NYU and gigging on the side.

Dude holy SHIT. I'd say that's the worst bad beat of all time but I guess, technically, they didn't lose. I can't even fathom what the odds would be on this scenario ever happening.

Im not sure that’s true. We are certainly in a big debt cycle, but a bunch of deflationary signs are beginning to appear that could be significant. And as long as the dollar is the world’s reserve currency we will have less inflation than the rest of the world, just like we did in the transitory spike period. in other words, we have real problems on the horizon. Inflation could be the least of them. We certainly agree on that at least, but the issue here is that the Fed knows that. The political actors who want to control the Fed don’t. -

If I am a company, and I declare that I own $2 trillion of securities, but I actually own $1 trillion, I will get put in jail. That is fraud. Hell, why not claim $100 trillion in assets. You seem to think accounting can be done without reference to economic substance. You are embarrassing yourself. -
I can’t believe this is happening:
