  1. Just got a text from my friend in the Bama program that Flood and Wiggins are going with Sark. It's done.

  2. Ahead of posting, one good rule of thumb we should all follow is asking ourselves, "Is this just word soup in my head focused on my own feelings that no one else gives a shit about, or do I really have something that needs to be typed out and posted, at length, on a board with a bunch of anonymous other posters who quite often don't give one fuck about how anyone else 'feels'."

  5. Oh, you're back. yay. Nobody tried to overthrow the government in 2020 other than those efforts of the sitting president and his conspirators, sympathizers, toadies, and opportunists. Or does dishonesty in hopes of undermining faith in elections not count? The most remarkable murder of 2020 was when a Trumpist took a rifle to a demonstration and shot down someone he didn't know. He's a hero to some good citizens. Maybe you hang out with some of them. The most remarkable abductions of 2020 were carried out by federal actors dressed as storm troopers dragging citizens off the streets and into vans with no explanation. Great video! Over the last few years, Black people are getting killed by the police for no good reason (nothing really new in that) and your president (I know, I know, we all know that you think he's a bad person and would never think of voting for him. We've heard the hymn before.) won't condemn it. Nor does he condemn white supremecists. Nor will he clearly state a position on Q-Anon. So, sure, everybody but you is failing to keep proper perspective on the events of 2021 by remembering 2020 and beyond. As usual, the 300k needlessly dead from Covid don't count as "violence" because who wants to talk about negligent homicide when a Trumpist (or Antifa false flagger!!!!!) is beating in the skull of a Capitol Cop with a fire extinguisher? We got real, movie-style homicide to talk about! I think I speak for a grateful Surly when I welcome you back to offer such sound, circumspect observations. You've maintained your standards. Now bravely go neg a post of mine on another board, you courageous defender of truth, you.

  6. Sorry, man, but the "Strong got shot down on his OC offers" premise is bullshit, flatly. He half-assed a search and waited long enough to justify bringing in Watson. Frankly, I disagree with your general premise about the money-whipping issue. We haven't even attempted it enough in our lifetimes to take the position that it's not enough to get people to Texas. That's also just bullshit. I wish we'd tried it way more often. Mack Brown was able to get people by money-whipping them repeatedly, by the way. Robinson, Muschamp, Chizik, Diaz, Harsin. They were all first choices and paid way above prior salary levels to come here. It works just fine, just like at every other big program, when there's a hope or belief that the guy in charge isn't a fucking imbecile or dead man walking. Nahlin is always impressive when it comes to ignoring actual facts and data points and pressing forward with his own bullshit narrative. He was straight up fucking wrong on Golding. He manufactured that premise out of whole cloth and got others to bite on it. It had the stench of his worst traits from the jump. The same is exactly true with his "Milwee sucks at recruiting" premise. He's pushing that out there and others are picking it up as fact, and there is literally no truth to it. Nahlin doesn't know a motherfucking thing about Milwee's recruiting prowess and he can't just shut the fuck up about it and admit it. Just let it play out and then create judgment against performance. Nope, he's got to let everyone know ahead of time that he, in fact, knows. Well, he doesn't. Nahlin didn't fucking follow Milwee's recruiting at Akron. I am not going to be surprised when his dumbass attempts to claim he did, or that "he spoke to someone close to the Akron program while Milwee was there", but neither concept is, or will be, true. That's pure fiction. At Alabama, I'm fucking closer to people there than he is, and they don't really know much about Milwee's recruiting either. He's doggedly energetic on evaluations and enjoys interacting with targets, which are great signs. But he was a fucking analyst at Bama, so how much beyond the halo effect of being there can he get credit for? On the flip, there isn't a soul there that doesn't think he can recruit. He was literally the first guy picked to join a staff by two solid offensive minds in Butch Jones and Steve Sarkisian. That flies in the fucking face of the idea that he can't recruit or doesn't know how to do so. Anyone carrying Nahlin's water here on this one will get negged every time by me, and I hope the other recruitniks. If Milwee turns out to be a shit recruiter, fine, we'll all see it, but there is zero foundation in that now and it is fucking board noise from an easy liar when it suits him.

  9. I wonder if it occurred to any reporters while watching the game that maybe Sarkisian really had been pretty focused on the national championship game he was coaching in and so the staff hires actually might not have been completely finished. I don't know any more than they do but I do know that what happened last night was better for Texas recruiting than spending the week focused on the staff hiring process would have been.

  12. Did you see how happy Saban looked last night? That was the look of a man who's done with the pressure of being a head coach and is getting on a plane in the morning to go be a defensive coordinator.

  13. From the IT board: From Saban’s postgame presser:What kind of job did Sark do finding a way to get play-makers in position to make plays? He does a fabulous job. He's done a fabulous job all year long. He had got a great plan, does a great job preparing the players. He does a really good job of calling a game. He knows what the other team is doing, knows how to attack it, knows where to put the players to put them in position to be able to make those plays against what the other team is doing. He has just done a fantastic job this year. I can't even tell you. Can't even put into words what a great job he's done, how much confidence the players have in the plan and the execution. He's really helped Mac, as well, I think. Mac had a phenomenal year. Our offense was really the key to the success of this team. We're an okay defensive team, not a great defensive team. We played well enough, got enough stops. But the offense was dynamic. That's what made the difference.

  17. Many people don't know that right across from the Alamo is a Ripley's and they attacked the Alamo but they didn't attack the Ripley's and I said I think that's great because I love Ripley's. There's a John Wayne made of wax in the Ripley's. Maybe there'll be a wax Trump but I don't know. Outside of the Ripley's there was a Mexican, a little Mexican and I looked at the Mexican and he had a cart. The little Mexican was pushing a cart and he sold food out of it. The little Mexican looked at me and said 'Sir, would you like a churro?' It's like a donut but it's not round it's long but like a donut. They call it a churro. But we did really well with the Mexicans but you wouldn't know that if you watch the news.

  25. Milwee too, but that was done and known inside the Bama walls last weekend for everyone involved. "Banks, as far as it looks right now, is staying. So we keep the monkey and the stripper. I continue to not have heard a god damned thing about this Golding shit you keep stirring. " -- BamaBuddy on text

  28. We're plenty educated. The problem we have is that Facebook is feeding us poison. (Other social media, too, but FB in particular.) Grandma goes on FB and says "I like America!" and clicks Like on a picture of a Blue Lives Matter flag and the FB algorithm sees that and thinks, "Oh! This user would love MAGASTORM1488!" and the next time she logs in she's recommended Ben Shapiro's face and a pepe frog throwing Nancy Pelosi out of a helicopter. She clicks on the Pepe meme to find out what it is and the algorithm sees how to get her to click more and, 6 months later, she's storming the US Capitol building with a tiny flag and juicebox.
