  1. Past hour
  2. Something I thought about the other day, how much two events that happened several years ago put aggy athletics in the position they are today: Playing out the Covid year in football. Their 9-1 smoke and mirrors record was the major influence in extending Jimbo to that ridiculous contract, an albatross they'll be fighting for years. That season also prompted the 2022 recruiting class spending spree that blew up the program spectacularly. Big brother hiring del Conte. Aggy seemed to have gotten lucky with the Pierce to Texas, CDC to Texas, Schloss to ag timeline. Unfortunately for them, we pulled the plug on Pierce and inevitably hired Schloss before he could end aggy NC drought. But then they took it to another level and really stuck it to us, hiring our hitting coach right out from under us, the guy who was the brains behind the CWS run. Then money-whipping all those loyal, red-ass, good ags to come back, post #1 Preseason Ranking (whoop!) and show Schloss what a big mistake he made leaving Good Ol' Texas and Mechanical College!
  3. beer

    La Liga 24-25

Bunch of midweek games getting this evening and the rest of this week. Battle for the bottom on right now, Valladolid with zero hope.
  4. Eyed some cans of those pretty hard, but didn't buy because they're in stores here. Put together a couple of mixed sixers ($21 total) of stuff that's not readily available -- a hazy tropical IPA, some original-recipe Leinie's, some lime Mexican lager. Wanted to fill some crowlers but they were out of cans -- almost certainly would have gotten grapefruit shandy, which I suspect is that much better fresh. Was impressed with the offerings, as I'd never looked at their beer menu before. We canoed up there when my son was in 7th grade. He suggested we go again, so I think we'll try to make it happen. Not many more chances. Just before leaving Leinie's we asked for a couple of tasters and they're pretty dang generous -- probably over three ounces just to sample, and when one of them is the imperial shandy at 9 percent, it can force a change of departure plans. Our mostly old-guy happy hour has taken to splitting the big boy beers. I might have posted a pic of the Central Waters Why Is The Cake Gone? not long ago -- a couple of years ago those were close to 15 percent, and our campus is probably still trying to recover from it taking out part of our IT staff for a day.
  5. Leave Giannis alone. He's going to screw up their cap going forward and he's going to deplete the assets that would allow them compete for years. They got so lucky, again. Take Harper. Don't think twice about it. Don't overcomplicate it. I'm concerned that they don't have enough (any) shooters, but let's not over think this. Harper is going to be unstoppable playing off of Wemby. They can find some shooters through trades or free agency. They are building this the right way. It's not going to take them long to make the jump.
  6. One more accomplishment for the wall.
  7. Give me 61 and humid again and I won't complain
  8. I wanted to name my dog Oprah but was challenged with the "yell that name out at the park" game and acquiesced. Settled on Olive. She was definitely an Olive. She's my avatar and has been gone for 6 years now.
  9. Let's hope leadership (does it exist?) can make the call committing to a rebuild instead of thinking being average is simply the next step toward being consistently great again.
  10. My wife keeps a list of potential puppy names in the notes app on her phone. She probably has more than 100 at this point. We’ll be prepared when it’s time for the next pup. Our current dog came from the rescue with a name and we thought it fit him perfectly so we kept it.
  11. But the point being made was "creating superteams" and that San Antonio was for some reason selected out as a superteam by the NBA in 1997, and was gifted Duncan after being gifted Robinson just like it's perceived Dallas was gifted Flagg yesterday. In 1997 the odds were #1 Boston and #2 San Antonio, and having Duncan in Boston and Shag/Kobe in LA would have been easily accomplished, and more importantly vastly preferred, by Stern/NBA. By roughly 10,000% A new Boston/LA rivalry would have brought way more eyeballs, love and hate, than a "superteam" in S.A. of all places. But hey, I'm damn happy it went down the way it did and that the NBA is still tilting all the odds for my favorite superteam.
  12. how many firms are there in America? How many biglaw firms have bent the knee? How many big law firms have lost partners and associates and clients because of bending the knee? Your assumption that nobody is up in arms is simply false.
  13. The kits are terrible and we're going to lose every game we play in them.
  14. Maybe he's blind.
  15. Taco cabana is now probably worse than that guys curry.
  16. She'll be hurting a little while later. Adrenaline is a helluva drug. Until it wears off.
  17. It's funny, but fake.
  18. on our one and only scoring drive of the 2H vs asu we converted a 3rd and 10 on a go route to matthew golden. the ball did not lead the speedy golden, in fact it was a bit under thrown (a product of lofting every single pass you make) and towards the sideline. an accurate pass which led golden would have been a TD. instead golden had to adjust to the pass and jump towards the boundary to catch it.
  19. peruse the last few pages. IIRC reviews weren’t good.
  20. I thought it was first team ever, not first team in 35 years
