How Is That Chain Still Open?

Fuzzy’s in North Texas seem to be closing at a steadily increasing pace. -
That and there's always some charlatan with a degree who is willing to spout bullshit. And then the idiot will claim that the science isn't settled or that there is legitimate opposing evidence. This is basically the result of almost a century of oil and tobacco industry bullshit. All disciples of Ivy Lee. Running a psyop campaign on everyday Americans.

Don’t leave out his grandparents being a part of the Texans ownership group. That is one of his favorites.

This is a bad take and you should feel bad. I've seen this too...even the podcasts I listen to on it are like "another miss of an episode" when I'm like...that was fucking fun. Oh well. Same...they basically made Spock Kirk from TOS.

It's kind of funny though, how things are cyclical. There's a current growing trend among young homeowners, to add in all sorts of fancy decorations-- to create a curated space of maximalist possession. It seems to me, to be an attempt to connect to the past. They're putting in faux moldings and antique furniture and doilies and, yes, tablecloths! They're also hand-writing letters and invitations in cursive, or even calligraphy. Who knows, maybe alcohol and sex will make a comeback, too. Hopefully we won't forever be stuck with this:

And that's why the race is on to completely fuck over future elections in any way, shape or form. If it takes masked men holding weapons to keep people from voting, gerrymandering so outrageous that the Supremes give it a thumbs up, or some other method(s) so heinous or not conjured up yet to sway an election, it will happen. -

Dude you're quoting a clearly partisan "anti-woke" organization as some sort of reasonable source. Their website has a hotline to "blow the whistle on DEI". I thought pronghorn was banned?

I'm looking forward to joining this weekend. Bringing +6 with me. Already told my wife she has to walk up and say "Muledick" in order for us all to get in. She's super concerned...lol.

But...ESiPN?!? I have it on good authority that the Media hates aggie and love the Horns! -source: Aggie I know it's a troll, but jesus...I'm not even upset about the Texas ranking...but putting aggie 3? You see they don't have to...it was ONLY an "SEC Gauntlet" until Texas showed up and ruined it. Now it's a weak conference because of us.

We went to Bali for our honeymoon in September 2008. Weather in September is phenomenal. We stayed 3 nights at a beach resort which was a bit isolated / contained, which is great when you're newlyweds and spend a lot of time getting it on. I recommend doing day yours of the temples, elephant parks, etc. We moved up to Ubud for the next 3 days where there was nominally more things to do. If you are going to the monkey park with a handful of bananas, brace yourself. The sight of 30 monkeys charging you is pretty intimidating. Also. Wood penis carvings. Lots of wood penis carvings.

For me, there are four things that stand out that make this so egregious: The termination of the deal if Kawhi didn't play for the Clippers The no show element of the contract where he got paid for doing nothing, especially with the crazy number of dollars involved The $48 million total amount was equivalent to the $50 million Ballmer invested in the company The allegations of Uncle Dennis and his team asking for under the table deals and endorsement guarantees when Kawhi was a free agent. You already knew they were unscrupulous from the way they handled that plus their dealings with the Spurs. There are just too many coincidences for me to believe that this is anything other than a blatant move to circumvent the salary cap. I don't think that the league can sweep all of this under the rug so to me the bigger question is, what are they going to do about it? If David Stern were still commissioner, there would be hell to pay. I don't know that Silver has the balls to do administer such a beatdown.

Texas Football 2025 - Playing With Our Food
closetojumping replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
Neto isn’t playing much because he’s a fucking idiot and they’re worried about him missing an assignment in pass pro or committing a stupid penalty. People involved with the spring and summer thought he was the best player at LG - if he could be trusted. Robertson is supposedly the best C on campus but then they’re benching the unit leader or pushing him to LG where he’s been meh when playing. The bigger complaint about Flood should be centered around what he’s actually valuing that pushes actual performance to the background. -
Highest words of praise my no-nonsense, S. Texas rancher/oil patch bum grandfather ever had for me: "You know, old Brisket's gonna do alright. He's smart enough to know how dumb he is." That is a central element of success in this world. Be smart enough to know how dumb you are. I educated myself with my electrocardiologist. I worked to understand the procedure he recommended, and he did a good job explaining it. But at the end of that conversation, he was still the expert with 1,500 of these procedures under his belt, and I was just another dude with an electrical issue with my heart. It came down to "if this was you, would you undergo the procedure?", and deferring to his expertise. Like I defer to the pilot's expertise every time I get on a plane, etc. etc. I'm a smart enough guy. But I'm also smart enough to know that what one gains through years of education and decades of experience can't be replicated by a few hours of watching fucking Youtube videos by some fucking quack. That intelligence/wisdom apparently puts me at the upper echelon of American thinking these days. And if that is true....dear god is this country fucked, because as smart as I am, I'm still a fucking idiot.

More contemporaneous reporting that make it seem like this is really an under the table deal full of fuckery: (reposting from the NBA subreddit) https://www.thestar.com/sports/raptors/inside-kawhi-leonard-s-bizarre-list-of-secret-demands-from-raptors-and-how-they-line/article_9f1b0398-0ebd-4193-bc06-798efda95023.html Key passages: But multiple sources with knowledge of Toronto’s contract negotiations with Leonard in 2019 told the Star that Leonard’s uncle and representative, Dennis Robertson, made demands that line up almost perfectly with what Leonard reportedly got from Aspiration. According to those sources, who were granted anonymity in order to speak freely about the negotiations, Robertson’s list was long, and absurd. It included a trade for George, which featured an exorbitant price tag. It included a slice of ownership of the Toronto Maple Leafs, which Robertson was told was impossible. But two details stand out, in retrospect. One, Robertson asked for ownership stakes in outside companies: not just the Leafs, which he seemed to believe was separate, but with other companies with whom MLSE had a relationship. And two, the Raptors were told they needed to match at least $10 million per year in extra sponsorship income. Teams are allowed to introduce players to team sponsors; teams cannot negotiate deals, and MLSE was aware of that fact. But it didn’t end there. As one source put it, when told about all the corporate sponsors in Toronto who would be happy to have Leonard as a pitchman, his camp said, “We don’t want to do anything.” Raptors representatives said any sponsor would want to shoot ads or arrange appearances; Robertson reiterated Leonard didn’t want to do anything for the money. That’s when the Raptors realized Leonard wasn’t asking to be introduced to Toronto’s lucrative corporate community; they were being asked to arrange no-show jobs, and arrange no-investment investments. MLSE rejected both proposals.

This is only partially related, but it brings up something that has been bothering me for a long time in my boys' peer groups and social media shithole, which is the rise of casual racism as a hilarious joke. I'm still wrestling with it, and in some ways it's similar to the shock humor I grew up with in terms of dead baby jokes, Garbage Pail Kids, and Andrew Dice Clay. Maybe I'm just showing that I'm an old, but it makes me very uncomfortable and concerned, and I try to explain that to them. On the one hand, I can hope that on a generational level, maybe it's "meta" and such behavior from previous generations (particularly their grandparents') is so ludicrous as to be amusing to them in an ironic way. So in one way, they think they're done with racism as a serious mode of thought, and feel comfortable having a laugh at that. /sweetsummerchild.gif On the other, that requires that the recipient be aware and intelligent enough to recognize it as such -- not instilling a whole lot of confidence in me. Mine are smart enough to get that but have grown up in a relatively small town without a lot of diversity, so it's been on me to help them to understand that a portion of their peer group can't make that distinction, and that their minority friends get stuck in the position of trying to laugh it off, but also having to know that segment of their "friends" goes home to see those attitudes modeled in a very real and unironic way. It just worries me that it gives them false confidence that the world they're going into has gotten over it, and it softens their resistance to racism by blurring the lines of what's "acceptable" humor and what's a foothold for things that we taught them were unacceptable. Well, look at me, I'm ramblin' again. These are ill-formed thoughts, but it's been making me uncomfortable and giving me, as they would say, the ick. I should have just said that yes, social media is the worst, and also, the dismal tide.
