Government Shutdown 2025: This Time It’s Personal
Biff Tannen replied to Bozo_Casanova's topic in Cloak Room
Dan Pfieffer is killing me. He's comparing this shut down to pre-dotard era shut downs and treating the voting populace now the same as those from the pre-dotard era. WE ARE IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLACE WITH MAGATS. This is not the same. They DO NOT CARE about the details behind the shut down. These Dem operatives have to get out from behind their policy wonk walls. They are so disconnected from the average voter. Dumb it down. Make it simpler. Blame the Rs and Trump. Doesn't matter why. -

I mean sure I guess. I’m not in the whole “his political motivations are…” sweepstakes. The defendant is a POS. His motive was likely to impress his girlfriend. I am more interested in the evidence the State of Utah has compiled against this guy. Like a linear timeline of that 24 hours leading up to the shooting and what he did afterwards. So I expect to get more of that in court. They already provided a lot in that first court appearance but it’s still not enough for “some.” Don’t get me wrong, I care about his motive. But i also care about all the evidence. And that evidence is key for those of us who are pushing back on the Candace Owens types who are outright blaming Israel and saying the POS wasn’t the shooter and the video from the roof was faked and that the shooter was framed. It wouldn’t shock me if he was in direct opposition to his right wing parents or if his victim wasn’t right wing enough. but logic tells me that it had more to do with his relationship. Which seemed pretty much one sided. I just see it as a guy who was in love with someone who was transitioning to be a female who wasn’t all that into him and if you combine that with Kirk’s feelings on those transitioning that may have just been enough for the killer. He ended someone’s life just to impress his girlfriend who just wasn’t that into him? I think Ronald Reagan and Jodie Foster and the motivation for that attempted assassination. The shooter left breadcrumbs everywhere. It’s clear we ain’t dealing with someone who is playing with a full deck of cards, and likely never was.

If there's anywhere I'm not going to direct my anger, its at Bobby. He's a part of the answer behind the scenes if there ever was one. Not gonna blame him for going the optimist route, it benefits his business. -
Nor am I

Houston police and other first responders were searching in the water at White Oak Bayou under the Interstate 45 and Interstate 10 interchange on Wednesday morning. A large police presence and a dive team seen at the bayou around 9 a.m. appeared to be trying to pull something from the water as members of the public recorded video behind yellow tape. -

And my guess (although I dont pay for any of that crap, so its just a guess) is that Bobby and the rest of them still arent blasting Sark and the team like they deserve. These dorks arent reporters, they are professional jock-sniffers, and they have to play the game for proximity to those jocks. -
Maybe they should get jobs with benefits instead of living off of her grift.

Looks like the Dartmouth president said no. Southern Cal faculty overwhelmingly voted no, as did the faculty at MIT and the faculty at Arizona. 97% of UVA faculty are against it. Any word on UT faculty taking a vote/issuing a statement?

The title made me think it was a Jason Statham movie. Ex-military turned roofer out for revenge because the daughter of someone on his crew was murdered or kidnapped. And it would get my money. But agree, this looks pretty fun.

This is plainly a bad football team with no shot at playoffs or an SEC title. We’re cooked one game into conference play -
Yes, I have thorough faith that Trump's policies are based in the law of the land. She's right, but it means nothing outside of a debate exercise. That's not what we're doing here. Perhaps your faith in what you call data is misplaced if it keeps you from looking deeper. Instilling all the policies you list is a huge victory. Precedent. Testing the waters for future action. Making sending federal troop to address illusory urban rebellion something that ceases to be headline news because it happens all the time is enormous. The "data" (to be clear, I'm sure it's accurate and that you are honest) about deportation numbers, as well as national guard and ICE deployment "measurable" outcomes is not the point of their operation. Clue: they're not doing anything in good faith nor justifying them by citing anything true. Trump declares Portland a hellish warzone. Miller talks of attacks on ICE based on a desire to deny the election of Trump. (After reporting this, I'm sure CNN had a couple of guys on a panel say that they didn't think this was true. yay cnn.) Trump announces his plan to use the Army in the future to take over the streets in these illusory hellholes to all of his flag officers. OBTW we'll be firing 20% of you (tacitly: go along or lose your cush jobs and status). It is a story for part of any news show you can name. I don't know who the normies are. I wonder if you mean the 30% who acquiesced to Trump's election by not seeing enough reason to even vote. The normies have had plenty of triggers to rise up. They are not doing so. Your complacence about the odds of everything going down the sewer is remarkable to me. The water is rising with nothing in sight to slow it down. That's how I take the meaning. That's how he takes the meaning. That's the meaning that matters. It may even help that he bends the definition of the word to serve his ends. It's often a fatal error to misjudge an opponent as dumber, not as brave, or not as determined as you are. Big time.
