  1. Past hour
  2. Meh. Less than 3/4 of a mile from the house so kinda hits close to home? Prolly dont wanna know how many bodies are in Galveston Bay
  3. I would argue that the Overton window in this sense has shifted. What you posted is what my maga BIL always tries to argue. It’s irrelevant. Yay, the world isn’t as shitty as it has been historically overall. We also have a much more open-eyed approach as to what society should and can be. I’m not satisfied with America because we don’t chop people’s hands off for stealing. I’m pissed that we fail in so many easily fixable ways.
  4. My son’s team plays College Park in their playoff game on Friday in Rockwall. They played them earlier in the season during a tournament and got waxed. They’ve had a good season despite playing a lot of Sophomores for significant minutes all year. Rockwall Heath won their district and they have a kid that is a really strong goal scorer. I can’t remember his name, but he has well over 100 goals this season. Really cocky kid, but he’s got a great shot and plays tough defense too. My son backs up a senior who is the best player on their team and hasn’t played a ton this year. The senior fouled out early in the 3rd in their last game and my son held up pretty well the rest of the way. He can’t shoot nearly as well, but he had an assist and a couple of blocks. Next year he should really level up. He needs to get meaner…
  5. Does All Gas, No Brakes Sark realize that applies to coaching also. does he realize has a team of 100 18-22 year olds. my god, we don't need the NFL plan. you give an 18-22 YO some amount of money and then go easy on them, they are going to take advantage and coast(at least 80-90% would). Christ, Connor Stroh was probably laughing at how easy spring and fall camp were as he was driving to the bank. maybe getting his ass beat by our DL over and over again because his technique is awful A) might have helped or B) at least exposed him. holy fuck what a disaster. I think we need some Herb Brooks attitude....
  6. Yep, I'm done giving these idiots the benefit of the doubt that ignorance provides. There's just no way he doesn't understand the racial undertones of calling out one of this country's most accomplished black men for not being more grateful to the nation that kind enough to allow his rise to happen. He knows. He doesn't care.
  7. Awesome! Keep it up! I'm experiencing some positive feedback from colleagues at a conference that I haven't seen in a year. It feels incredible to receive a few respectful 'atta girl comments. That shit goes a long way when done right.
  8. That will be a self fulfilling prophecy
  9. Newdoc

    Getting old sucks

That sucks! Do you happen to live near Three Mile Island or Eastern Ukraine?
  10. Depends on the level of the discernment, because fascism is that just on an extreme level.
  11. Nice route, Randy. Again.
  12. One does simply beat out Bailey Zappe in the depth chart
  13. I have a quick trip to one of our offices in Naperville, but I should be able to get away for one night close to the city before I head out of Midway. I would love to stay somewhere on the affordable side that is easy to get to the airport and close to a cool area downtown to eat and walk around and find a dispensary. I'll probably be back again within a year or two, but this is my first time. I will try and make a late boat tour, but that might need to wait until next trip. Any recs on a hotel or neighborhood that would give me a taste of the city and a quick trip to the airport the next morning?
  14. What are the odds even this SCOTUS rules against him on this? They clearly don't care how bad they look right now trying to provoke a civil war and I'd hope that makes such a play a lot weaker, but fuck am I getting a nauseous feeling over marines being deployed across all major cities.
  15. But it will be exciting to see him run around behind the line of scrimmage for 15-20 yards.
  16. Blackhawk Down is about as good as it gets
  17. Yes. If it’s a monopoly or close to it with cartel like control it makes it easy to maximize.
  18. Man, I had completely forgotten that Urban Meyer coached the Jaguars for a hot minute before trying to figure out what you were referring to. This is going to be so much worse, and no one will ever forget.
  19. Chris Murphy is correct
  20. LOL, not Griddy.
  21. They have the votes but they win on chaos, fear, and hate. They have no incentive, not yet at least, to do anything substantive. Unfortunately, it's to the point that Dems have to play the same game or they'll never win anything. They have to show they can win on the same playbook the Rs use. And we're all fucked until they do. Might be fucked after, too...
  22. It's our nature to think things are always bad, especially as we age, but actually, the world is in pretty good shape right now. There is a much higher percentage of people marked as middle class around the world than ever before, and that's astounding considering how many more people there are today. There are a higher percentage of democracies in the world today than ever before and lots of them are doing well. Wars are contained to hot spots. That's actually pretty good by the normal horrible standards of mankind. Our economy is, relatively speaking, pretty good. It's much better than the '70's when all the cities went broke. It's better than the .com bust of the 2000's. And it's way better than 2009-2011 and unlike much of the world, we had a very strong rebound after 2020. Look at all the investment in the cities. New York looks like a palace compared to when I moved there in 1982. And for having so many people struggling with inflation, those same people sure do buy a lot of stuff, travel, snd buy bigger houses than anyone in the '70s thought was possible. etc.
