Look, he can't stop another war if doesn't start one first. I think he's stopped like 9 wars already and he needs to reach double digits before the end of the year to set the bar high going into 2026 Nobel award season.

Nah, but it got injected here as South A described. The MS Paint worst sex experiences thread initially, then the thread was moved into the classics archive. It’s a shame all that content is gone. I wonder if that old content could be revived (threads locked) and turned into a history/archive subdomain of surly?

but if lagway plays against us doesn't that mean he can't shirt this year?

Texas Football 2025 - We’re Never Losing Again!
Codaxx replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
When you see other starters catching 70% of their targets and 1 below 50%, it stands out. Perhaps I am overthinking it, but it seems incredibly simplistic to say Arch just throws bad balls to Wingo. There is obviously something off between the 2. I wish I knew the answer. Also wish I had the data on Moore as a comparison. -
I got a couple of killer questions. What was the cause of the US Civil War, as set forth by each seceding state's declaration of secession? And How do tariffs work?

I don't understand the question. I responded to the post. -
you guys are going for the low hanging fruit blaming the coach for this. i'm okay with firing her, and i'm sure they will, but our girls are getting outplayed in every match and practically the whole game. they cant keep possession, their passes are weak, they have no speed or energy, they're lazy on defense. the ball is constantly on our side of the field. even when we have a goal kick, instead of kicking to their side of the field she'll roll the ball to a teammate 20 feet in front of her and it gets stolen on the next pass. forget coaching. if you're an elite player, and our university should only recruit those, you should pass crisper and not have the ball stolen from your feet all game long.

just interviews/checks for the next purge, nothing to see here

It's all yours. I'm still perusing. Good luck!

Counterpoint: this approach is evidence of how utterly fucked we are as a society. That's because the ONLY motivating factor for any policy action or item is "but what about ME?" It's the "Leopards Eating People's Faces" problem, nationwide. Government action X hurts the fuck out of person Y. Who cares? In fact, it's worse than "who cares" -- it's "awesome! Suck it, other guy!" It's only when Government action X ends up hurting YOU that you say "wait, Government action X is bad!" The dominant social dynamic in the US is -- for example -- people only worry about massive losses in the availability of healthcare when it hits them. When THEIR hospital closes, when THEIR medicare coverage evaporates, etc. The contra-approach -- one that is functionally dead in this country -- is that people should worry about massive losses in the availability of healthcare that hit their neighbors and fellow countrymen. We should ALL want Lorene and Cletus to have access to basic healthcare, because a healthy commonwealth is a good thing. It's an objectively good thing. It doesn't matter whether it directly benefits me or not. We should want a government that doesn't shit on basic constitutional rights because that is bad for the commonwealth, and destructive of basic governing principles that are social positives as a whole. TLDR; the approach above is just more of "all that matters is the 'me' good, zero consideration for the common good."

The destruction of America's public education system
gernblansten replied to Captainant's topic in Cloak Room
"Despite making dozens of other Fox News appearances and feeding red-meat beefs on social media and during State Board of Education meetings, Walters has seen his unfavorable numbers more than double in three years among Republican Party voters, according to an August Sooner Survey released by CHS & Associates. That edition of the survey reported 44 percent of polled “likely Republican primary voters” had an unfavorable opinion of the superintendent, while 31 percent reported a favorable opinion. Additionally, 34 percent of likely Republican voters reported a “strongly unfavorable” opinion." https://nondoc.com/2025/09/25/ryan-walters-resignation-as-state-superintendent-to-lead-teacher-freedom-alliance/ I figure you probably have to be a real asshole to be an elected Republican in Oklahoma and poll those numbers. -
I've always respected his coaching despite his obvious personal failings but now that he's not coaching bye bitch

Texas recruiting class of 2030: another Manning?
Not a Sock replied to Im_smarter_then_you's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
I think the Mannings are more strategic at this point and are going to try a plant their flag across the SEC. There already is a Mannning legacy at Texas, Ole Miss and Tennessee so I would strongly bet that Marshall ends up at another SEC power program like UGA, Bama or Florida. -

This stock is in very “light” territory, meaning it could have extreme moves either direction. Best not to watch it too much if you’re in it for the long haul.

We have had the dual zone system for several years now and love it. It is the top sheet that distributes the air (assuming you add that option).

Well you have to give him credit for only taking one spot.
