  1. Past hour
  2. Aside from the general trend of US healthcare getting more expensive for everyone, we were told a major factor is the rise in high-cost claimants over the past couple years. We have 500 or so people in the US, so I could understand how it only takes a handful of high-cost people to drive things up. For example, a colleague spent the past ~18 months fighting stage 4 brain cancer. I'm going to his memorial this week.
  3. Good Opinion piece in The NY Times today-“Eat The Rich Is the Only Answer” TL:DR, Dems need to win back first priority economic voters and the way to do that is tackle issues like income inequality and the injustice of rich Americans enjoying too much of the bounty of US economic production. I know we’ve talked about it here plenty, but I continue to be befuddled that it doesn’t get more play because it’s very much the simple solution to breaking apart the MAGA coalition.
  4. I hadn't realized this guy was still doing those man-on-the-street interviews and would've thought he'd gotten out, gone dark, or was sent to the front. These are always really interesting, listening to people voice their fears in carefully selected, coded words, or on the other hand, being in total denial with constructed rationalizations.
  5. i cannot not read this in Trump's voice.
  6. You're gonna have to fight us for that! Well, maybe fight is the wrong verb, but you know what I mean damit
  7. A few aggy comments on FB , the SEC Refs were ordered to slant their calls in favor of Auburn thanks to the OU debacle. That's why they couldn't get that awesome offense going.
  8. You have to start with major tax reform making taxes progressive not regressive. That does mean the billionaires and hundred millionaires and probably even the $50+ millionaires are going to scream bloody murder. then you add tax policies to further assist the bottom 50%, credits, refunds, etc related to things that matter - childcare, college, home buying, etc. then you have to do what every other civilized country does and provide health care for all. Having a healthcare system that leaves a family one illness from bankruptcy is shameful. SS will probably have to suffer significant reforms, increase retirement ages, decrease benefits and means test it but that will cause millions to scream bloody murder too. tariffs are dumb, they are a hideously regressive tax. Those need to go immediately, but there is one massive problem for all of us. The debt. Truth be told, there’s no way the US is paying its way out of this mess, so expect inflation just below the pain threshold for upper incomes. But hopefully with tax increases and better support for the working class, we can raise more revenue, spend more yes but at a slower clip than increased revenue and then inflate our way out of the debt (and pay it off with future dollars worth 3-4x the current dollar). the debt piece tbqh is the most controversial but it’s just a reality we are going to have to confront.
  9. I busted my reverse parking cherry finally. It really is fucking easy with the rear camera and the 3 different pictures it provides. That being said, doing that shit in a crowded public lot is fucking annoying. Especially when your following someone and they go past an open spot only to throw it in reverse. So now ive got to back up so cletus doesnt run over me in his jacked up Ram douche ride.
  10. Shall not be infringed pal. Shall not be infringed.
  11. From Bobby's post today Cole Hutson is back at center starting so we didn't use this time to make any interior changes and running with Stroh at LG.
  12. 3 day levitation review. the venue: palmer events center the good...convenient location with ample parking for $10, easy security, cold AC, restrooms- never a line, bars- never a line, decent food trucks, ample outdoor spaces to chill, nice view of the city. the bad...sound at the indoor stage was mostly very bad. there were a handful of bands that sounded good but overall it was terrible. it was also absurdly dark in there even between bands. turning on the house lights between sets would have been helpful. the outdoor stage wasn't large enough and it was baking in the sun for most of the afternoon. friday: castle rat- medieval fantasy doom metal. they had a whole theatrical theme with costumes and a storyline...sort of like gwar but not as big of a production. they were entertaining, definitely enjoyed their set. skloss- 2nd time seeing them, their live show has improved since last year. instrumental droning, sludgy psych rock. they were good. blood incantation- they used 20 minutes of their set doing soundcheck and then still sounded like shit when they finally started. sound was so bad i couldn't listen to more than a song before i bailed. rickshaw billies burger patrol- lots of energy on the outdoor stage. played a couple of new songs that i didn't immediately love, otherwise pretty much their standard fun set. the sword- plagued by terrible sound. there was a speaker crackling the whole time, couldn't hear vocals, couldn't hear lead guitar. a real shame. setlist was good, did a cover of space oddity that i hadn't heard them play before. acid bath- somehow the sound for this set was incredible. i was only somewhat familiar with their music but they fucking crushed it. this was absolutely the best set of the weekend for me. extremely good. the armed- didn't catch much of their set but they did a really good cover of nin somewhat damaged that stopped me as i was heading to the food court. mastodon- the sound was decent, not my favorite setlist. once the lasers kicked, the visuals were excellent. saturday: wednesday- new album is good, sounded fine live. good start to the day. blonde redhead- one of the few bands that sounded really good on the indoor stage. had never listened to them before but i reallly liked their set. swervedriver- another band i wasn't really familiar with. didn't like the vocals but they sounded good when they got to jamming. raveonettes- danish psych duo. have seen them a handful of times but i think this was the best one yet. not sure who the additional guitarist was but he added a lot to their sound. one of my favorite sets of the weekend. unknown mortal orchestra- maybe the worst sound of any band the entire weekend. a muddy fucking mess. truly unlistenable. listened to 2 songs and bailed. tv on the radio- sound was great, setlist was great, energy was great. very good set. sunday: population II- canadian psych rock trio. had some heavy jams and good energy. nice way to start the day. a place to bury strangers- a wall of noise and strobe lights and awesomeness. did their normal thing where they play a few songs in the middle of the floor. love those guys. diles que no me maten- psych rock band from mexico city. it all seemed like improv, not sure they had any real songs. didn't love it. frankie and the witch fingers- another set with sound problems...the sound completely cut out a couple of times. they had insane energy and the crowd went absolutely nuts. black angels- more sound issues. couldn't hear the guitar, vocals were extremely loud. they played a new song that i liked a lot. wish the sound would've been better. built to spill- they fucked up a couple songs but mostly sounded great. would've liked something off of you in reverse. i would hurt a fly and carry the zero made up for any shortcomings. two of my favorite songs ever. struggled to make it through built to spill because i was fucking beat after 3 days of festival. didn't catch destroyer or pavement. fun weekend, if they can sort out the sound issues i would gladly go back to the palmer events center next year.
  13. So the Welsh?
  14. Correct. Pfizer submitted an EUA in late November.
  15. I think Chappelle has been on a generational run the last 10 years-- more as a story telling thought leader and public intellectual who happens to be very funny than a traditional comedian, though. Not sure that I agree with this-- lots of Middle East locales have become very Western friendly and fun vacation spots. I've personally been to Muscat and Dubai multiple times and it largely feels no different than a (different kind of brown) browner Miami vacation. As the millennials gain more and more influence around the culture, KSA seems to be rotating more to the pro-Western comforts that one would think of when thinking of tourist destinations and as crude is careening towards $50, it's validating the thinking of those oil states as to why they are heavy tech and tourism investors of the last 10-15 years.
  16. Jerry doesn't care about winning. He may say he does but he doesn't.
  17. James Franklin has a top 10 win in that same time frame!
  18. Franklin also has three 6 loss years, a 5 loss year, and a 4 loss year at Penn State.
  19. disregarding whatever it may say about my mental state. He is saying, "I have back pussy" in this gif. I can't unsee it.
  20. Where does Ryan Wingo rank in the WR room? To me Moore is far and away the best receiver on the team. Is Wingo a more complete receiver than Jagg & Mosley?
