  1. The main TV show vilifying Christians is the evening news. You know, when they cover the Catholic child molestation scandal which never seems to end and which only seems to grow in scale.

  2. <whatever A&M has> is better than t.u. you stupid sip!!!!!! smaller stadium = more intimate bigger stadium = more popular Kevin Sumlin is their coach and Mack Brown is ours = you want a hungry young up and comer coach not some broken down old has been Jimbo Fisher is their coach and Tom Herman is ours = you want a coach with a national championship pedigree not some unproven young punk recruiting class of mostly Texas kids = WRTS recruiting class with a heavy OOS presence = we're a national property, we have to recruit across the US because Jimbo takes the best of the best wherever they're from and the state of Texas doesn't have enough SEC ready talent to win all the national titles Jimbo wants to deliver

  3. Seems the backlash is due to Christian intolerance of those that don't believe just like they do. Oh....and the hypocrisy of embracing a serial adulterer who mocks the poor and disabled. You need some butt salve to go with this rebuttal?

  4. I used to be anti Christian because of all the anti Christian movies and TV shows shows I was watching but then I watched God's Not Dead and all of Kirk Cameron's movies and now I can't stop pipe bombing abortion clinics.

  7. You were right to laugh at your friends, positive TV storylines are not what Christianity seeks. Christianity is the gospel of Jesus Christ, not the gospel of Condor, Season 1. Why is this dumb thread on the politic board instead of Movies and TV?

  13. They're behind the 8 ball in the 2020 class so their hive mind propaganda to salve their wounded pride is that the 2021 class is better. Also, they're liars.

  17. I'm not anti-Christian. I am anti-hypocrite and anti-extremist. Any group will be defined but their most extreme and vocal constituencies - and even more so when their mainstream doesn't visibly oppose those extremes. The collective is characterized by the actions of a few and the inactions of many. We judge police for their abuses of power, legislators for their uneven application of law and religions that pervert their core principles for personal gain or power. That Christians claim the basis for our moral fabric makes this more relevant.

  18. There is anti(insert something here) everywhere if you go looking for it. 5 pieces of evidence across the whole TV spectrum is not some grand strategy. There is more anti Muslim propaganda than Christian. Is Christianity getting called out more? Yes. But in the internet/information age, any group of people that has done any wrong will get called out. Why should Christianity get some pass?

  20. I'll gladly take the raise. For all the whiny teachers who complained all the time there are many more who enjoy it and never say anything. You just hear the complainers more. I know teaching will never make me rich but I do get to spend all summer with my kids and travel the country. The only real downside is crazy parents, paperwork/grading, and the possibility of getting shot in a mass shooting. Could be worse.

  28. What you and the Times are calling “upper middle class” I think is more accurately called the “professional” class. You got your doctors, lawyers, university professors, small business owners, architects, accountants, upper management, etc. That’s generally the top 15 percent of income earners. I don’t doubt that this groups income has chugged right along with GDP over the years. It’s in the interest of the top .0001 percent who are currently hoarding the grotesque majority of this country’s new wealth to keep both the professional class relatively happy and give the lower class, including what we used to know as the middle class, someone else to resent instead of the top .0001 percenters. Think about it. How much contact does the bottom 90 percent have with the top .0001 percent? None. Never. Zilch. How much contact does the bottom 90 percent have with the professional class? Quite a bit. And the professional class gets to tell them what to do, (watch your weight fatass, study for this test, get me a TPS report, fetch me some coffee, you fucked up your taxes last year, pay me 5k or your’re going to jail for DWI,) while looking relatively wealthy in comparison while the lower and middle class get poorer and poorer. It breeds understandable resentment that is misdirected as to where it should be going, namely the thieves at the top .0001 percent. This latest republican tax scame is the perfect example of what is and has been going on for damn near 40 years and is nothing but a money grab by the top .0001 percent at the expense of every fucking other person in the country. It’s obscene and the fact that the republicans support it should doom them to minority status for not just years, but decades.

  31. When you can explain where the federal government is going get the taxes to increase its revenue by 80% to pay for Medicare For All, let me know. When you can explain how society will work in ten years when the cars are all gone, again, please let us all know. Some debates are over. Socialism enslaves people and destroys economies. Although this isn't up for debate, it doesn't stop clowns from pretending socialism is great.Just because an argument has been won doesn't mean people will understand this. Normal, sane people know we aren't going to raise taxes by $3.2 trillion next year. That's 15% of GDP. It would destroy the economy overnight. Did I mention Medicare is already bankrupt, and the federal government is approaching insolvency? We are, I hope, reaching peak lunacy. AOC is a freak show not a role model. You guys are what's interesting, not her. She's just a run of the mill waitress who's never been told held accountable. It's not good for the country to tolerate this kind of nonsense.

  36. OP, is this anti-Christian or is it merely character, plot development? The kid being abducted is less apt to resist because he thinks Rawls and the priest looking guy are authority figures. Characterizing a villain as a devout Christian or priest/preacher can signify that they believe in the righteousness of whatever they're doing and that they have the power and cover that a powerful institution like a church can provide. Complaining about some less than flattering portrayals in a few scattered TV shows and trying to claim victimhood in a country where declaring your Christianity is pretty much a prerequisite for holding any elected office is some weak shit.
