Night crew is the equivalent of a great O-line. We do the work, we get dirty, and we push things forward while never losing sight of the ultimate goal. Day crew is like the flighty ego-centric QB who throws picks routinely and wants to give up in the 2nd quarter but somehow stumbles around and completes the game-winning TD because the O-line dominated and gave him enough time to eyeball a pass into the right place. The formal announcement of Urban to Texas will be during the day shift, who of course will claim all the credit. We will know the deal was completed the night before.20 points

The topic of sources was just brought up to me because I just had a college friend text our close group of friends saying Herman is coming back. My buddy is a rabid fan and he has deep ties to the school through his grandfather who was deeply generous to UT. He is involved in some business deals with a current BoR member and they have known each other for a long time. Thats his source when he says Herman is coming back. Sounds pretty legit right? Here's the problem. Most of the time BoR members are basically in the dark about this stuff until right before something takes place and they need to execute on a decision. Usually there is one key board member who is also a donor or in the donor group. If that was the source then I'd raise my eyebrows but its not at all. I can remember talking to a friend about Charlie Strong while he sat on the board. I was shocked at how out of the loop he was. This was right before the Kansas game and he basically said to a group of us that we need to just cool our jets because the board felt like it was too soon to get rid of him. Little did he know, he was speaking directly to a donor that had put a lot of ground work into bringing Herman over, and that donor was working directly with the person who has the ability to both fire Strong and hire Herman. When the regent walked away, I looked at the donor and he looked back at me with a face saying "keep your mouth shut." There are so many people at UT that you would logically think would be in the loop, but in my experience its usually a small handful of folks that really know whats going on and are doing the actual work. I happen to be on a text thread with a donor that I know is helping steer the bus right now. While I havent heard from him since December 5th, I have heard that there isnt a new thread and that things are silent for a reason. If UM told us "no" and it meant anything, there would be a big enough shift that Id bet a lot of money Id hear about it. The fact that hasnt happened along with a lot of other factors tells me to just sit tight and that UM is still very much the plan.20 points

No, you just don't know what you're watching. The ball was underthrown by at least 3 yards. It's okay, lots of Americans sound really dumb when discussing soccer so you're not alone on this kind of thing. It's often helpful for new fans to use reference points. For example, on this play Dixon is 4+ yards ahead of the linebacker and still separating when the camera picks him up. He is 1.5 yards ahead when he catches it. You can also see him clearly start chopping his steps at the 40 yard line. This is most visible when he steps at the 36 yard line with his right foot and then the 35 yard line with his left foot. However, if you think an FBS wide receiver has a 1 yard stride or that slowing down to a 1 yard stride then speeding back up to a 2.25 yard stride qualifies as never breaking stride then it's probably not a new fan thing, it's just a general lack of athletic knowledge. The dumbest part about choosing this argument is that Thompson made a world class throw to Brewer on another play but most fans are unable to identify who did what on a play. Long touchdown equals Aaron Rodgers like throw hurr durr. Not to mention what I previously said regarding this play in that when your receiver is that far ahead of a much slower defender you don't even want your QB to throw a perfectly in stride ball. You'd rather he do what Thompson did and underthrow it by a few yards. Glad to help. And it actually is important to recognize exactly what happened on this play because it showed that Kelvontay Dixon has excellent ball tracking skills which a lot of our receivers lately have lacked. Receivers who are fast but have terrible ball skills aren't actually good deep threats. Brennan Eagles, whom I like as a receiver more than most around here but think he wasn't utilized correctly, would have read the trajectory more slowly, taken 2 or 3 extra full speed strides, then would have had to come to almost a stop, turn around and face the ball, make the catch, and get tackled at the 25. Dixon recognized the trajectory immediately, began slowing down, reached his slowest speed at the 35, then accelerated through the catch around the 31. He made a really good play on the ball that enabled the touchdown and he isn't getting enough credit.18 points

Listen, I am no GreenspointTexas, but I'd need more than that to take the Texas job, given that it would undoubtedly also kill me before I get close to 50 YO. Here are some things to think about regarding the purported buzz with WM and Notre Dame, and also things to think about regarding WM returning to Austin. 1) Muschamp and his wife hate cold weather. He's not moving his son to South Bend for his final 3 years of HS. 2) Muschamp does not have any burning needs for money right now or ever again. He wants to coach again, and he wants to be a DC doing it, so it will have to be the right gig. 3) Muschamp and his wife Carol love Austin and loved their time at Texas. His wife still visits regularly and stays with friends. 4) Muschamp and Kelly don't know each other. 5) Muschamp knew how to defend great Big 12 offenses and would be a stud DC hire. 6) He was an animal of a recruiter and still enjoys it. 7) He'd undoubtedly bring Corey Raymond if he was hired at Texas and would likely keep Hutzler. They know how to evaluate, recruit, and "get things done" on the recruiting front these days, and Texas is in a new era of CFB and needs to get better at the GTD part, asap. 8 ) Anyone judging Muschamp as a recruiter or DC and finding him short is showing their true dipshittery. Did he take Tariq Allen and Patrick Nwokpura when he got to Austin? Yes. They needed bodies and LBs weren't climbing over themselves to come to Texas at the time. He also played a key role in landing damned near every big name that Texas pulled during his time here.17 points

I’m glad I don’t have to deal with junk. Boobs are enough for me. Lol. Y’all are pretty cool. I think mostly my divorce made me realize life is way too short and so I don’t sweat the small shit as much anymore and am just myself for better or worse. Cuts all the bullshit. Just be me and if peeps don’t like me it’s actually freeing. Cuz I’m like I don’t waste a minutes thought on it. Like who gives a fuck? That’s what’s changed about me the most since I started posting. Probably shouldn’t have posted all the pics of me I guess but I’ve been posting for years and finally thought, “Fuck it!” Lulz. anyway, Urban or fucking Bust! The Plan B names are dwindling even more.15 points

I think Texas is swinging for the fences on this hire. My view remains that Urban Meyer makes too much sense and none of what occurred, after it was clear OSU could make the CFP btw, regarding him saying "no" makes a ton of sense. So, regardless of what I'm hearing about Kelly or anything else, I still believe Urban Meyer is coming to Texas after the Ohio State season is finished. Do I need to start wearing a tinfoil hat? Maybe folks think so. I don't care. No clue. I think Mason would be a fucking bad ass DC hire for anyone. Same for Muschamp, of course.11 points

Yep. It's pretty obvious what happened here. We were using Mullen as negotiating leverage for Meyer, so he pulled strings and arranged for Mullen to get a show cause and eliminate our leverage. That's the most obvious explanation, and just further confirmation that it's happening.10 points

Besides the resident troll in this thread, I’ve been the biggest wet blanket on Urban coming here solely because of what I’ve been told, but I also just don’t understand how he goes from very interested and engaged to not wanting to come. It doesn’t make sense to me either. Deep down I’m just hoping that Meyer has been putting out the no’s like he did for the Florida and OSU jobs. In summary, I’m still on the Urban train anyway.9 points

From Bobby this morning: The landslide wins over Colorado and Kansas State did nothing to change the opinions of the decision makers of board of regents chair Kevin Eltife, university president Jay Hartzell and athletic director Del Conte. That group of decision makers was also first reported and identified by Inside Texas.A week ago, both Eric and I mentioned “patience” as a word that we had heard from high-ranking officials and influential donors. That remains the case, and is perhaps more elucidated by the following text I received yesterday.“The whales are still coaching,” a high-ranking official texted, referencing the coaches in the college football playoffs as well as possible NFL coaches.8 points

It would be nice if secsec coaches would declare whether or not they want to be there, BEFORE the game starts. What a joke.8 points

Mullen comes across as a cunt, his statement last night, bitching/wanting a packed house for a home game during a pandemic, tantrum towards the officials one game.8 points

Fuck Dan Mullen and his scout team comment. What a pussy. Ohio State played their last two games without 23 and 22 players including many key starters. The backups came in and did their jobs. Learn to develop your roster you fucking arrogant ass.8 points

Dude. Switzer (and Osborne too for that matter) didn’t run clean programs. They were dirtyAF and that’s a fact. But it was a fucking joke on a message board full of joksters. I had no idea who it was on that cover. And I certainly wasn’t trying to indict a black man by it, Jesus Christ. And by the way I’ve been jabbed at up and down this board dozens of times so don’t act like I have some protection. I’ve been called tranny more times than I can count since 2015 when I came out to y’all and it’s still not an off limits slur even though I’ve made it clear it’s not ok. And over the years the cut your dick off jokes just keep coming, man they are so funny. That doesn’t even count the bullshit undercurrent of trans misogyny that’s rampant on this board on probably a daily basis. I just ignore all of that unless it’s someone I personally know. You want to have a separate conversation about criminal justice reform I’m as progressive on that as they come. But to hold me to a standard that NO ONE ELSE on this board is held to given the bullshit I’ve endured? yeah you can fuck the fuck off with that BS.8 points

"responsibility has been pushed" --- passive voice. I want to fucking know where our state leadership is. What the fuck does Abbot even do? It appears he hasn't given any update on the vaccine or its distribution since almost 2 weeks ago. State elected officials are committing malfeasance and neglect, standing by (or not) idly, basically just being twitter trolls and trying to undo local health measures. How the fuck do people vote for this shit? And-- want to know how I know we're really fucked? A large portion of the residents in this state are gunning for Abbott because he somehow did too much against freedumb (and even then he reversed himself). Oh and he claims he's gonna get it spent but he still has $2-3 BILLION of Cares money that the state has to spend, and is lobbying for a deadline extension. You know how these funds could be spent? Directing and providing resources for the vaccine distribution, which you had months to consider. The fuck is going on with this shithead apart from proving the bullshit R mantra -- that government is incompetent-- by shirking the most basic, constitutional charge of the office -- to care for the health and welfare of the state's citizens? Easiest, griftiest gig in the fucking world. Feeling SALTY8 points
