17 year old stabbed to death by another 17 year old at Frisco track meet
scottsins replied to Derka's topic in Daily Texan
Apparently, the new was no self defense instruction allowed for the negligent homicide charge, which is the likely explanation for that guilty verdict, with NG on the other two options. -

I'm a little disgusted with myself that it's only playing at the Bullock IMAX through tomorrow and it's sold out. If it's selling out the theater they should keep running it. -
Champions League 24-25: Mo Games, Mo Money; Mo Problems?
Napoleon replied to Jive Turkey's topic in Futbol
Yep, that one Inter guy was WAY up while holding the Barça defender down to the ground, thus allowing a valley for that pass to come straight through to Dumphries. The act of using the Barça player like a window sill so that the Inter player could prop himself up and lean way over, like he was looking out of a screen less open window, was so egregious that I thought for sure VAR was going to overturned. -
Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet

Oh, then yea a little -
I don't know this to be true, but what if I told you that this was a program available nationally using HUD money but administered by the states, but this particular program was simply branded "for black people" in an effort to better engage with that community? Would that change your mind? I'd have to dig into this one further, but bear in mind we have state (via multiple agencies) and local (both for Travis county and city of Austin) 2nd lien down-payment assistance functionally similar to each other but branded differently (this one is for teachers, this one is for first responders, this one is for veterans, etc.). My favorite is from SETH; we don't get to use it in Travis County but last I checked, it was also a 0% down-payment assistance lien, forgivable depending on length of ownership. It's possible something of this ilk is available to EVERYONE in Washington state. That said, I agree with you and @Brisketexan that it's bad optics and I'd not be giving conservatives an easy target if I were them.

Oh I was talking to all of you. -
Remains o be seen, but if he's still on the team come fall, it's prolly a Talking Head toss-up between "Who?" and "Is that the guy who...?"

very good series win

Saba v Iga would be fun. We’ve had that final in Madrid before and it was classic.

Bill might not be able to run at his age but he needs to shuffle away asap.
-
Nah, he's good. Well, not mentally. He executed the guy handcuffed to the heater after he talked Shirley down. He should have a much bigger role this season, based on the books.

Oh, great, here we go with another recapture plan. First it was the schools and now you want to Robin Hood our water.

Cool. Think about it all you want. Again, if you think you just came up with the idea of a massive interbasin transfer, and how it will solve all of the water woes to the west, feel free to think that. We're just suggesting that maybe, just maybe, the literally thousands of engineers and boots-on-the-ground policymakers who work on these issues every day, many of them for their entire careers, MIGHT have had the same brainstorms you're having. And they MIGHT have run down the practical implications, costs, regulatory hurdles, etc. as part of that exercise. And those efforts MIGHT have consistently revealed that large-scale interbasin transfer projects are not particularly practical. Again, I've seen actual plans for potential projects - the kind of thing that went beyond mere concept and into nuts and bolts, and said "if there's anyone out there who wants to acquire this water and move it elsewhere, here's how it could be done. Any takers?" Nope. Our existing water supplies are well-inventoried. Future sources and supplies are likewise well-inventoried. Projects to maximize and develop supply are discussed openly. These plans are developed on both a state-wide and regional basis. https://www.twdb.texas.gov/waterplanning/index.asp You can click through there to the State Water Plan and each Regional Water Plan. Those plans are developed after literally tens of thousands of hours of analysis by people who do this for a living. There are a shitload of reasons that there are no 200+ mile pipelines to move water from the wet east to the dry west. And it's not because nobody thought of a good way to do it until earlier today.
